Those Are the Breaks

by Little Katie

This is another new little series that I came up with for all to enjoy. It seems that my writing tends to stay with the younger characters, but that is primarily how I try to work out things from my past. This is most likely going to be my last series like this for a while as I attempt to become a novelist. I will most likely continue writing for the next month or two, but use other areas to explore. It all depends on how a certain legal issue turns out if I write more then that. Please enjoy and comment.

"Pick up your toys," Mandy screamed at her son.

"Do I have to," Sam yelled back down stairs.

"Yes, you have to." Mandy was starting to get tired of this little routine that she had to go through every time she asked her eight year old son to do anything that she asked.

"Why?"

"Because I have to baby-sit Jenny today and I can't have the rooms looking so messy. Pick one toy that you want to play with and put the rest away. Don't make me tell you again."

Sam knew not to argue with his mom any time she made that last statement. The one and only time he tested her on it he was grounded for two weeks and wasn't even allowed to watch television. Sam picked up the scattered toys and placed them roughly into his toy chest. His mother hated how he treated his things, but at this point she wasn't about to start another argument.

Sam decided that he would simply play video games and wait for the pest to go home. The pest being the six year old girl that his mother seemed to watch every other day. Like most boys he didn't want to be bothered by such a person and rather that she simply stayed out of the way.

"I got a new dress Mrs. Mandy," the bright blue-eyed little pixie said as she twirled to model her new yellow sun dress.

"I can see that Jenny, and might I add it certainly is a pretty dress at that." Mandy smiled at the small child and patted her on the head.

"I got shoes to match too and a purse, but I left the purse at home." The child pouted ever so slightly, Mandy found it simply adorable.

"It's okay sweetie, I am sure that it is a lovely purse as well." Mandy enjoyed watching the young child while her mother sometimes worked at a second job.

"Where's Sam?" The small child asked noticing that he wasn't around to see her in her pretty dress.

"He is up in his room, why don't you go and join him." Mandy suspected quite some time ago that Jenny had a crush on her son. She could tell every time that Jenny would visit she would constantly keep her eyes on Sam and never gave the poor boy a moments rest.

"Okay," Jenny said and them skipped out of the room and then ran up the stairs. When she came upon Sam's bedroom door she tried to turn the knob but the door was locked.

Sam could here someone trying to open the door and grinned at how clever he was. As soon as he heard the young child enter his house he decided to barricade the door so he could be left alone.

"Sam," Jenny whined, "let me in."

"Then come in, I'm not stopping you."

"The door is locked," Jenny tried to explain.

"No it's not, you're just too week to open it." Sam laughed to himself.

"It's not funny, let me in." Jenny banged on the door.

After a minute or so the banging stopped and Sam figured that he had earned a small victory. He turned his attention back to the playstation 2 and put in a wrestling game.

A few moments into the game the door swung open and Jenny burst into the room with Sam's mom right behind her. Sam turned his head sharply in surprise and fear. His mom waved a small key in her hand and grinned.

"Now you two kids play nice, I don't want to have to keep coming up here." Mandy instructed.

"Yes mom," Sam answered in a downcast tone.

Mandy laughed on her way down the stairs. She knew that in a few years her son will be begging for that kind of attention from a girl, maybe even from Jenny herself.

"Can I play with you?" Jenny asked as she sat on the edge of the bed.

"No," Sam said in a stern voice.

"Why not?"

"Because it's a wrestling game and you're a dumb girl and girls don't play wrestling games, that's why."

"I watch wrestling with my dad all the time, it's funny."

"It's not funny," Sam said annoyed that the girl didn't get it, "it's extreme."

"They're only pretending to be fighting."

"No they're not." Sam started to get angry at hearing some dumb girl spread lies about wrestling.

"Yes they are, it's all fake pretend."

"It is not, it is not."

"Fake, fake, fake, fake." Jenny began to taunt the boy. She thought he looked cutest when he was mad and she knew just the right buttons to press.

"Does this feel fake." Sam slapped the young girl on her bare thigh, leaving a hand sized red mark.

"Oww, I'm telling."

"Stupid girl," Sam yelled and then turned his attention back to the video game.

"Stupid boy," Jenny stuck her tongue out at her friend and then dashed off to tattle on him.

Sam was hoping that his mother would simply keep Jenny out of his room and he would be able to have some peace and quiet. But five minutes of silence was broken when his mother and the pest came back into his room.

"Shut it off," Mandy commanded her son.

"But why?"

"Because evidently you can't play nice while you are playing with that garbage. Now turn it off or I can simply throw it out."

Without hesitation Sam quickly turned off the game and the television. He didn't want to stop playing the game but he knew that he had little option to do otherwise.

"Now you two play nice or someone is going to get a spanking."

"Me?" Jenny looked up at Mandy with fear in her eyes.

"No sugar, not you." Mandy teased the child's hair and reassured her that she was not in trouble.

Sam took out one of his GI Joe's and started to play with it.

"I didn't bring any of my doll's can I play with one of yours?" Jenny asked.

"I don't have any dolls stupid."

"You have one right in your hands."

"This isn't a doll."

"Then what is it?"

"It's an action figure."

"Sure looks like a doll to me."

"That's because girls are stupid and don't know anything."

"I'll just play with one of your cars, or is it an action figure too?"

"Just take it and shut up and leave me alone."

Jenny took a small matchbox car out of the toy chest and started to roll it on the floor. Sam, figuring that she was going to stay in his room as long as she was at his house decided to venture elsewhere. He took his action figure and went into the hallway and played along side the banister.

A few minutes after he had left the room, sure enough Jenny followed after him. Even though she didn't speak or interact with the boy she wanted to be able to see him. This drove Sam nuts, but he decided that he would try to ignore her the best he could. Jenny was soon at his feet rolling the car over his foot.

"Would you quit that," Sam yelled.

"I'm not doing nothing," Jenny yelled back.

"Stop touching me."

"I'm not touching you," Jenny said as she rolled the car over Sam's foot once again.

"See, you just touched me."

"The car touched you, not me. Yell at the car." Jenny secretly grinned as she saw Sam get red with anger.

"Lets see how you like it," Sam pushed the small girl away with his foot. He giggled as she tumbled backwards and looked funny when her sun dress got all messy, revealing her panties.

Jenny let out a scream that was unfamiliar to Sam, one that indicated that she was really hurt. Sam looked at her and wondered why she was yelling like that, he barely even touched her.

"Quit that," Sam said worried that he was about to get into trouble.

Jenny still screamed and cried.

"I'm sorry okay, I didn't mean it."

Soon Mandy came rushing up the stairs and saw the small girl crying on the floor. "What did you do to her?"

"I didn't do anything, we were just playing and she fell."

"Is that true," Mandy asked the small girl as she cradled her in her arms.

"No, he kicked me." Jenny said through the sobs.

"I did not, I just pushed her away with my foot. She was bothering me."

"Maybe I should hurt you the next time you bother me. How would you like that?"

Sam was shocked by the way his mother was talking to him. She never used that tone before and Sam knew that he really messed up big this time.

"Where does it hurt, pumpkin?" Mandy turned her attention to the crying child, she would deal with her son later.

"There," Jenny pointed to her lower leg.

"Try to stand up and see how it feels."

Jenny held onto the banister and lifted herself up, making sure not to use her bad leg. She was fully upright but leaning against the banister for support.

"Take a step on it," Mandy instructed.

Jenny did try to take a step, but as soon as her weight was on the ailing leg she crumpled to the floor and howled in pain. Sam looked on in shock, he didn't want to hurt the little girl. All he wanted was to be left alone.

"I think we better go let a doctor take a look at that and see if everything is okay inside."

Mandy carried the child downstairs and placed her in the car. Sam sat next to her and apologized every minute on the way to the hospital.

The wait at the hospital was excruciating for Sam. The whole time his mother wouldn't even talk to him and he really did feel bad that Jenny got hurt. The doctor had to take x-rays and found a fracture in Jenny's lower leg. They had to put a cast on it and she would have to stay off of it for a month.

Sam watched as his mother and Jenny came out from behind the two swinging doors. He looked at the cast that was wrapped in pink bandages. He knew that he was definitely going to be in major trouble when he got home.

"I'm really, really sorry Jenny, I didn't want to break your leg."

"It's only a fracture," Mandy told her son, "these things happen when people play to rough."

"I'm sorry mom, how many times do I need to say it."

"You've said it enough, but we are going to need to work on your behavior some."

Sam knew that meant he was going to be punished. He decided that he would drop the subject and hope that his mom wouldn't be as mad when she decided the punishment.

The ride home was the quietest car trip that Sam ever took, the radio wasn't even playing. When they pulled into their driveway his mom carried Jenny into the house and placed her at the kitchen table.

"You can stay down here with us young man," Mandy told her son.

"Yes mom," Sam said respectfully.

Sam sat down on a chair near Jenny. He really felt bad for what he did and felt he should be near the girl that just hours ago annoyed him so much.

"Can I take this thing off now," Jenny said. "My leg feels much better, really it does."

"Sorry honey," Mandy told her, "it has to stay on for a month or it might not heal correctly."

"A whole month," Jenny pouted.

"Yep, a whole month."

"The pink looks really pretty," Sam jumped in as he saw the tears build up in the little girls eyes. "Did you pick it out yourself?"

Jenny nodded as she sniffled, trying to hold back the tears.

"Don't be sad, please. I said I was sorry."

"I was gonna go to dance camp next week. Now I'm not gonna be able to do nothing." Jenny started to cry.

Sam didn't no what to do, he stood up and hugged the little girl and let her cry on his shoulder. "I'll do anything you want, just stop crying please."

Mandy watched her son, amazed at how compassionate he had become. It was very out of character for the young boy.

"Anything?" Jenny asked as her tears died down.

"Yes, anything."

"Will you play tea party with me?"

"Yes," Sam tried to muster a smile even though he didn't enjoy such games.

"That sounds like a wonderful idea," Mandy told the children with excitement in her voice. "I'll get everything ready and bring it to you in the living room."

"Thanks, Mrs. Mandy."

"Thank you mom."

Mandy carried the little girl into the living room and placed her on the floor. Sam followed close behind and sat down opposite the little girl. At this point he was willing to do anything to make up for his misdeed earlier in the day. Mandy walked out of the room to fix the needed things for the children to play there game.

"Want to play patty cake?" Jenny asked as thought of something to do while they waited for the tea.

"Okay, but I don't know how."

"I'll teach you," Jenny said and smiled for the first time since she got hurt.

Jenny taught Sam all the basics of patty cakes and the pattern that she was most accustomed to. Sam, being an uncoordinated boy at times, had some trouble getting things exactly right. After five or six attempts he finally got the hang of it and even started to have a little fun.

Mandy watched her son from the doorway, unbeknownst to him. The mean clod from a few hours ago was gone and in his place was a fine considerate young person.

"Tea time," Mandy called out and placed the tray beside the children. "There is some ice tea in the kettle so be careful not to spill anything on the carpet and continue to play nice."

Jenny took the lead and showed Sam how to have a tea party. Sam was more then happy to participate in the game and was really enjoying himself. He wouldn't of thought it was possible to have fun with a girl, doing girl things, if he wasn't actually doing it himself. For the first time he felt something towards Jenny that he never felt before and was confused by it. He was actually feeling good because he was making her happy.

Sam looked at the little girl sitting in front of him, really trying to look at her. "She has real pretty hair," Sam thought to himself. "Blonde is nice, I wonder what it's like to have long hair like that. I wonder if she gets really hot and sweaty in the summer with it down her back like that. If I was her I'd put it in a pony tail or something. We got the same color eyes, that's real cool. She is kind of pretty for a girl. If I was a girl I would want to look pretty like that. I wonder if wearing that dress feels nice. It doesn't have much to it. I bet it's cool because it isn't like covering everything and doesn't look as scratchy as jeans do. I wonder what it feels like to wear a cute dress. I can see her unders. I bet she doesn't know I can see them. They got little flowers on them, cool. I wonder if they feel different from boy unders. I wish I didn't hurt her leg. I knew she was going to pick pink for her cast, girls always pick pink. If I was a girl I would pick pink."

"Hello, do you want some more tea?"

"Huh," Sam came back to reality.

"I asked you three times if you wanted some tea, why don't you answer me?"

"Sorry, I was just thinking. Yes I would like some more tea."

"What were you thinking about?" Jenny asked as she poured some more tea into Sam's cup.

"How to make you feel better," Sam said trying to hide what he was really doing.

"What did you think of?"

"This," Sam leaned over and gave the little girl a peck on the cheek as fast as he could. He then began to blush so hard that he thought his whole body had turned red.

"Cool," Jenny said as she also blushed slightly.

Mandy was sitting in the kitchen with Jenny's mother as the two children played in the other room.

"I know he didn't do it on purpose," Amy said, "but my little girl is still in a cast."

"These things sometimes happen, we will do anything we can to help you out in order to make a mends for this."

"She was suppose to go away to dance camp, she had her little heart set on it."

"I know, she was real excited about it, but there will be other years."

"We really wanted her to be around other girls, there aren't any her age in the neighborhood."

"I understand, it is unfortunate that this had to happen."

"Plus me and John were going to have a second honeymoon, we hadn't had any time just the two of us for ages."

"Well you two can still take your trip."

"But what about Jenny?"

"We will take care of her for the time being, she is always a joy to have around."

"And what about Sam, can he be trusted?"

"He sure can," Mandy was annoyed that her friend made such an accusation. After all these things happen to children all the time and it wasn't like her son wasn't already sorry for what he had done.

"Well it would be a shame to cancel our trip to paradise. You sure it won't be any trouble?"

"I'm positive."

"So what punishment did you give Sam, I know you don't believe in spankings."

"I haven't given him any yet."

"Still thinking up a doozy?"

"Well I think I have something in mind."

"What? Do tell."

"Well you wanted Jenny to be around girls for a few weeks, and I really need to get some of the violent boy out of Sam."

"You don't mean," Amy was following along with the plan.

"He needs to get in touch with his softer side for a little while, don't you think?"

"So you will have two girls here while I'm away."

"Exactly."

"That is rich, you must take some pictures for me."

"So you are willing to help out."

"Certainly, any way I can."

"Can you take Sam for a few hours so I can get things ready."

"Sure can. This way someone can keep Jenny occupied while I call the camp and tell them not to expect her tomorrow."

"Great."

Jenny and Sam were sitting on the couch when the moms came into the room. Sam quickly pulled his hand away from Jenny's when he heard them come the door swing open. Luckily it had a slight squeak and Sam didn't get caught.

"Sam, I need you to go home with Mrs. Amy for a while to help her out. Okay?"

"Okay mom," Sam said actually looking forward to spending more time with the little girl.

"Don't you have something to say to Mrs. Amy first."

"Oh yeah," Sam said realizing what his mom was leading too. He stood up and walked in front of Jenny's mom. "I'm real sorry for what I did. I will do anything to make it up to you and her, anything."

"We will discuss that later sugar. Let's get over to my house and you two can continue playing there. Do you think you can give Jenny a piggy back ride to our house."

"Sure can," Sam said excitedly. He allowed the girl to climb onto his back and walked over to the neighbor's house. He had little trouble climbing the stairs and with Jenny's direction he made it into her room. He plopped her on the bed and handed her a doll when she asked.

"So this is what a girl's room looks like," Sam thought to himself. "It is exactly what I thought it would look like. All the doll's and the doll house and the stuffed animals all over the place. Flowers on the wall and a canopy bed. Everything white and pink and flowery, even the bed sheets. If I was a girl I would want the room just like this one is. I guess it's kind of cool. I mean if I was forced to I could live in a room like this. Jenny seems to like it. She likes dolls and pink and she looks like she belongs in here."

Sam joined Jenny on the bed and pretended to help her with the doll's hair. The truth was that he felt an unresistable urge to be close to her and was looking for an excuse to do just that.

"Jenny?" Sam, for the first time in his life, was nervous talking to the girl.

"Yes?"

"Do you still like me even though I hurt you?"

Jenny smiled at him and still thought he was cute. "Yes I still like you."

"Um, I like you too. I think."

"Really?" Jenny's face lit up.

"Yes, is that okay."

Jenny shook her head yes emphatically.

"I meant what I said before, I will do anything you want me to. Whatever makes you happy, okay?"

Jenny thought for a few seconds, thinking of what she could possibly ask. "Will you be my boyfriend then?"

"Okay." Sam turned red and smiled. He was really glad she asked that, but he didn't know why he was so eager to except when just a few hours ago the girl was such an annoyance.

"Cool." Jenny smiled back at him.

"So what does a boyfriend do anyway?"

"They hold your hands, give you hugs and kisses and do nice things."

"Okay," Sam figured there was a lot more to being a boyfriend that he would have to learn later on. He decided to hug Jenny and he felt real good doing it.

"Now we kiss," Jenny instructed.

The two children puckered there lips and kissed each other on the mouth. It was an innocent little peck, but it sent shivers through Sam's body. It was a new sensation for Sam, one that he was unsure if he liked or not. He figured a few more times and he could decide.

"Break it up you two," Amy said as she walked into the room, not knowing what was actually just going on.

Sam turned red with embarrassment as he quickly spun towards the adult.

"It's okay, boys are allowed to hug girls, this is a cootie free house." Amy laughed.

"Oh, yeah," Sam fumbled around for words as Jenny simply laughed.

"Your mom is back and you and Jenny are to go over there while I get some things ready."

"Ready for what?" Sam asked.

"Jenny is going to stay over there for the next two weeks since she can't go to dance camp and John and I are going to Hawaii."

"Okay, cool." Sam said as he let Jenny get on his back for the trip over to his house.

"Sam, is that you?" Mandy called down as she heard the front door close.

"Yeah Mom, and Jenny."

"Good, bring her upstairs with you."

Sam carried Jenny upstairs and lay her on the bed. He thought how bland his room looked after coming from Jenny's. He quickly dismissed the thought and sat down on the bed next to the young girl.

"You need to take your shower for the night," Mandy told her son. "I will put your fresh clothes on the bathroom counter and you can change in there.

"Yes mom," Sam said unaware of what plan was in the works. It was part of his nightly ritual to take a shower and then get into his pajamas for the night. Usually it happened after dinner but Sam figured that his mom would probably have to wash Jenny and was saving some time.

Sam jumped into the shower and closed the sliding door. The glass was frosted so it kept people from looking in on him and seeing all he had to offer the world, which wasn't much. A few minutes into his shower he heard the door open up and could barely make out his mom laying down his clothes and taking his dirty clothes away with her. She closed the door behind her when she left and Sam finished washing up the best he could. He knew to get fully washed or he would have to take another shower. Sam took his time and meticulously finished his evening routine. He shut the water off and slid the shower door slightly open and grabbed a towel from the rack. He dried himself off in the shower, this way he didn't leave any mess to clean up when he got out.

Sam walked over to the folded clothes, and knew something was out of order immediately. First off the clothes were pink and white and he didn't own anything pink and white. When he unfolded it he noticed that it was a girls nightgown and a pair of girls underwear with little hearts on them.

Sam carried the clothes to his room and walked in almost forgetting that a little girl was staying with him.

"Mom," Sam said sternly.

"You might want to put something on, a little bird might come along and snatch it away."

Jenny pointed and giggled at seeing the naked boy and his anatomy.

"You put Jenny's clothes in the bathroom instead of mine." Sam covered himself with the wad of clothes in his hand as he realized what he was revealing.

"No I didn't."

"Yes you did, look at this." Sam threw the clothes angrily at his mother and he didn't care that the people in the room could see him naked. He wanted his regular night clothes.

Mandy held up the clothes and looked at the nighty and pair of panties. "Yep, this is what I left out for you to wear."

"But, that's girls stuff."

"You know, you're right. That is your punishment for breaking someone's leg. You are going to be a girl to make up for all the girls that Jenny was suppose to be playing with at dance camp."

"But, you can't," Sam said defiantly.

"I sure can, watch me. You said that you would do anything to make it up to Jenny, well this is what you need to do. She thinks its a great idea for her boyfriend to be a girl for a little while. We discussed it at length while you showered."

"But I won't." Sam ran over to his dresser to take out regular clothes. He was expecting his mom to run over and stop him and was surprised when she didn't.

Mandy looked at her son and smiled as he rummaged through the drawers. All of his clothes were safely locked up in the neighbor's shed and the drawers were filled with two weeks worth of girl's clothing.

"Where are my stuff," Sam spun around.

Jenny giggled once more at seeing the naked boy and was close to splitting her sides.

"They are in a safe place. Now if you take your punishment without much hassle then in two weeks you will get all your stuff back. But, if you cause a big problem, this might be your punishment for the whole year, including when school starts up again."

Sam looked down, knowing that his mom was being serious and knowing that he couldn't remain naked. He knew nothing he could do could change his predicament. He then saw his boyhood and knew why the little girl was laughing, the water from the shower made it shrink even smaller then usual and that made Sam even more self-conscious.

"Okay, I'll do it," Sam said defeated.

"Good girl," Mandy smiled and held the panties open for her son to step into.

Sam put his left leg in, followed by his right. His mom lifted the small underwear up to his waist return a modicum of dignity to the young child.

"So this is what they feel like," Sam thought to himself, resigned to the fact that for the next two weeks he would be a girl. "They feel kind of nice, and so soft. It isn't that bad. They are kind of more comfortable then my regular stuff."

"Lift up your arms," Mandy instructed. She was happy when her son did as told without any back talk. She gently placed the nighty onto her son's body and marveled at how convincing he could look as a girl.

"Silky," Sam thought as his mom and Jenny worked on his hair. "This doesn't feel all that bad. And it doesn't stick to you like regular pajamas. I can feel cool air touch me and everything and it doesn't feel as stuffy as boy pajamas. I could get use to this for two weeks. Just as long as no one sees me."

"Take a look in the mirror," Mandy told her son.

Sam walked over to the mirror, figuring he would look like he always did, except for the fact he was in a nighty instead of pajamas. He took a deep gasp when he saw a girl staring back at him in the mirror. He knew that was his reflection in the mirror but didn't know who that girl was. He couldn't help himself and started to cry.

"What's wrong," Mandy asked her son. She was surprised at how soon he became emotional. She had figured he would sooner or later get in touch with his emotions but wasn't expecting this.

"I look just like a girl," Sam sobbed.

"Of course you do, that was your punishment remember."

"I know but I didn't think I would look like one too."

"Think of it this way. It's not really a punishment, it is your chance to see how girls live. Kind of like you being a spy."

"A dangerous spy," Sam's sobs faded a little.

"Yes a very dangerous spy on a very important mission to save the world from the evil terrorist. The only way you can get in close is to be a girl so they won't expect that you are the world famous Sam super spy."

"Do I need to go by a girls name?"

"We can call you Sam still, short for Samantha."

"And no one will know my real identity?"

"Nope, you are Samantha, Jenny's cousin from Idaho if anyone asks."

"Where is Sam going to be while Samantha visits."

"He will be helping his uncle Gus break in a few wild stallions at the ranch."

"Really?" Sam started to get excited when the story started to make more sense to him.

"Sure why not. You said yourself that you look like a girl, no one will know it is you. You do your punishment and keep Jenny company and play with her and it will be over before you know it."

"But I don't know how to be a girl," Sam said honestly.

"Jenny will help you and so will I. We won't let you do anything dangerous or let you get hurt in any way."

"And no one will know what I'm doing. Jenny won't tell on me."

"Not at all. The only people that know are in this room and Jenny's parents and it will stay that way."

"I guess I can do it for two weeks since I'm a super spy." Sam smile and in his mind pretended that was exactly what he was doing.

"That's a good girl. There is pizza downstairs for supper and we will watch a movie before it's time for bed."

"Okay." Sam watched as his mother carried Jenny downstairs to the kitchen table. He would take a few moments before he joined them. He walked into the bathroom and looked at himself in the mirror. Seeing the girl stare back at him was still a little unnerving, but he smiled anyway.

"Sam, you make one hell of a spy," He said to his reflection and then blew it a kiss.

As series goes, this one took longer to develop the TG aspect then most of my others except maybe "how life can change." Most of my stories, I have concluded, introduce the TG element without much of anything going on before hand. This was a little different as I delayed the cross dressing until the last few pages and really didn't get into that much detail. I will continue to explore this characters reaction to such situations, but like usual, I do not have a master plan as to where this story is going (if anywhere). Please Comment.
