Shifting Sands                  by: Julia Manchester

Ted Evans drove to the bus stop to pick up his girlfriend, Sally Robins, for the special weekend they’d been planning. They planned to stay at Ted’s parents’ cottage for the Labor Day weekend, but their parents didn’t know. Ted’s folks thought he was staying at a buddy’s place, but he didn’t know what Sally told her mom and dad. He only knew he was supposed to pick her up at the bus station.

When he pulled into the parking lot Sally came running up to the car carrying a small overnight case and her purse. They kissed, and Ted put Sally’s bag in the trunk, thinking for the thousandth time how lucky he was. Sally was absolutely gorgeous, with long blonde hair, blue eyes, a face to die for, and a fantastic figure topping the sexiest legs Ted have ever seen. She was 18, two years younger than himself, and about to enter her Senior year in high school. She had a perky, vivacious personality and was very down to earth, despite her beauty. Ted was hopelessly in love with her, and had been ever since he first saw her.

Sally slid in the driver’s side and scooted over towards the middle of the seat, and Ted started out for the cottage.

"What did you tell your parents?" He asked, and saw a troubled look cross Sally’s face.

"I told them some of us cheerleaders are getting together to work on our routines at Carol’s house this weekend," she replied with a guilty expression.

Ted could see Sally did not like lying to her parents, or perhaps she was having second thoughts about their plan.

"Sally, are you sure you want to do this? I don’t want to force you into anything. I—I really care about you, and I want you to be happy," he said seriously.

Sally felt a surge of affection for her tall, handsome boyfriend and she slid closer to him and hugged his arm. "I’m sure," she replied with a nervous smile.

Sally loved Ted as much as he loved her, and though they had never had sex she was sure her feelings were right. Ted was the sweetest, most caring guy she’d ever met. He was 6’3"—ten inches taller than her 5’5" frame -- 200 pounds of muscular man, and smart too. Despite the handsome, chiseled face that the girls all loved he was really shy and soft-spoken, and very sweet to her. They’d already talked about getting married, but they realized they would have to wait two years, until Ted finished college.

But Sally ached to give herself to him, which was the whole purpose of their weekend together, and she’d prepared for it by going on the pill several weeks before. She had also gone shopping at Victoria’s Secret, and had packed all the sexy outfits she had purchased.

The Evans’ cottage was on Lake Michigan, in an isolated area, located behind a small dune. It had a quarter-mile driveway that wound through a thick pine grove to a sunny clearing where the cottage stood on the lee side of a dune covered with grass and scrub pine. Ted and Sally immediately changed into their swimsuits, and Ted’s eyes popped out when he saw Sally’s 36C-24-34 figure in the skimpy yellow, halter-top bikini. It took every ounce of his willpower not to carry her off to the bedroom and make love to her on the spot. He wanted everything to be perfect the first time and he had planned everything carefully. A candlelight dinner at a very nice restaurant, followed by dancing, then soft music back at the cottage, champagne, and then ...

The couple laid out in lounge chairs on the sun deck for about an hour, then Ted suggested they go down to the lake and walk along the beach. They held hands as they strolled down the deserted strip of sand, skirting driftwood and other flotsam washed up by a recent summer storm. A few cottages and homes were visible through the pines but the area was sparsely populated and there was no one else in sight

They walked for nearly a mile, talking and laughing, and Ted was about to suggest they head back and get ready to go out when he spotted a strange object, half-buried in the sand. He pointed it out to Sally and they walked over to investigate. It turned out to be a bottle made of dark green glass with curious gold designs. It was oddly shaped, old-fashioned really, and had a stopper made of the same material.

"I wonder what’s in it?" Ted mused, noticing that the bottle appeared full.

"Maybe there’s a note inside—From someone stranded on a desert island!" Sally replied with a giggle.

"A desert island in Lake Michigan?" Ted laughed. "I love your imagination!"

"Well, there’s one way to find out—Open it!" Sally urged with a twinkle in her eyes.

Ted tried to remove the stopper but it wouldn’t budge at first. Not wanting to look like a wimp in front of Sally he tried again, straining and twisting the cap as he pulled. It finally came out with a loud hollow pop and Ted almost dropped the bottle. Then, as Ted and Sally watched, a fine green mist emerged from the bottle and ran down to the sand. The mist continued to pour from the bottle and Ted was too shocked to move. As they watched in wonder the mist began to coalesce into the figure of a very pretty young woman wearing an outfit that reminded Ted of a harem girl. When the woman opened her eyes and saw Ted an expression of delight crossed her face.

"By the gods! You are the most handsome master to possess me in four thousand years! She exclaimed, casting a calculating look at Sally before returning her eyes to Ted.

"Who—Who are you?" Ted asked, stunned by her magical appearance.

"I am Sheena, genie of the lamp. I was imprisoned by the djinn four thousand years ago, doomed to remain as I am until replaced by another. I am compelled to grant one wish to whomever possesses my bottle," she answered.

"This—This isn’t real!" Ted exclaimed skeptically, despite the evidence his eyes beheld.

"Oh, but it’s TRUE!" Sheena assured him. "I have been waiting 4,000 years for a master kind and generous enough to use his wish to replace me with another. I would be very grateful!" She added, looking at him seductively.

"But who would replace you?" Ted asked.

"Anyone you choose—Her, for instance," Sheena replied, nodding disdainfully at Sally.

"Whoa—Wait a minute!" Ted stopped her. "I would gladly use my wish to free you, but not at the cost of enslaving another, especially Sally! I love her deeply, and I’d rather die than hurt her!"

Sheena’s face clouded and she glared at Sally evilly. Then she smiled again at Ted. "Perhaps another then?" She asked hopefully.

"Ted shook his head sadly. "No Sheena. I feel terrible about your situation, but I could never wish it on another."

Sheena’s eyes flashed darkly at Ted and her expression became bitter. "Very well, wish for your riches so I can be on my way," she snapped.

I don’t want riches," Ted replied, looking at Sally. "I wish... I wish... that our hearts and souls always belong to each other, and that we never grow old," he said as he looked at Sally lovingly.

"You shall have your wish, stupid mortal, though it may be more than you bargained for!" Sheena spat, with a cruel, vindictive expression on her face.

Sally looked up at Ted lovingly, entranced by the beautiful sentiments expressed in his wish. Suddenly she felt very strange, almost like her consciousness, her soul, whatever it was that made her a unique human being, was lifting out of her body and floating above her head. She looked over at Ted and he seemed to be moving closer and closer, yet his body appeared motionless. She cast her eyes on Sheena and saw the genie’s face contorted in a wicked grin as she disappeared into her green mist. Then everything went dark.

Sally awoke slowly, in a daze. She knew she was lying on her back on the sand and she heard the placid water lapping at the shore, and the cry of gulls. She felt the warmth of the late afternoon sun on her skin and she squinted when her eyes finally opened. She remained still for a few moments, collecting her thoughts, until she recalled the incident with the genie. Her mind filled in the details slowly and she realized she must have passed out. She turned her head to where Ted had been standing but saw nothing but empty beach.

"Ted?" She called—and instantly knew something was VERY wrong. Her voice sounded completely different—deeper, stronger—completely foreign to her ears.

Sally was suddenly fully awake and she propped herself up on her elbows to look around. When she did she glanced down at herself and froze! Her narrow waist had been replaced by a taut masculine midsection that rippled with well-developed abs, and her shapely hips, thighs and legs were suddenly very muscular and definitely masculine! Instead of her sexy little bikini bottom she saw Ted’s navy blue Speedo, complete with a large bulge at the crotch!

"Oh my God!" She yelled in her deep masculine voice. She scrambled to her feet and spotted her own shapely form lying on the sand a few feet away. Sally froze, stunned and unable to believe her eyes. As she watched in disbelief she saw life returning to the body on the sand—HER body—and watched as the eyes fluttered for a moment then opened.

"Oh my God!" Sally repeated softly, beginning to comprehend what had happened. At that moment the figure on the sand looked over at her and Sally saw a look of confusion appear on her cute, feminine face.

Ted’s eyes began to focus as his consciousness returned, and he found himself staring at his twin. "What in the world..." He started to speak, then abruptly stopped. His voice sounded so odd to his ears—high-pitched and soft—almost ... feminine.

"Who are you?" He tried again, hearing the same soft tonal qualities. Suddenly his eyes went wide in horror as he struggled to a kneeling position, feeling his body moving awkwardly. Ted immediately looked down at himself and a piercing scream escaped his lips as he was confronted by the swell of Sally’s barely restrained breasts.

"Oh my God—NO! This CAN’T be real!" He screamed in his new high-pitched voice.

"I’m afraid it is," his own voice replied from his own body.

Ted stared at the other figure in disbelief. "Sally?" He asked, feeling suddenly light-headed.

His body nodded. "Yeah, it’s me."

Ted felt himself swaying, on the verge of blacking out, when suddenly he was steadied by a pair of strong hands. "Careful, you’ll hurt yourself!" His own voice warned him, adding: "Just sit down for a moment."

Sally eased Ted down to a sitting position, marveling at how soft her own body felt and how light it seemed to Ted’s strong arms. She held on to her feminized boyfriend until she was sure he wouldn’t keel over, then sat down facing him. The color had drained from his, or her face, and his eyes seemed empty and unfocused.

"What... I mean... How?" Ted tried to ask the obvious question but lapsed into silence and stared down at himself.

"Do you remember Sheena?" Sally asked gently.

Ted nodded silently, feeling Sally’s long blond hair brushing against his back.

"Well, when you refused to substitute me for her she twisted the meaning of your wish out of revenge. She’s full of evil and bitterness!" Sally exclaimed.

"I couldn’t do what she wanted," Ted replied very softly, his pretty blue eyes filling with tears.

"I know," Sally answered, "and I love you for it, and what you DID wish."

Sally felt her eyes getting moist too, and she looked away. When she did she realized she couldn’t see the genie’s bottle anywhere.

"NO!" She yelled and jumped to her feet, startling Ted. "The bottle—it’s GONE!" She exclaimed loudly, frantically searching the area. She had intended to use it herself to force Sheena to turn them back, but it was nowhere to be found, and without it they had no chance of being restored to their rightful forms.

She looked everywhere, and Ted helped a little, though he was having a very difficult time adjusting to his new body, and he felt weak and uncoordinated. Ted was no fool though, and he realized the consequences immediately. When they could not find it he was overcome with despair and wept openly, unable to control himself. Sally felt the same emotion—she desperately wanted her own body back—but she was able to keep her tears in check. When they finally gave up she sat down next to Ted and put her arm around him to comfort him, and when his tears finally stopped she helped him to his feet and they began the long walk back to the cottage.

Neither of them said a word as they trudged through the sand and Ted felt like an automaton, completely without feeling, as he put one foot in front of the other, still unable to comprehend what had occurred. As the shock began to wear off he began to notice strange sensations from Sally’s body. His hips swayed and his breasts bounced with each step, and he felt the halter strap tighten against his neck each time his new breasts dropped into the tiny cups of the skimpy halter. He felt the tiny bikini bottom stretched tightly over his shapely feminine bottom and his smooth groin, and his thighs brushed against each other with each step he took. The wind blew his long blonde hair across his face and into his eyes, forcing him to brush it to the side repeatedly.

Ted ventured a quick glance at his own body and saw Sally examining one of her hands, flexing her new fingers and staring at it in wonder. Ted felt like a little kid next to his own body, and he realized he was now 10 ½" shorter and over ninety pounds lighter than his former self. He had to walk quickly to keep up with Sally’s powerful strides, and it was tiring, especially in sand. Sally was unaware she was setting a grueling pace and Ted was too embarrassed to ask her to slow down, but eventually he was forced to beg her to ease up, as much as it hurt his pride to do so.

"Oh sure—Sorry, hon. I’m just not used to these long legs. Normally I have to hurry to keep up with you."

When they made it back to the cottage Ted put on Sally’s short, white satin beach wrap to cover himself, as much as he disliked the filmy, feminine garment, and they went inside.

"...but we’ve GOT to do SOMETHING!" Ted practically shouted, feeling an urgency borne of desperation. They were discussing what they could do to get themselves straightened out, but neither of them had any idea of how to go about it.

"I’ll do anything you want, honey. I want MY body back too! I’ll try ANYTHING—Just tell me what you want me to do!" Sally replied earnestly. She was just as frustrated as Ted and it showed on her (his) face.

Ted felt tears begin to form in his eyes again. He didn’t have any ideas—not a clue—but the idea of being stuck in Sally’s body was terrifying. He shrugged his shoulders helplessly, crossed his arms on the kitchen table and put his head down and began crying. After a few moments he felt a hand on his shoulder and Sally said: "Why don’t we plan on going back tomorrow, to the place we found the bottle, and look for it again? Who knows, maybe we were disoriented by the switch. We might have looked in the wrong place, or maybe it got into the lake somehow and got washed down the shore a bit."

Ted looked up and wiped the tears from his eyes with a distinctively feminine gesture. It wasn’t much, but it was a plan, and they had nothing else.

"Okay," he replied, brightening just a bit. Some hope, no matter how tenuous, was better than none.

A low rumbling sound in the pit of her stomach reminded Sally that she hadn’t had lunch, and apparently neither had Ted because she was starved.

"I’m famished!" She announced. "Is there anything here to eat?"

Ted shook his head. He had planned to take Sally out both tonight and tomorrow, and pick up a few groceries for breakfast and lunches. His plans were destroyed now, but they still had to eat.

"I was going to take you out," he told his girlfriend.

"Well, I guess that’s what we’ll have to do then," she replied.

"But, I can’t go out like THIS!" Ted protested.

"Why not? Nobody will know it is you," Sally pointed out. "Besides, you won’t have to wear my bikini," she chuckled, making Ted cringe.

"Sally, this isn’t funny! I’m not a girl! I sure won’t know how to act, and I don’t want to wear your clothes!"

His masculinized girlfriend shrugged. "There’s nothing else that will fit you, besides, your posture looks completely normal—for your, ah, body that is."

Ted looked down at himself and was shocked to discover he was sitting on the edge of his seat, like women tend to do, and that his knees were pressed together and his legs canted to one side in a very feminine manner. He was leaning forward with his arms crossed beneath his breasts, just as he’d seen Sally do a hundred times, and even as he inspected himself he unconsciously brushed his long hair behind his ear, just like Sally did.

"Just don’t call me ‘Sally’ and you’ll do fine," his girlfriend assured him.

Ted stared at Sally sheepishly and noticed that she was sitting with her legs apart and her hands clasped in front of her on the table—one of HIS mannerisms. She appeared completely masculine in her posture and gestures, and Ted surmised that the mannerisms went with the body. "But your clothes..." He objected weakly.

"...are designed for that body," Sally pointed out. "Nobody will think anything is wrong, and I guarantee you won’t look like a guy in drag," she asserted.

Ted stood in the bedroom staring at Sally’s form in the mirror with a stunned expression. He was naked, and Sally had laid a complete outfit for him on the bed, including a bra, panties, pantyhose, skirt and top. When he complained about the tight, skimpy outfit she told him it was all she brought besides the clothes she had been wearing, and she reminded him that she had chosen the outfits for their special weekend, to please him. Ted had to admit that he would have loved to see her in the outfit, and despite the fact he had no desire to wear it himself he really couldn’t complain.

Sally had left the room at Ted’s request, though she remarked she was quite used to the sight of her own body, but Ted felt very self-conscious with her in the room. So now he stood before the mirror on the closet door examining Sally’s exquisite, feminine body in minute detail. His girlfriend was even more beautiful than he had dreamed, though he now found that very awkward and embarrassing. Her lovely face was graced with large, innocent blue eyes, a small perky nose, high cheekbones and very kissable lips. Her golden hair framed her face perfectly and fell in a mass of soft curls to her shoulderblades and the tops of her perfectly formed breasts. She had a smooth, flawless complexion, and was perfectly tanned except for the tan lines that traced the outline of her tiny bikini. Her nipples were large and pink, and pushed out from darker aureole as large as silver dollars. Her tiny waist gave way to smooth, feminine thighs and perfectly proportioned, sexy legs. Her small, size 7 feet were dainty and high-arched, and the light coral polish on her toenails matched the polish on her long, sculpted fingernails. Nestled between her legs was a small patch of blonde pubic hair, and Ted could just make out the vertical opening to her vagina between her pink labia. Turning sidewise he saw the wonderful curve of Sally’s marvelous bottom and he groaned in agony. He had longed to touch this body, to make love to it, but now that was impossible—he was "wearing" it.

Ted resisted the urge to touch himself and explore Sally’s form—Somehow it just didn’t seem right—and turned to the clothes on the bed. Putting the panties on was easy enough, but the white, lacy, high-cut bikini felt nothing like his old jockey shorts. The matching decollate bra gave him some real problems, but once he managed to hook the back the rest was easy. He simply slipped his arms through the straps and pulled them up over his shoulders, though he did have to arrange his newly-acquired breasts in the cups until the bra felt comfortable, or at least as comfortable as it was going to get. The cups only covered half his breasts, rising about an inch above "his" nipples, and pushed soft mounds inward and upward, creating a deep, alluring cleavage.

The feminized man tried not to think about it as he sat on the bed and reached for his pantyhose. Sally had given him a quick tip on the nylons so he knew enough to roll them up, cross his legs and unroll the sheer, tan stockings over his knee repeating the process with his other, magnificently sculptured leg. Then he stood up and pulled the silky stockings over his hips to his narrow waist. The delicate hose clung to Ted’s legs and hips like a second skin and felt strangely sensuous. He heard a soft hiss when he rose from the bed and his nylon-clad thighs brushed together. When he wiggled his toes he felt a smooth silky sensation from the stockings.

Next Ted picked up the white, sleeveless knit top Sally left for him and looked at it dubiously. It seemed awfully small and he doubted it would fit, but he had to assume Sally knew what she was doing when it came to her own clothes so he pushed his head through the neck opening, then threaded his arms through the sides and pulled it down over his breasts, not without some effort. It was skin tight, sleeveless, and low cut. Ted was dismayed to discover it clung to every curve of his new body and revealed a generous amount of cleavage. From the front his breasts appeared so full and ripe that they actually concealed some of his thin arms when he held them at his sides, and he found that his arms actually grazed his breasts when he moved them forward. Even with a bra his nipples pushed into the fabric slightly, and Ted wondered how he’d have the nerve to show himself like this even as he tucked his bra straps under the wider straps of the top.

"Damn!" He breathed, awed and disturbed by his own reflection as he reached for the black miniskirt he had to wear. Being a guy he knew exactly how other guys would react to seeing a chick like this, and knew one thing for certain: There was no way he could go out alone dressed like this! Guys would be hitting on him constantly. His only hope was to stick with Sally every minute!

Ted picked up the black spandex miniskirt, which looked like a wide belt to him, and unzipped the zipper. He stepped into it reluctantly and found that, even with the zipper down he had to squirm into the tight skirt, wiggling his hips as he pulled it up to his waist. He pulled the zipper up, exhaling to ease the task, and stared at his reflection. The microscopic skirt barely covered his vulva and hugged his hips like it was shrink-wrapped to his body.

"Sally!" He called, and his girlfriend entered the room dressed in his good slacks and dress shirt and carrying his tie and blazer.

"Hey—Not bad! Not bad at all!" She remarked when she saw her boyfriend.

"Sally, I just CAN’T go out looking like this! I feel like I’m on display—Like I’m a walking ad for Victoria’s Secret!"

Sally chuckled. Relax! You’re just not used to women’s’ clothes. They ARE designed to show off your figure, but that’s what girls wear—What I was going to wear -----for you—You’ll be fine."

"But, this outfit screams ‘sex!’" Ted protested.

"I suppose it does, but that was the idea when I bought it. Besides, we’ll be together. Nobody is going to put a move on you when you’re with me," she said confidently.

After several moments Ted’s shoulders sagged and he sighed. "Okay, I’ll try it—just this once—but you gotta promise to stay with me every minute!"

"I’ll stick to you like glue," Sally reassured him. "Now, I need your help with this tie . . ."

She passed the tie to Ted who draped it around his feminine neck and tied a perfect four-in-hand knot, noticing how the tie draped itself over his bulging breast as he did.

Sally adjusted the tie, then over Ted’s feeble protests she applied some light makeup to his face. She dropped her wallet, a hairbrush, and a few cosmetics into a small purse then left him to brush his hair. Outside the bedroom Sally put on Ted’s blazer and noticed a small bulge in one of the pockets. She reached into the pocket and discovered a small, blue velvet jewelry box, and when she opened it she was stunned to see a diamond engagement ring. Realizing that Ted had intended to give it to her, probably tonight, her eyes misted up and she choked back a sob. Her heart was bursting with love for him and aching over what Sheena had done to them. She had ruined their lives and Sally’s bitterness grew as she contemplated what might have been. She gazed at the beautiful, heart-shaped diamond, imagining what it would have looked like on her finger, then snapped the box lid closed and slipped the box into Ted’s suitcase.

Ted clung to Sally as he wobbled toward the car in his girlfriend’s black, patent leather pumps. The shoes had 3 ½" heels, and though they gave him a little extra height Ted was barely able to cope with the alien footwear. Sally tried to help, telling him to keep his weight forward and take smaller steps, but even with her assistance Ted had problems. The heels thrust his chest and hips forward, and he felt a tension in his calves as the high heels shaped them sexily. The tight skirt didn’t help either, and he was embarrassed to have to cling to Sally for support.

Sally drove them to the restaurant—Ted had no desire to try driving in high heels—and opened the passenger’s door for her boyfriend and helped him out of the car. Ted did a little better on the way in, but he still hung onto Sally, especially when going up the steps.

"I feel so damn helpless!" He whispered to his girl as the maitre’d showed them to a small corner table.

"You’ll get used to the heels," Sally replied, but Ted shook his head. "I hope not," he remarked, causing her to laugh.

The dinner was delicious, and afterwards their waiter brought a single, long-stemmed rose on a small silver tray and set it in front of Ted. Sally was confused so Ted told her he had ordered the rose when he made the reservation, a week before.

"It was supposed to be for you," he explained unnecessarily. "You’ll find a box in my coat pocket that goes with it."

Sally reached across the table and covered his hands with hers. "I found it before we left. It’s beautiful!" She told him.

Ted looked down at her large hands covering his petite, feminine hands then raised his eyes to meet hers. "Yeah, well I guess we can forget that idea now," he replied despairingly.

"Not forget—just postpone," Sally disagreed, her voice cracking with anguish.

Ted stared at her cynically. "Sally, you know as well as me that the odds of—"

"DON’T!" She interrupted. "Don’t give up hope—Not yet! Let’s wait and see what happens."

"Yeah, sure," Ted replied bitterly. "But, what happens in two days if we aren’t ... back to normal? Have you thought about that?"

Sally was silent for a long time, then she sighed. "Yeah, I have," she admitted.

"And?"

"The only thing that I could come up with is for us to pass as each other, until . . ."

"It won’t work—I thought about that too," Ted told her. "We both have a million memories, dozens of people—hundreds—that we’ve met during our lives. There’s no way we could give each other all that knowledge."

"Then what do we do?" Sally asked. "If we tell people what happened to us they’ll lock us up as mental cases, or if they actually believe us we’ll be freaks and the government or someone else will want to ‘study’ us like lab rats. We’d NEVER get away from ‘em or be allowed to live freely."

"That thought has been bothering me, too," Ted admitted. "What happened to us was terrible, but I don’t want to live the rest of my life as a freak or a test subject!"

"So why don’t we at least TRY to pass for each other?" Sally asked, and it was more of a plea for Ted’s cooperation.

Ted closed his eyes and nodded his assent. He tried to push the tears away but he wasn’t completely successful.

At a nearby table a middle-aged couple had noticed the waiter bring a rose to the pretty young girl in the corner. They had watched as her boyfriend put his hands over hers and spoke to her earnestly. Finally they saw the girl nod her head and begin to cry softly. The wife smiled and looked at her husband, who grinned back at her and remembered the night he had proposed to her. "Way to go!" He remarked softly, to himself, congratulating the boy before he returned his gaze to his wife.

Ted made his way back to the table, absently weaving his way between the other diners. He had just used a ladies room for the first time in his life and the experience had been bizarre, to say the least. Aside from the strange surroundings (the tampon dispenser and the lack of urinals) and the weird differences in attending to the call of nature, he had actually touched up his makeup, which had run when he cried. Sally had given him a few hints before he left but it still took nearly twenty minutes to handle everything. He was too preoccupied to notice the admiring glances from the male patrons, or that he was now walking in Sally’s high heels without difficulty, but Sally noticed both as she watched her mini-skirted boyfriend make his way back.

Ted and Sally returned to the cottage around ten o’clock, after picking up some groceries at a convenience store. Sally removed her shirt and tie, slacks and shoes, and got into a pair of Ted’s cut-offs and a tee shirt, but Ted inspected what little Sally had brought and decided not to change. Everything was so much worse than what he was wearing. The only alternatives were a babydoll nightie, or hot pants and a cropped tee, unless he wanted to put Sally’s bikini back on. So Ted simply kicked off the high heels and slipped his feet into her ballerina slippers.

The transposed lovers sat across from each other at the kitchen table, and after planning to start their search early the next morning they began exchanging personal information that would help each "pass" as the other. There was an unbelievable amount of information to absorb so they took turns, asking questions about the other’s family, relatives, old friends, and personal histories. Four hours and two pots of coffee later they had only scratched the surface, but Ted could barely keep his eyes open and they got ready for bed.

Sally finally talked Ted into wearing her babydoll, albeit with her beach wrap, and Ted changed quickly, refusing to look at himself, and laid down with a blanket and a pillow on a small couch in the living room. When Sally saw him scrunched up on the sofa she offered to switch places and give Ted the bed.

"No, you’re my guest," Ted declined.

"Well, okay, but tomorrow I’ll take the couch and you take the bed, "she countered.

Ted awoke at 8:00 feeling stiff and sore from sleeping on the cramped couch. At first he was confused by the strange sensations his body was sending his brain, then he recalled the events of the previous day and groaned. Looking down at himself he saw his newly-acquired breasts encased in the virtually transparent babydoll, and his smooth, feminine legs exposed by the short, sexy, nightie, and he rose to his feet and brushed his long blonde hair behind his back. His pillow was smudged with makeup and Ted realized he had forgotten to remove the "war paint" before going to bed. It wasn’t something that was on his nightly agenda, though he was afraid it might be in the future if they couldn’t find that damned Sheena.

Ted stretched and rolled his neck to get the kinks out and headed for the bathroom. After staring at his face for several minutes he washed his new countenance and brushed his teeth, Taking some pleasure in the fact that he would not need to shave. He relieved himself and it didn’t seem quite as strange as the first time, then washed his hands and went into the kitchen to make a pot of coffee. His feet felt cold against the tile floor so he slipped them into Sally’s ballerina slippers before clearing away the previous night’s dishes and wiping the table.

Sally was still sleeping but Ted decided to make breakfast, planning to wake her up when it was ready. He grumbled to himself when he was unable to reach the upper shelves in the cupboard and had to drag a chair over to the counter and stand on it to get the plates. Somewhere in the process Sally’s beach wrap fell open but Ted didn’t notice as he began preparing the bacon and eggs. He sipped his coffee while he worked and didn’t notice Sally was up until she wrapped her arm around his waist and gave him a brief, affectionate hug.

"Good morning, honey. How are you feeling?" She asked.

Ted felt his usual affection for Sally, but his body had responded to the hug in a very strange way. He felt a warm glow spread through him and a tingling sensation centered in his nipples caused him to shiver.

"Uh, fine. . . The coffee is ready if you’d like a cup," He replied, puzzled and distracted by his reaction. He dished out the breakfast while Sally poured herself a cup of coffee and sat down. Ted served her and sat down across from her and looked into his own face, noticing the beard stubble.

"You’ll have to shave after breakfast," he pointed out, eliciting a nervous grin from his girlfriend.

"I know," she acknowledged in her new baritone voice, "but I don’t know the first thing about shaving your face. Would you show me how?"

"Sure," Ted agreed, realizing they needed each other more than ever.

After breakfast Ted showed Sally how to shave, and the former girl was relieved when she only nicked herself a couple of times. It was certainly a strange experience and she expected the razor to hurt like hell, but Ted’s tougher skin held up well and she was thankful she hadn’t slit her throat.

Ted did the dishes while Sally finished up and was in the process of dragging a chair to the counter to put the plates away when Sally returned. She asked what he was doing and when he told her she stepped over to the counter, opened the cupboard, and slid the plates back on the stack. It was easy for her with her superior height and longer arms, and she got a real kick out of her new size, but Ted felt embarrassed and depressed that he needed help with such a simple task. He recalled being able to touch the ceiling while standing flat-footed, and remembered all the times his mother had asked him to reach something high or lift something heavy, and it was humiliating to find himself in the less capable, female role. But he set those thoughts aside—they had a genie to find—and he went to the bedroom to change.

Ted felt less self-conscious about wearing Sally’s bikini than he had yesterday. Of course the initial shock had worn off, he told himself as the two of them made their way down the beach. Acting on Sally’s advice, his hair was pulled back in a ponytail and he was wearing her pink fannypack containing sunscreen, lip balm, sun glasses and a hairbrush. They moved slowly, searching both the beach and the shallow water, and they resumed their exchange of personal information as they walked. As the exchange continued Ted realized that he understood Sally a lot better than he would have thought possible, and as the morning wore on he found he could almost visualize some of the events she described.

Sally experienced the same sensation, perhaps even more than Ted, because her new body was beginning to send strange signals to her brain. As time passed she found herself increasingly attracted to the lovely feminine form that she was starting to think of as Ted’s. She had to remind herself several times that it was HER body that she was drawn to, and even then she felt her new masculine organ becoming aroused. She was amazed at how quickly and effortlessly that occurred, and she realized just how much of a gentleman Ted had been. She had always known he wanted her but she had never appreciated the self control it had taken to keep his hands off her! Now she did, because she was forced to restrain herself from the same impulses, and she hoped she could do as well as Ted. She also realized that Ted’s love and respect for her was the reason he had been willing to wait, and at that moment she realized she loved him more than ever.

The morning disappeared and Ted and Sally found themselves several miles down the beach—well past the area they had found the bottle. A small resort town lay just ahead and they could see public beaches, a marina, and several beach - front restaurants.

"Why don’t we get some lunch, then re-trace our steps and look again?" Sally suggested.

"Sure," Ted agreed. He was hungry too. "But I didn’t bring any money."

"My treat," Sally grinned. She stuck her hand into the pocket of Ted’s swim trunks and pulled out a few bills.

Ted felt his chair slide effortlessly toward the table and he turned his head to see Sally helping him. A moment earlier, as they ascended the steps to the open-air restaurant deck Sally had gestured for Ted to go first, and the feminized male was confused by Sally’s odd behavior.

"What’s going on?" He asked in a whisper when Sally sat across from him.

"Just keeping up appearances," she replied in a low voice. "You’ve always opened doors and held chairs for me, so I thought . . ."

Ted nodded and a slight smile crossed his face. Sally was making an effort to be a gentleman, something he knew didn’t come easy. It probably seemed as strange to her as it did for him to be on the receiving end of the small courtesies. It also reminded Ted that he was supposed to act like a lady and he frowned when he considered what that meant. He wasn’t certain he knew how to be a lady, but after their fruitless search it was looking more and more like he had no choice. While Sally had not said anything there was almost no hope of finding the bottle, or Sheena, now.

Sally saw the frown on Ted’s face and guessed what was going through his mind. She was becoming used to the idea that she could spend the rest of her life as a guy—specifically Ted—but she knew the switch was harder for her boyfriend. He was now smaller, weaker, two years behind in his education, and he hadn’t even experienced his first period yet! That would come in about a week.

The new "boy" started talking about different things, anything she could think of to get Ted’s mind off his "situation," and after a awhile it began to work. Slowly, Sally drew Ted out and kept the conversation in "safe" areas. While they talked Sally started to compile a mental list of the advantages of being female—to use on Ted later—but there weren’t many that came to mind that would even begin to convince him to be happy with the switch. That was something she would have to work on.

After lunch they re-traced their steps, but they continued on when they drew even with the cottage in case the bottle had drifted north. But after another couple of hours they gave up and turned around. By that time Ted was convinced that the bottle and Sheena were gone for good, and he hardly put any effort into searching on the way back. Meanwhile Sally kept up a steady monologue on her life and Ted listened to her just to keep his mind off his predicament.

"Honey, I want to get something to eat and see a movie," Sally announced.

Ted was curled up on the couch, staring into space with unfocused eyes, and Sally was worried about him. He had been completely silent and listless since they had returned to the cottage and Sally felt he was shutting out the world. She felt she had to keep him moving, doing things, to keep him from withdrawing into himself completely. Besides, just sitting around wasn’t doing her any good either.

"I really don’t feel like going anywhere," Ted replied softly.

"Please? Do it for me—I’m going crazy just sitting here!" Sally begged.

Ted’s eyes focused on Sally and he saw her look of anguish, which mirrored his own mood, so he reluctantly agreed. Regardless of what body Sally inhabited he couldn’t stand to see her like that. If it would make her feel better he would go along.

"All right," he agreed without enthusiasm and swung his legs off the couch.

Thirty minutes later they left the cottage dressed in the same outfits they had each worn the previous evening. Sally had asked Ted to use her makeup, ostensibly because she couldn’t stand to see herself go out without it, but her request was really made to force Ted to get used to wearing a little lipstick, blush and mascara. He actually hadn’t done too badly and Sally only had to correct one small flaw. Ted wanted Sally to drive but she suggested he drive instead, to give him some experience driving with heels on. Ted adjusted the seat forward, then the mirror, and noticed there was still a small smudge of lipstick at the corner of his mouth. He used a tissue to remove the smudge while Sally looked out the passenger window and pretended not to notice.

Ted felt very uncomfortable driving in high heels and a mini-skirt, but he took it slow and discovered he could manage, though he wasn’t really comfortable. His driving was amateurish, his movements jerky, and he felt like he had no "feel" for the road. He drove them to a small family restaurant and barely noticed when Sally took his arm and escorted him inside. She held the door for him, then took his arm and steered him towards an open booth.

The feminized man did notice the admiring stares of the male diners as Sally walked him to the booth, but he ignored them. He was more surprised by the looks he was getting from the women in the restaurant and it took a few moments before he realized that they were envious, even jealous, of his youthful, feminine body and pretty face. He chuckled softly (it sounded to Sally like a girlish giggle) and told Sally about it when they were seated, figuring she’d get a laugh out of the situation.

"If they only knew!" He remarked.

"Sure they’re jealous—You are absolutely GORGEOUS!" Sally whispered back, adding: "They’d probably give anything to look as beautiful as you."

Perhaps it was the way Sally said it, but Ted felt a quickening of his pulse and a strange warmth in his face, and realized that he was blushing! It was a bizarre reaction that puzzled him completely. SHE was beautiful, not him. Was Sally indulging in a little self-praise, or was she merely making a statement of fact from her new perspective? If she meant to compliment HIM it made no sense, no sense at all. He certainly hadn’t done anything to EARN any praise—he was merely a victim of circumstances. Of course, nobody really earned their appearance, though you could enhance your looks. Basically a person was born with, and stuck with, their appearance—even cute girls.

Then it struck him that, in a sense, he too had been "born" like this. While he had done nothing to earn his looks he was no different than any other pretty girl in that respect. It was all terribly confusing, and he did his best to just put it out of his mind, but as the meal progressed Ted felt a pleasant warmth inside himself, and he relaxed noticeably.

After dinner Ted asked Sally to drive to the theater. He knew now that he could drive while wearing high heels, but he had to work at it and he didn’t really feel comfortable. The parking lot was dimly lit and full of potholes and cracks in the pavement and Ted was grateful for Sally’s arm as they made their way to the entrance. He stood next to her as she bought the tickets, and it was only when they walked towards theater 8 that Ted realized he had no idea which movie they were seeing. Sally hadn’t discussed it with him and he hadn’t asked. He was even more surprised to discover he really didn’t care which movie they watched.

Ted’s nylons made a whispering sound and his hips gyrated as they walked to the theater. His breasts bobbed sexily but he barely noticed. The high heels, the mini-skirt, even the tight, low-cut top felt perfectly natural to him now, and he was quite comfortable wearing them. He really didn’t need Sally’s help to walk either, but for some reason he maintained his grip on her arm and she didn’t seem to mind one bit.

During the movie Sally rested her arm on the back of Ted’s seat, and when Ted shifted his legs slightly to angle his feet to one side he felt Sally’s hand on his shoulder. Ted’s first instinct was to pull away, but a subtle, pleasant sensation overrode his impulse and he actually felt himself lean against his masculinized girlfriend. The warmth of her body and the spicy aroma of her aftershave affected Ted strangely, and he felt himself relax completely and enjoy the feeling.

After the movie Sally took Ted’s arm again and he let her steer him through the lobby and out to the car. Instead of walking him to the passenger’s side, as Ted expected, Sally opened the driver’s door and held it for him.

"Why don’t you drive? I really don’t want to," Ted told her as she waited for him to get in.

"Okay," Sally shrugged. "Just get in slide over a bit."

Ted did as she suggested, though he didn’t slide over all that much, and Sally got in behind him. Ted shifted his legs past the transmission, angling them to the right, and when Sally got in they were close to each other, though not quite touching. She put her arm around his shoulders as she had during the movie, but now she turned Ted towards herself and gave him a long, passionate kiss.

Ted was taken completely by surprise, then he panicked. Sally’s warm, soft lips covered his and he was overwhelmed by a blizzard of sensations and strange emotions. He felt Sally’s strong arms encircle him and suddenly he felt his nipples become aroused and pressed into her strong, muscular chest. He felt her hard thigh against his soft, feminine hip, and an incandescent heat flooded him. He felt a curious moistness between his legs and he was terribly confused and disoriented. Finally, he broke the kiss, gasping for breath.

"Sally! What are you DOING!" He breathed, desperately trying to catch his breath and slow his pounding heart. "This . . . isn’t right!"

"I, I’m sorry," his masculine girlfriend apologized, turning to grip the steering wheel in embarrassment. "I . . . don’t know what came over me, but I suddenly had to . . . I mean, I had this overwhelming impulse to . . . I couldn’t help myself!"

From the look on Sally’s face Ted saw she was telling the truth and that she was as shocked as he. Still, that was no excuse! He was about to lecture her on restraining her impulses when he remembered that his feminine body had responded exactly as Sally had once responded to him, and that REALLY scared him. It meant he was as susceptible as any girl to the "right" man in the "right" situation. It had taken every ounce of willpower to pull away from Sally’s kisses, and even then he could feel his body was "turned on" and wanted more! This whole situation was even worse than he thought! Ted scooted over until he was pressed against the passenger door and they finished their drive to the cottage in silence.

Sally felt terrible. She felt as though she had betrayed Ted’s trust and taken advantage of him. His poor male ego had taken a terrific beating in the past day and a half and she had just added insult to injury. Her only excuse was her lack of experience in controlling the explosive male libido she now possessed. It was ALWAYS there, just below the surface, like a simmering tea kettle kept just below the boiling point. All it took was a tiny bit of extra heat and she was instantly aroused!

Her recent experience made her realize how difficult it was for men to restrain their impulses, which in turn increased her admiration for Ted. The fact that he had controlled his passions and not pressured her for sex—honoring her decision—only increased her love for Ted. She was beginning to realize how much he truly loved her, and she resolved then and there to be just as worthy of HIS love and trust, and to keep her hands off him at all costs.

Sally turned onto the beach road leading to the cottage a few minutes later, but less than a hundred yards from the intersection the front right tire found a piece of sharp steel and blew with a loud bang. It took every bit of Sally’s newfound strength to keep the car from careening into the ditch, but she was finally able to bring the car to a stop without hitting anything or running off the road. She looked over at Ted.

"Are you okay?" She asked.

" Yeah, but the tire isn’t. You’ll have to change it," her boyfriend informed her.

"You’ll have to show me what to do. I’ve never changed a tire in my life," Sally informed her feminized boyfriend.

"No problem," Ted replied. "It isn’t hard, and I’ll hold the light for you."

Ted retrieved a flashlight from the glove compartment, checked to see that it worked, and they both exited the car, with Sally activating the emergency blinkers and pressing the remote trunk release. Acting on Ted’s instructions, she removed the jack and spare tire and carried them to the front of the car. Ted explained how to position the jack and remove the hubcap and Sally began loosening the lugnuts. When that was done she jacked the car high enough to replace the tire and removed the lugnuts with her hands. Ted held the light and told her what to do, and Sally replaced the flat tire with the spare.

As she was finishing hand-tightening the lugnuts a beat up old pickup truck turned the corner and pulled up next to the car. Ted saw two men get out and he retreated a step or two as they approached.

"Havin’ troubles?" One of the men asked, staring at Ted’s breasts in a way that made him extremely uncomfortable.

"Flat tire," Sally replied as she finished tightening the last lugnut. "But it’s okay, I’m almost done," she added.

The other occupant of the truck had approached from the rear of the car and Ted saw that the two men were both large, over six feet tall, and beefy. When he glanced at the second man Ted saw that he, too, was leering at his bustline, and he began to get a bad feeling about the situation. Then the second man looked over at his partner and a silent message seemed to pass between them.

Before Ted could warn Sally the second man kicked Sally in the side while the first grabbed the jack handle and struck her across the side of her head. Sally went down without a sound, unconscious, and Ted feared she was dead. He screamed in horror, but before he could move he was grabbed from behind and a large, rough hand covered his mouth.

"Now you be a good little girl, and do exactly what you’re told, and maybe we’ll leave you and your boyfriend alive when we’re done with ya," his captor whispered.

Ted was squirming, trying to break free, and at the same time he was trying to control his terror, outrage and humiliation. If he was only himself he would teach this clown a lesson he’d never forget—assuming he survived the lesson. But he wasn’t himself, and he was helpless against them! He was breathing heavily and his heart was pounding as he imagined what they were going to do to him. Horrible, nightmarish images flooded his mind as he knew he was about to be raped! The first man moved in front of him and grinned evilly as he reached out and roughly grabbed Ted’s breasts. Ted tried to scream but the man who held him twisted his head painfully and whispered a warning that froze his blood.

Meanwhile Ted felt his skirt being unzipped clumsily by the one in front of him, and a moment later it was yanked down to his ankles.

"Shee-it! Pantyhose! Hold ‘er whilst I take care of that little detail," he ordered his companion.

To Ted’s horror the man who spoke produced a knife, and after warning Ted not to squirm, he proceeded to slice the crotch out of Ted’s pantyhose, then slashed his panties and pulled them through the gaping hole. Ted was moaning in terror now, a keening sound that only escaped through his nostrils as he was manhandled into the back seat of the car. His top was stripped off him and his bra was slashed off. The two monsters argued briefly over who would go first, then one scrambled on top of Ted while the other pulled their truck off the road.

Ted’s legs were forced apart and he sobbed and begged as the "lucky" one unzipped his pants and pushed them down to his knees. Ted could feel the rapist’s hard cock pressing against his crotch as his assailant roughly grabbed his breasts.

"NOOO!" He screamed, and was rewarded with a vicious slap across his face that drew blood from the corner of his mouth and left him dazed.

"None of that missy, or I’ll have to hurt you bad," he warned, and Ted was reduced to begging and whimpering.

Suddenly Ted heard a sickening thud, like a baseball bat smashing into a ripe melon, and he screamed, guessing that the other rapist had killed Sally. Apparently the one on top of him thought the same, and he leered at Ted malevolently. "Well, there’s no hope for you now. Cain’t leave no witnesses, can we now?"

But before the rapist could do anything he was yanked backwards by the neck, and Ted saw Sally deliver a crushing blow to his skull with the jack handle. The rapist collapsed to the ground in a heap and Ted saw Sally debating whether to finish him off. To his relief she dropped the weapon.

Sally turned and stared down at him and Ted could see that Sally’s head was bleeding and that she was definitely in pain. But Sally saw her own naked body bleeding from the mouth, dazed, and she retrieved a blanket she had seen in the trunk and wrapped it around her stunned boyfriend. Ted held it around himself, shaking uncontrollably, and sobbed at the thought of what had just occurred. He clung to Sally as she helped him back into the front seat, and he clutched at her when she turned to finish the tire.

"Don’t go!" He begged, leaning against her.

"The tire . . ." Sally replied, stroking his hair. "I’ll only be a moment."

Sally pried herself loose from Ted and quickly finished tightening the lugs. She lowered the jack, tossed it in the trunk, then retrieved Ted’s skirt and pumps. As she handed them to her terrified boyfriend who was still cowering in the back seat she heard one of the would-be rapists groan and roll over onto his side. It was the one with the knife, and Sally kicked him in the head and took the blade. She walked over to the beat up truck and used the knife to puncture all four tires.

"They won’t be following us now," she assured Ted as she helped him from the back seat into the front and got behind the wheel.

"Did you kill either of them?" Ted asked, his eyes still wide with terror.

"No, at least I don’t think so, but neither of them will feel very good when they wake up," she replied with a smug grin.

Ted began trembling again on the way back and Sally reached over and pulled him close, telling him he was OK and that he was safe now.

"I felt so . . . HELPLESS!" Ted sobbed. "I tried to fight, but he . . . they . . . were just too strong! I couldn’t stop them!"

"I know," Sally replied sympathetically, her voice soothing, "but it’s all over. They can’t hurt you now."

Sally helped Ted out of the car and into the cottage, holding him close to ease his fears. When they got inside and turned on the lights Ted noticed the gash in Sally’s head. "Oh, your poor head—You’re bleeding!" He exclaimed.

"I’ll be okay," she replied, touching her scalp gingerly.

"Sit down at the table—I’ll get the first-aid kit," Ted told her as he left for the bedroom. While he was there he discarded the blanket and quickly put Sally’s beach wrap on, oblivious to the fact that it was translucent and really covered nothing. He grabbed the first-aid kit and returned to the kitchen to work on his girlfriend. She had a nasty lump to go with the cut, but no concussion, and no stitches would be needed. He cleaned the wound, applied antiseptic and a surgical pad, and wrapped a gauze bandage around her head. All he had for the pain was aspirin, so he gave her three with a glass of water.

"Thanks," Sally caught his hand and smiled up at her gorgeous boyfriend, unable to miss the sight of his delectable nipples pushing into the filmy beach wrap.

"It was the least I could do," Ted replied. "If you hadn’t stopped the Bastards . . "

"Yeah, well, they’re just a bad memory now," Sally assured him, gently slipping her arm around his waist.

"Do you think we should call the police?" Ted asked.

Sally thought for a moment. "No, for two reasons. First, my parents might find out we’re together and, second, our ‘situation’ might cause . . . complications. Let’s just leave things as they are."

Ted just nodded and accepted Sally’s decision. "Okay Hon," he agreed.

Ted went to remove his slashed panties and pantyhose and to get cleaned up. While he took a bath Sally changed into a pair of cutoffs and a tee shirt and made her bed on the sofa. When Ted emerged from the bathroom, once again in Sally’s babydoll nightie, he didn’t see Sally anywhere and he panicked. He checked the bedroom, and by the time he found her curled up on the couch he was practically in tears.

"What are you doing THERE?" He asked, extremely agitated.

"What? Oh, it’s your turn on the bed," Sally reminded him.

Ted remembered, but after the nightmare he’d just lived through the thought of being by himself terrified him. He knew it was an irrational fear—Sally would only be thirty or forty feet away—but in his frame of mind that seemed like MILES! He was too scared and felt too vulnerable to sleep alone.

"Uh - Sally? I know this is silly, but . . . I really don’t feel like being alone tonight. Could you—I mean, would you mind . . . keeping me company?" He asked in a small voice.

Sally looked up at her feminized boyfriend and saw the fear in his face. She swung her legs off the couch and stood up. "Sure, I understand," she told him.

They slept on opposite sides of the bed, but Sally awoke in the middle of the night to find her deliciously feminine boyfriend curled up against her. He looked terribly sweet and innocent in the dim moonlight, and Sally felt an overpowering urge to protect him, to keep him safe and secure. She wrapped an arm around him protectively and noticed a small, dreamy smile spread across his sleeping countenance. Ted sighed softly in his sleep and cuddled even closer. It was a long time though before Sally could join him in dreamland.

Ted awoke before Sally, opening his eyes to discover he was nestled against Sally, on the wrong side of the bed, with her arm draped over him. His momentary confusion melted away when he recalled the events of the previous night, and he shuddered when he remembered what nearly happened to him. Suddenly he was glad she was holding him. It felt . . . comforting, and surprisingly nice, and though he was fully awake he closed his eyes and savored the feeling and the warmth of her body against his. He didn’t try to analyze the feelings or ponder their significance. He simply enjoyed them, and continued to enjoy them until he felt the call of nature.

Ted carefully disentangled himself from Sally’s embrace and slipped quietly out of bed to avoid disturbing her. He slipped his feet into Sally’s ballerina slippers and tiptoed softly out of the room. After he finished his morning ablutions Ted put on a pot of coffee and scrounged around for something to make for breakfast, but there were only a few eggs, no bread or milk, and just a few strips of bacon. It looked like they’d be eating out for breakfast.

Ted made his way back to the bedroom and retrieved Sally’s hotpants, cropped tee shirt, a bra and panties, and her wedge sandals. He took everything into the bathroom to get ready. If there was one thing he had learned since becoming a girl it was that it took a lot longer to get dressed, so he started immediately. He stepped into the white satin, French-cut panties and slipped his arms through the straps of the matching, low-cut, satiny bra. He was surprised at how easily he was able to fasten the triple row of tiny wire hooks this morning, and he actually smiled when he recalled the contortions he had performed to get into a bra the previous day. After he adjusted his voluptuous breasts in the cups he stepped into the tight, navy blue hotpants and pulled them up over his feminine hips. They were as tight as the rest of Sally’s clothes, but somehow Ted wasn’t particularly concerned anymore. He picked up the white cropped tee and pulled it down over his breasts, then pulled his hair free and stepped over to the mirror. The sight of Sally’s adorable reflection, while strange, no longer shocked him. He concentrated on straightening his top and brushing his golden mane, though he was a little distracted by flashbacks of awakening with Sally’s arm around him. When he finished brushing his hair he pushed his feet into the cute, wedge sandals and fastened the straps.

Sally drove them to the same place they had gone right after their mysterious transformation, and on the way they resumed their exchange of information, with each quizzing the other on various aspects of their personal lives. Both of them had managed to absorb an incredible amount of information in a short time, and Ted was so engrossed in the task that he forgot to be nervous. When he emerged from the car and walked beside Sally to the entrance he failed to notice that he was moving quite naturally in the wedge-soled sandals, despite their 2 ½ inch heels. Nor did he notice that he had acquired the delightful little "wiggle" in his walk that Sally once had, a characteristic that had always enchanted him. He did, however, notice Sally’s arm in the small of his back, guiding him, ready to support him if he stumbled, just as he had always done for her.

Once inside Ted waited patiently, standing with his legs together and his hands gripping his purse in front of him while Sally managed to get the attention of a waitress. There was a large breakfast crowd and Ted had trouble seeing over the people surrounding the cash register but Sally did not have that problem. With her superior height she simply gestured to a passing waitress and then took Ted’s arm and led him through the throng of people. As they followed the waitress, weaving through the tables of diners, Ted became aware that he was drawing quite a bit of attention and the sense of insecurity returned. He gripped Sally’s hand tightly finding reassurance in her strong grasp, and he stared straight ahead, trying to appear as inconspicuous as possible. Even so, he couldn’t help but overhear several comments about him, nor fail to notice that the sound level in the restaurant diminished as he and Sally emerged from the mass of people near the entrance and made their way to a table.

Ted was disappointed when the waitress led them to a table right in the middle of the room. He had been hoping for a booth somewhere in a corner, but instead found himself in the center of the bustling morning rush. He felt as if he were in a fishbowl, and with all the men looking at him he was afraid to even glance to his right or left. He kept his head lowered slightly with his hands in his lap and examined the table, unaware that the pose made him appear shy and vulnerable, and even more desirable. With his gaze lowered Ted couldn’t help but notice the very sizable, attractive bulges in the cropped top he was wearing, and he realized he could actually see "his" sexy little bra beneath the white shirt. Its outline was clearly visible, and he could even see the scalloped edges and the lace pattern on the cups. He gave a little gasp and felt the panic rising again, until Sally reached over and covered his small hand with hers.

"Relax, Hon. You’re doing just fine," she whispered quietly.

"Sal—Honey, I’m really nervous!" Ted whispered back, looking up at his girlfriend.

"There’s no need to be," she reassured him. "You look completely ‘normal.’ Nobody would ever think you weren’t exactly what you appear to be."

"That’s part of the problem," Ted replied, Explaining: "After last night I don’t think I’ll ever feel safe again—Not as long as I look like this! Anyone of those guys could be another . . . another one like the two we met last night!"

"Oh, Hon! I’m so sorry. I feel really stupid!" Sally groaned. "I thought you were nervous because—"

"I am," Ted interrupted, "but now I have two things to worry about."

Sally wanted to get up and hug Ted to reassure him that everything was OK, but it would have probably freaked him out in his present state of mind. Instead she squeezed his hand and promised him that she wouldn’t ever let that happen again.

"You also have to remember that most guys would never think of doing what those two . . . vermin did. They’re the exception, not the rule, and while it’s true that a girl has to always keep an eye out for her safety, the reality is most guys are really quite nice. Many will go out of their way to help a girl, and you just have to develop a ‘feel’ for the ones to stay clear of. It’s something every girl learns as she grows up. You just don’t have the experience yet."

"I don’t want the experience," Ted told her. "I don’t want to have to worry about whether some guy is gentleman or a rapist—And what if we never get back to normal? What do I do until I develop this ‘sixth sense’ you’re telling me about?"

"Don’t worry, I’ll be there for you. I won’t ever let anything like that happen again! It’s all my fault anyway. If I was a real man I would have been able to protect you much better, but I’m learning too!"

Ted looked at Sally and spotted the slight swelling in her head where she had been bashed by one of the monsters that attacked them, then he remembered her coming to his rescue and beating the two would-be rapists senseless before they could violate him, and he felt an overpowering affection for her. She HAD defended him, as well or better than he himself could have done if their positions were reversed, and it was suddenly important to Ted that she know how much he appreciated her. He took Sally’s hand in his and looked at her intently.

"Don’t ever say that!" He said softly. "You were wonderful! They surprised us completely and you still managed to beat the hell out of them . . . and save me. Nobody could have done better!" Ted added loyally.

Sally smiled and raised Ted’s hand and kissed them, making him blush furiously. But for some reason he couldn’t bring himself to pull his hands away. When their eyes met he was surprised at the emotion he saw and he was entranced by the softness and concern they revealed.

"I promise you, nobody will ever hurt you as long as I’m around," she vowed quietly. "You’ve been my protector ever since we met. Now it’s my turn, and I’ll watch over you as long as we’re . . . like this. Forever, if necessary."

After they finished breakfast they walked around the quaint little town and window-shopped. Ted found himself staring at the displays in some of the small specialty shops and actually wondering how he would look in a particular outfit, but each time that happened he caught himself and forced himself to think about other things. But he did enjoy the excursion even though he wouldn’t admit it to himself. He liked the way Sally held his hand when they walked, or the way she put her arm around his waist when they looked in the shop windows. He somehow felt safe and secure when she did that, and it was a very pleasant sensation. He also enjoyed just talking to her as they sat and shared a basket of shrimp at a small outdoor cafe. Later, while they made their way back to the car, they stopped and bought enough groceries to see them through the rest of the weekend.

Sally wanted to get some sun and maybe swim a little that afternoon so Ted changed back into the bikini and brought a small blanket for the to lay on in "his" beach bag. The longer he was female the more he began to appreciate a woman’s need for a purse or some sort of tote. None of Sally’s clothes had pockets, and even if they had there were just too many things a girl simply had to carry to make pockets a practical alternative to a bag. Ted had stuffed suntan lotion, lip balm, a brush, Sally’s beach towel, her beach wrap, sunglasses, a couple of cokes, and the blanket into the beach bag and it seemed to weigh a ton. When he met Sally on the deck he noticed that all she was carrying was a towel.

"Let me get that for you, hon," Sally offered, and Ted gladly allowed her to relieve him of his burden. He nodded for her to lead the way and followed her down the steps to the beach. His shapely legs may have appeared long but he was again reminded that they were nowhere near as long as Sally’s, and Ted found the going tougher than when he had been a man. He caught up to Sally and caught her arm, slipping his own arm inside of hers to slow her down. She apologized and eased the pace, but Ted kept his arm in hers, to make sure she didn’t run away again, or at least that was what he told himself. In truth, he liked the feel of her muscular arm and couldn’t get over how hard it felt compared to his own.

They found a great place to spread their blanket just a hundred yards down the beach. It was between a small mini-dune and the much larger one further from the beach. The small dune was about seven or eight feet high, just high enough to shelter them from the wind, while the larger dune behind them was a link in the chain of huge dunes that ran practically the entire length of the east shore of Lake Michigan. The small flat, sandy area between them was obviously a popular place because there was a fire pit with large pieces of driftwood ringing it to serve as seats. But this late in the season the place was deserted and Sally and Ted grasped the corners of their blanket and lowered it to the sand.

When they approached the water Ted noticed the surf was up a little, perhaps four feet high, which was pretty high for Lake Michigan, and when he dipped a toe in the water he decided that it was just a bit cold for his tastes. But Sally thought the water was fine, and she really wanted to plunge into the surf, so Ted told her to go ahead while he waded along the shore. Sally waded out into the surf, her muscular legs churning away until she was deep enough to swim, then she dove in and swam out with long, powerful strokes. Ted could see that she was having a great time and he recalled that he once loved to pit his strength against the lake, but it seemed rather pointless now. He was far too weak to keep up with Sally, and if he tried to follow her she’d just slow down to make sure he didn’t drown. He didn’t want her to have to worry about him; he wanted her to enjoy herself. Besides, he discovered he was perfectly content to wade in the foam from the waves and watch. For some reason he didn’t feel the need to prove himself or show off like he once did. He was actually having fun just watching her enjoy herself.

While he played the role of spectator Ted had a chance to consider their future. It was clear that they would now have to assume each other’s identity. Any other course of action would involve too many unwanted complications. Their lives were screwed up enough already without trying to convince others what had happened. No one would believe them anyway, and even if they did the publicity and embarrassment would be more than he could bear. If there was the slightest hope that by announcing what had happened they could be restored to their rightful bodies it might be different, but Ted knew that was impossible. Why put themselves through hell for nothing? The reality of the situation was that they were about to swap lives—completely. With that realization Ted sat down on the beach and stared out at the vast lake, tears streaming down his face.

Thankfully Sally was too far out to notice him sobbing. She was having the time of her life. Ted always kept himself in great shape, as she’d noticed many times, and she marveled at the raw power in her new body. Her legs had a strong kick and she could feel the sinews in her arms and shoulders as she pulled herself through the water. It was an intoxicating sensation, and she dove into the heart of the waves, plunging through and setting off for the next breaker. She body-surfed and swam for the better part of an hour before taking a break on a sandbar and waving to Ted, who caught her signal and waved back. Finally, when she was completely exhausted, she swam in rejoin her feminized boyfriend. Ted met her with a dry towel and semi-cold coke, and Sally accepted both gratefully.

While she toweled off Ted’s eyes were riveted on the way the late afternoon sun gleamed off Sally’s arms and shoulders, defining her muscles perfectly and making her look like epitome of masculine vitality. Ted suddenly felt very strange, and he noticed that his nipples had grown very hard and erect beneath his thin top. The sight was just so . . . compelling that he couldn’t bring himself to look away, and he found himself reaching out to touch Sally’s arm.

"I didn’t think you were ever going to come in," he told her when she looked at him.

"I’m sorry, hon, but it felt so great to be out there in the surf . . ."

"I understand. I remember." Ted replied with a trace of wistfulness in his voice.

Sally grinned at him. "Yeah, and I remember waiting here for you, too," she reminded him. "Let’s go lay out and catch some sun."

The shadows were lengthening by the time they laid down on the blanket but the sun was still warm enough to dry them and keep them comfortable. Ted waited a few minutes then brought up the subject of what to do now that it looked like they were stuck, and Sally agreed with him that the only sane thing to do was what they had planned since they’d found themselves in the wrong forms.

"As long as we’re on the subject I think we should start referring to each other as ourselves," she advised. "It might look just a bit odd to others if you call me ‘Sally,’ and you sure don’t look like ‘Ted’ either."

"Yeah, you’ve got a point," Ted agreed reluctantly. He knew it would be very hard for him to get used to answering to ‘Sally,’ and even more difficult to remember to call his masculinized girlfriend ‘Ted.’

They talked for a long time, working out more details, trying to cover every possible contingency even though they knew that was impossible. But they did settle some of the big issues. Ted would have no problem in school, of course. He’d already graduated once and Sally wasn’t taking any courses he hadn’t already had or couldn’t handle easily. Sally would have to suffer through one semester of engineering courses, but she would be able to call Ted every night for help and she could change majors when the semester was finished.

By the time they finished the sun was just below the horizon and the sky was turning from fiery red to shades of maroon and purple, and Ted shivered when a cool breeze found its way behind the small dune.

"Maybe we should go back, it’s getting chilly," Sally observed.

"No, it’s okay. I’ll put on your, ah—my beach wrap," Ted told her, turning to rummage through his beach bag.

"Hey, how about a fire? There’s plenty of driftwood around here I can use," Sally suggested.

"Sure, but how are you going to light it?"

"Check the side pocket of my beach bag. I put some matches in there the last time we went to Dobson’s cottage, so I could start the charcoal," Sally told him.

"I don’t see any—Wait. Yeah, there are some," Ted smiled as he held out the matches.

Sally took the matches and scrounged a pile of firewood while Ted put on his wrap and sandals. By the time Sally had the fire going it was completely dark, and the air had really cooled off. Fortunately the wind had gone with the sun and only an occasional faint breeze made it back to their sanctuary. Still, Ted brought the blanket over by the fire and covered his legs with a dry towel when he sat on a large log next to the fire pit.

The crackle of the fire and the sound of the surf were strangely hypnotic, and they sat together huddled under the blanket for warmth, facing the huge lake. The night was crystal clear and the heavens appeared in their glory, away from the lights of any city, and Ted and Sally sat in awe of the spectacle. The stars appeared like diamond dust scattered on black velvet, and an occasional meteorite streaked through the sky for the briefest of moments. When Sally put her arm around Ted he moved closer to her, enjoying the warmth of her body and the security of being held. There was something else too, and he felt his body begin to react as it had earlier, only this time the sensation was even stronger.

Sally was feeling something similar, though it was nothing new to her by that time. It was the same attraction she had felt ever since they went to the movies, only it was getting harder and harder to control. She pulled Ted even closer to her, and when he did not resist she was unable to stop there. She wrapped both arms around him and hugged him tightly, then turned his face towards her and held it in place while she lowered her lips onto his.

Ted felt his body responding to Sally’s touch automatically. It wasn’t a conscious decision because he wasn’t thinking at all. He felt his whole body soften and mold itself to Sally’s masculine form, pressing against her in an instinctively feminine reaction to her embrace. Then, when he felt her lips against his own Ted felt an incredible warmth that came not from the fire, but from within himself—herself. A new and wonderful longing surfaced and SHE turned towards him and slipped her arms around his strong neck and returned his kiss with an enthusiasm that surprised both of them. Sally’s kiss felt so wonderful that Ted would not have stopped even if she had the power. She savored the taste of his lips, his masculine scent, and the hardness of his body against her own yielding form. She luxuriated in the strength of his massive arms, and when HE lifted her onto his lap Ted sighed softly and clung to him. A dizzying array of feminine emotions surged through the new woman and her heart soared. She had never felt anything like she felt now, and she wanted it to go on forever! She couldn’t imagine anything being as wonderful as this, and all her regrets, her objections to being female, seemed to fade to nothingness as she let Sally have his way. She knew she would give HIM anything he wanted now. All she wanted was to be with him, be a part of him, and to make him happy. Nothing else mattered.

After what seemed like both an eternity and the blink of an eye Sally broke the kiss and raised his chin so that when Ted tried to follow him with her lips he remained just out of her reach. Sally stood, lifting Ted in his strong arms, and gently lowered her to the log.

"It’s time to get back to the cottage," he told her in a quiet voice, and Ted just nodded and followed Sally with her eyes as he gathered up their gear. Though she was practically overcome with strange, new emotions Ted instinctively knew that something within him—her—had . . . shifted. Just as when her physical form had shifted, leaving her unconscious on the sand, a different kind of shift had just occurred, one that was even more profound.

They walked back in silence, Sally’s arm encircling Ted’s waist possessively and Ted leaning against him for support and guidance. The new woman felt wondrous, sublime emotions controlling her actions and thoughts. She was beginning to understand why women were so emotional. Hers were unbelievably intense and strong enough to overrule her reason. When they reached the base of the steps Sally turned Ted to face him and enveloped her in his arms again. He lifted his new girlfriend’s face and kissed her again while his arms ran down her sides and came to rest on her hips. His hands practically encircled her waist, while Ted’s hands reached upwards and found his muscular shoulders. The new girl stood on tip-toes to make herself just a little taller, and she felt a curious hardness pressing into her groin. When she realized what it was Ted was gripped by a sudden sense of weakness and vulnerability, but this time she welcomed the sensation and her spirits seemed to soar to the stratosphere.

Sally’s hands released Ted’s waist and found her soft, feminine bottom. Ted let out a faint moan when she felt his hands caressing her through her skimpy bikini bottom, and she pressed against Sally with renewed desire. Then, without warning, Sally scooped Ted up in his arms and began carrying her up the steps to the cottage. Ted felt so small, so helpless, and so wonderful she was barely aware of where she was. Her arms gripped Sally’s neck tightly and she savored the feeling of Sally’s strong arms encircling her torso and supporting her legs. She sighed happily and laid her head on Sally’s shoulder, perfectly content to remain in his arms forever.

When Sally reached the door to the cottage he set Ted on her feet gently and opened the door. He took her hand and led her directly to the bedroom of the darkened house. There, in the soft moonlight, he released her hand and slowly stepped back from her, gazing at her incredible beauty with a sense of wonder. The faint, diffuse light surrounded Ted like an aura, silhouetting her striking figure, and Sally suddenly knew the answer to a question he had been asking himself all evening. He motioned for her to be still, then quickly stepped to the dresser and retrieved a small item. Without hesitation he returned to Ted and looked down into her face intently. What he saw only confirmed his decision.

He opened the small box in his hand, removed the ring and held it up nervously, offering it to her.

"Honey, I know this isn’t exactly how you planned it, but I loved you before and I love you now—even more. I can face anything Sheena did to me—to us—but I can’t face life without you. Will you marry me?"

The new girl was completely stunned. Ted stared at the ring and saw the diamond sparkle as it reflected the moonlight coming over her shoulder, and it was as if she was seeing it for the first time. She had bought it for Sally but now it was being offered to HER, and it seemed different, changed somehow.

Perhaps it only looked different because of the light, or because it looked so delicate in her lover’s large hand. Then again, perhaps it appeared to be changed because SHE was changed, as was the role she would be expected to play in their new relationship. The implications were staggering! Instead of Ted Evans, Sally was asking her to be Mrs. Ted Evans, his WIFE! He wanted her as his mate, his lover, and the mother of his children! A million thoughts flooded Ted’s brain and it was impossible to sort them out. She was completely lost and utterly confused, until she let go and let her new emotions guide her. Suddenly everything became clear, and she KNEW what was right. She realized that she WANTED to be Mrs. Ted Evans more than anything in the world, and she nodded her acceptance with tears streaming down her face.

Her fiancee smiled down at her and his smile thrilled the new girl as her man slipped the ring on her finger and carried her to the bed.

The end . . .
