"Paula, it’s almost time!" Mrs. Justice called down from the beach house. "Best get your gear together and come on in. The doctor will be here any minute."
"Rightly O!" Paul called said as he glanced up at the house. Get up and flexing his painted toes, Paul stood in a blue and white checkered bikini and head gathered his beach blanket with the image of a muscular man printed on it and his umbrella. He entered the elevator in the side of the rock cliff and headed up to the house.
"I’ll miss you, mom." Paul said as the doors electric eye beam slid the door open as he entered the house. As he stood on the mat at the back door, an energy field automatically removed all sand and water from his body. The doctor was right. Paul soon felt the room spinning as he blacked out. When he came to, he felt a sandy beach beneath his body. "Was it a dream?" Paul thought as he looked over at a different doctor that caused a smile to spread across his face. "Thank Heavens, it wasn’t a dream."

"Great." Lois said back to her new sister as she stood in a yellow strapless evening gown that flowed down to her feet and wrapped in attached seaweed. "If I was human I could wear the pantyhose made out of seaweed that goes with it, but I’m happy with the dress."
"This one is even better though!" Paul exclaimed back in a fishnet dress with sea bubble trim. "The bubbles make Paula’s hair look so silky too."
"Still not as good as this stunning starfish sensation." Lois said in a flowing long sleeve gown encrusted with starfish from head to tail."
The two girls flopped on their backs with their tails kicking in the water and laughing. Paul and Lois then gave each other a sisterly hug. "Let me show you around your new world."
"Alright." Paul said as they took off over a sea farm and head out in the direction where one of the lab outposts were. On the way, the mermaids explored a sunken pirate ship. "Hey, look at me." Paul said putting on a pirate hat and swishing the sword about.
The sword slipped from Paul’s hand when an eye ball appeared through a hole in the side of the ship. "What... What’s that?"
"The sea monster!" Lois screamed as Paul couldn’t believe how fast he could move with his new tail. Not watching where they were going, they swam right into a the net of a fisherman. "I’m stuck!"
"Relax." Lois said as she calmed Paul down. Because of the mer folk, nets were specially made with a opening at the top for them to escape from while the fish who swam at lower level of the net remained trap. Something that was started in the 20th century to keep Dolphins and other endangered sea life from getting harmed.
With the monster nowhere in sight, they spotted a couple of farmers with the giant sea horses. "Hey Mr. Pickles." Lois called out. "Can Paula and I borrow your sea horses for a race?"
"Sorry girls," Mr. Pickles said. "Maybe tomorrow, but I need them to help me today."
"There’s lot more fun we can have." Lois said to Paul with a smile. "A lifetime as sisters to do them."
Both Paul and Paula learned to love their new lives as did their parents learn to love their new kids. Paula grew up to be a scientist like her former mer father was. Paul on the other hand married a handsome merman and loved being a housewife that lived happily ever after.
