Pamela's Wedding                    by: Janis Elizabeth

Chapter 1

It had been two weeks since Karen and her friends had surprised me with my bridal shower. I still looked back on the evening with pleasure. Joanne and her husband Roberta had hosted a wonderful evening. The guests had given me some very nice clothes, including some special treats from my future mother-in-law, Ann, and my fiancée, Karen. If you recall, Ann had given me several maternity outfits, including lingerie. Karen had given me several French maids' uniforms in a variety of colors. I enjoyed everything about the shower.

The intervening time since the bridal shower had been very busy. The wedding invitations, announcing that "Mrs. Ann Newman requests the pleasure of you company at the upcoming marriage of her new daughter Pamela Ellen Martin to her daughter Karen Newman" had been sent out. Karen and I had applied for our marriage license, made arrangements with Roberta to video tape the entire ceremony and the reception, ironed out last minute details with Megan our photographer who was Kimberly's husband and rented the limousine for both before and after the ceremony.

Additionally, I had my final fitting for my wedding gown. I was on Cloud 9 at the bridal salon as I tried on my gown to make sure that it fit. The bridal consultant, Tina, helped me into the crinoline and my gown. She assured that it fit correctly in all of the important areas such as across my breasts and at the waist. She also made sure that the length was correct for the 4-inch heels I was and would be wearing. I stood on the platform and looked at myself in the mirrors. The reflection showed me a beautiful bride, who only needed her veil in place and her gloves on her arms to be ready to walk down the aisle. Tina told me that I would be radiant on my wedding day and that I would make a beautiful bride. I simply glowed at her comments.

Reluctantly, I had to remove the gown and the crinoline, so that I could take it home with me. As I was getting dressed in my full navy skirt that fell to my knee and my light blue satin blouse, Tina and several of her assistants carefully hung the gown up and placed a plastic garment bag over it. My crinoline went into another garment bag and my bridal veil went into a third one. I thanked Tina for all of her assistance, picked up my garment bags and went out to meet Karen, who had thoughtfully waited in the car while I had my final fitting. We carefully placed my gown in the car and headed for home.

Chapter 2

My next activity in my pre-wedding preparations was occurring the next day. I was going to the beauty salon to have Alison lighten my hair, try several hair styles to see which would go best with my veil and to do my makeup as she hoped to do it for my wedding next week. Today, I wore a printed shirtwaist dress and 2-inch heels, along with the usual assortment of lingerie. Karen again drove me to the salon and left me off in front. I went in carrying my veil in its protective bag.

Alison was waiting for me as I entered the salon. "Well Pamela, are you getting excited yet?" she asked me. I looked at her and nodded. She took me to the changing room where I took off my dress and shoes and put on the salon smock and slippers. I went out and met Alison at styling station.

She sat me down and placed a pink shampoo cape over my smock. She then told me that she would try different styles using pins and hair spray to achieve the look, so that we could see which style was best for me with my veil. For the next hour, Alison styled my hair in different ways, from leaving it on my shoulders to piling it up on top of my head in curls. With each style, we tried the veil to see how it looked. We finally agreed that my hair would look the best with it on top of my head in lots of curls.

Alison made a note to herself to make sure she brought everything with her so she could achieve that style. Next, she asked me what time the wedding would be. I told her that it would be at four in the afternoon. She told me that she would be there well before noon to do my hair and makeup. Additionally, she would have two additional stylists to assist my Matron of Honor, my bridesmaids and my flower girl.

She then proceeded to lean me back in the chair until my neck rested in the shampoo bowl. After a totally relaxing shampoo and conditioning, Alison applied the color to my hair. She explained that it would take a few minutes it to take. Alison checked my color and found that it had taken well. She rinsed my hair, trimmed it up a little and then set in on rollers. With my hair up, she tied a pink hairnet over the rollers and then put me under the dryer. When I was dry, she combed out my set and applied hairspray. After she finished, I changed back into my outfit and paid Alison for all her work. Alison reminded me that she would be there around eleven. I thanked her and went out to meet Karen.

Chapter 3

Karen and I had decided that the wedding rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner would be on Wednesday instead of Friday. The wedding was to be at a small private club where Karen's mother, Ann, was a member. In addition to the wedding and reception, she had reserved the club for the rehearsal and dinner also.

We had set each other's hair the night before and done our toenails and fingernails in matching red polish. Karen and I sat around the living room in our matching red satin nightgowns watching some television. We also had matching satin hair bonnets. That night, we simply snuggled in each other's arms dreaming of our wedding in a few days.

We slept late the next morning. When we got up, Karen and I had a light breakfast/lunch before getting ready for the rehearsal that evening. While Karen cleaned up from our meal, I took my bath. I took off my nightgown and my sleep bonnet, put on my shower cap and took a nice long soak in my hot bubble bath. I made sure that I carefully shaved my legs and under my arms for any stray hair that might have grown. I stepped out of the tub, dried myself with a big, pink, fluffy towel and dusted myself all over with scented bath powder. I put on beige panties and a soft robe.

While Karen was taking her bath, I picked out my outfit for the evening. I selected a matching beige bra, panties and garter belt set, beige nylons, a long beige slip, a long-sleeved beige satin blouse and a long tan skirt. My 2-inch beige heels would complete my outfit. Karen had selected a black dress, fitted to the waist with a flaring skirt that always made her body look great.

When Karen came into the room, she covered me with a shampoo cape and proceeded to work on my hair and makeup. As usual, she did a great job of making me look nice. I then helped her with her hair. After Karen did her makeup, we proceeded to get ready for the evening rehearsal. To complete my outfit, I wore gold earrings, a gold watch and bracelet and a gold necklace. Karen told me how nice I looked. It always thrilled me to hear her say that. It goes without saying here that Karen always looked nice when she went out and today was no exception.

We arrived at club just prior to 6:00 p.m. for the rehearsal. Everyone was there waiting. Pastor Nicole, a childhood friend of Karen's would be performing the ceremony. I had met her during the pre-wedding sessions we attended with her. She had no concerns about my attire; her only concerns were that Karen was getting a good person for a mate and that the two of us would try to always hold to our vows throughout thick and thin.

The club's wedding coordinator, Rachel, showed us the room where Karen and her "best man" would wait until the wedding began. She showed me a larger room where my attendants and I would wait and do any last minute repairs to our makeup. Rachel explained to all of us how the room would be set up for the wedding. Pastor would be standing in the front center of the room behind a railing that could be used for kneeling, Karen would enter from her right and I would come down the center aisle on the white satin runner. The organist would play something appropriate while my attendants entered. After they were in and standing along the front, the organist would play the Wedding March. That would be my cue to enter on Ann's arm. Once we got to the front, my attendants would face forward.

We practiced these directions a few times to make sure that we knew what we were doing. Tammy, my flower girl, would lead us in. Her mother had taught her to walk slowly, take a step and bring the feet together, take a step, etc. Each bridesmaid would allow the person preceding her to almost reach the front of the room before she would enter. I was probably more nervous than Tammy was. I wanted to rush right up to the front. Ann reminded me again and again to take my time. She told me that if I started to go too fast she would try to hold my arm to slow me down. "Remember, you are the bride. You are the center of attention. Enjoy the spotlight." she told me.

Pastor Nicole gave us directions on what would follow. She would ask, "Who gives this woman to be married?" Ann would respond "It is my pleasure to give this woman to be married." Ann would then place my right hand in Karen's and would then sit down. Pastor Nicole would then have us repeat our vows including the exchange of rings. We would kneel for a prayer. After we stood from the prayer, I would turn to Joanne and have her raise my veil. Pastor would then declare us married and Karen and I would kiss, the first act of our married life.

Rachel then explained that we would exit and form the receiving line outside of this room. After the receiving line, while the guest would be headed to the other room for the reception, the bridal party would return for the posed pictures.

When we had all of this straight, Rachel then escorted us to the other room for the rehearsal dinner. Prior to the dinner, Karen's mom, Ann, acted as the hostess and the Mistress of Ceremonies. Ann, as always, exhibited a natural style and grace. Tonight, she wore a classic skirted suit in navy with a white satin blouse. First, she proposed a toast, wishing Karen and I much happiness in our life together. Then she called on Karen's "Best Man" for a few remarks. This was actually Sarah, another of Karen's childhood friends. Sarah made a few humorous remarks about weddings and marriage. She then turned to Karen and I and said, "Karen, I had always hoped that you would find someone that was sweet and kind just like you. I think you found that and a whole lot more. Pamela, you are marrying one of the nicest people I have ever known. I just hope everything in your marriage goes well. To you both, I hope all of your troubles are LITTLE ones. Good luck." I groaned some at her good-natured pun.

Following Pastor Nicole's blessing, we enjoyed the dinner. Conversation centered around the preparation for the wedding and the actual ceremony on Saturday. My bridesmaid Kimberly asked what I had to fulfill the "Something Old, Something New, etc." wedding chestnut. I told her that the "Something New" would be my wedding gown and the "Something Blue" would be my bridal garter. I was still working on the "Something Old" and Something Borrowed" part of it. My Matron of Honor, Joanne, suggested that I use her white lace handkerchief that she had used in her wedding. I agreed and said that all I needed now was "Something Old."

Ann then spoke and said that her grandmother had worn a single strand pearl necklace when she was married. It had been handed down to her mother for her wedding and then to Ann when she married. "It has been handed down to two generations of daughters in our family for their weddings. I would like for you to be the third generation of our daughters to wear this necklace in your wedding." For a few seconds, I was speechless. I looked at Karen to see if she agreed. She smiled as she looked at me and nodded. I turned to Ann and hugged her, thanking her for her generosity for allowing me to be a part of the family tradition.

The rest of the evening was uneventful. However, the time did pass quickly. Before they left, Joanne and my attendants told me that they would be at my place at seven Saturday morning, to help me get ready for the wedding. Kimberly told me that Megan would be there to start taking pictures from the time I got out of bed until after the ceremony and the reception. Joanne told me that Roberta would start videotaping at that time too. I told them I would see them all then. We all hugged and bid each other a good night.

Ann looked at me and said that she would be there at seven also. "I want to make sure that my new daughter is properly ready for her wedding day." She also asked if I would meet her for tea on Thursday afternoon. She said that we just needed to have a good old-fashioned mother-daughter talk before the wedding. I agreed and we set the time and the place that we would meet. I reached out and hugged her warmly for several seconds. I spoke my thanks to her for all of her kindness. She said that it was worth it and that I should worry about being the best possible wife for Karen, the best possible daughter for her and the best possible and most feminine woman for myself. With that, we said good night. Saturday was going to be a very busy day.

Chapter 4

Ann and I met for tea on Thursday as we discussed. I decided that I was going to wear peach colored bra, panties, garter belt and slip, nude colored stockings, a gray satin long-sleeve blouse a gray skirted suit and 2-inch black patent pumps. Ann arrived wearing a black skirted suit, a white blouse and black patent heels. She also wore a pair of white dress gloves. Ann looked elegant as always.

Ann requested a corner table and the hostess seated us immediately. After ordering our tea and some light pastry, Ann looked at me very seriously. I had a feeling this was not going to be a routine mother-daughter talk. "Has Karen told you anything about her father," she asked? "No, she has never mentioned her father to me. Is that important?" Ann took my hands in hers and told me about her husband, Karen's father.

"We met during college. John was a quiet type, different from the usual college male. I guess that was what drew me to him. We were both business majors and had shared many classes together. We had often talked about our respective studies. Finally, after one class during our junior year, John asked if I would go out to a movie with him on Saturday night. Naturally, I said yes. That Saturday, he was the perfect gentleman, helping me with my coat and helping me into the car. When, he dropped me off at the end of the evening; he didn't even try to kiss me good night. He did ask if we could go to church together the next morning. Again, I agreed. From then on, we were regularly together, each of us dating only the other. It took until our third date before he even kissed me."

"All along, I sensed that there was something different about him. However, when I asked him if there was anything on his mind, he simply said no. During our summer vacation, we traveled to each other's home and met the respective parents and families. To me, this was merely a prelude before he formally proposed marriage, which was something that I hoped he would do. However, no proposal of marriage was forthcoming that summer."

"When we returned to the campus in the fall, he seemed even more quiet or troubled than he had been previously. Finally, after the homecoming game and dance, he and I were walking across campus. We found a spot along the quad where there were benches for us to sit down. He looked at me and told me that he had deceived me terribly during our relationship. While he loved me with his whole heart, he had something in his background that he feared would drive us apart. What dark secret, I wondered, could this kind and gentle individual have that could possibly drive us apart? I gently urged him to confide in me, that I loved him with all my heart also, and that, short of being a mass murderer, nothing was going to drive me from his side."

"At that point, he told me that he enjoyed wearing women's clothing, from the lingerie to the dresses, skirts and blouses. He told me that he was currently wearing a pair of white satin panties under his suit. At that time, wearing women's clothing or expressing those desires was not something that is as open as it is today. My initial reaction, of course, was one of surprise. However, after getting over the initial shock of his statement, I gently touched John's hand and told him that it did not bother me. I thought it was nice that he could be in touch with his feminine side, as well as his masculine one. If fact, if he wanted, I would love to help him properly dress as a woman at any time. He said that we could go to his apartment right now and he would dress for me. I said that was fine."

"After we got to his place, he excused himself and went to change, while I sat on the sofa and looked at a woman's magazine that he had there. It took him longer than I thought. However, when he appeared, he looked very nice. His makeup was a little uneven but was tasteful; his dress was a light green shirtwaist; his heels were 2-inch patents and he appeared to be wearing all of the appropriate under garments. I told him how nice he looked and then went over and kissed him. Again, I repeated my comment about wanting to help him dress. I asked him what his name was. He told me that, when dressed, he referred to himself as Janet. He then had me sit down on the sofa, knelt down on one stockinged knee and asked if I would consider marrying him. I told him that I would be happy to marry John and have Janet be a regular part of our lives. He got up and hugged me."

"I then asked to see his feminine wardrobe. He had accumulated a nice assortment of outerwear and lingerie. Since we appeared to be the same size, I asked if he wanted to try on my cocktail dress and all of my under things. He agreed. I took off my dress, slip crinoline, shoes, stocking and garter belt. I put on one of his other dresses while he changed. I then helped him into my under things and my dress. I then touched up his makeup. We spent the rest of the night just sitting on the sofa, talking and being held in one another's arms."

That Christmas, John gave me my engagement ring. We swapped our routine gifts with each other. However, when we were alone, I gave him a special Christmas gift, a beautiful white satin negligee. I told him that he could save it and wear it on our honeymoon."

"We graduated that spring and had a June wedding immediately after graduation. I wore a traditional wedding gown with short sleeves, long gloves and a big crinoline. Under his tuxedo, John wore a set of white bridal lingerie that I had chosen for him, including white satin panties, garter belt and white bridal stockings. He also wore a bride's garter on his leg. We did not change after the reception but went straight to bridal suite of our hotel. After carrying me across the threshold and closing the door, he started to undress. I asked him if Janet would like to wear my wedding gown. He almost fainted as he said yes. As he removed his tuxedo, I removed my gown, veil, gloves crinoline and long bridal slip. I then changed into a long white satin negligee; similar to the one I had given Janet at Christmas. I then helped Janet into my gown and accessories. We consummated our marriage while John was in my wedding gown. Later, we wore matching negligees."

"After we returned home, we settled into our routine. In the evenings, I would help Janet to appear. She had a very nice selection of clothes, including sleepwear. All of her lingerie was satin. After any lovemaking, we would sleep in each other's arms while wearing matching nightgowns. Janet would stay with me until morning, when John and I had to get up and go to work. When I had my monthly period, Janet would also wear a pad between her legs. When I finally became pregnant with Karen, we wore matching maternity outfits including bras, panties and slips in the evenings. After Karen was born, John continued to dress as Janet in the evenings and on weekends. This was something that Karen readily accepted. We made sure however, that our little family secret stayed within our family. Karen grew to love her daddy, John and her second mommy Janet."

"One evening, when Karen was ten, John had to work late. Unfortunately, while on his way home, he was killed in an auto accident when a man driving an 18-wheeler feel asleep behind the wheel and let the vehicle get out of control. It crashed into John's compact car, killing him instantly. When we buried him, I made sure that the funeral director put his wedding lingerie on under his dress suit. It took quite a while for Karen and I to get over the accident. However, the insurance settlement, the investments that John had made and my parents' estate left us quite well off. Throughout her teen years, Karen and I would fondly remember all of the good times with John and Janet."

"When Karen told me that she had found someone just like Daddy, that she wanted to spend her life with, I was pleased. The more she talked about you, the more convinced I was that she had found the ideal person. At your bridal shower, I saw close up how nice you are and how much Karen loves you and you love her. I am glad that I am getting as nice a daughter-in-law as you."

By the time she finished, we were both on the verge of crying. Ann looked at me and said, "No tears allowed. It will ruin your mascara." This got a laugh from me. We finished our tea and started to get up to leave. Ann reached over and touched my hand. I stepped forward and gave her a big hug. "Mom, I'm glad that you are going to help me get ready for my wedding on Saturday and then walk me down the aisle. Thank you." Ann just smiled and said, "I'll see you bright and early Saturday. Make sure that you get enough beauty sleep Friday night. And thank you for calling me Mom." After another big hug we left the tearoom.

Chapter 5

Friday was a day filled with last minute activities and details. Joanne, Michelle and I spent the day attending to these last minute things. I was wearing a simple blue shirtwaist dress with stockings and low heels. I hadn't put on much makeup. During our travels, Joanne told me how excited her son Tammy (Tim) was about being my flower girl tomorrow and wearing such a pretty dress. We finally finished everything and stopped for a late lunch/early dinner. After the rehearsal, Karen and I agreed that we would not see each other until the wedding. We both felt that it might bring bad luck.

After dinner, the girls dropped me off at my place. I gave Joanne a key so that they could get in tomorrow morning. Tonight would be my last night as a single girl. It would probably be my last night sleeping at my place. I would be moving into Karen's more spacious house after the honeymoon. She had ample closet space for our combined wardrobes. I went in, changed into a pink satin nightgown, and a pink sleep bonnet. After doing my toenails and waiting for them to dry, I climbed into bed between the satin sheets and went into a pleasant sleep dreaming about the joys of tomorrow.

Before I knew it, Ann was shaking me to wake me up. Megan had already taken a few pictures of me lying in bed in my nightgown and sleep bonnet, both with and without my covers. Roberta was just starting with the videotape. "Come on, sleepyhead, it's time to get up" Ann said. "The girls will be arriving soon and there is a lot to do." After having pleasant dreams about my wedding, being awakened was not what I wanted. I stretched and sat up in bed. Joanne, Kimberly and Tammy were already bustling about. Ann handed me my matching satin robe. She told me to put on my robe and leave my satin bonnet on and come to the kitchen for breakfast. I had no sooner gotten to the kitchen, than Wendy and Michelle arrived. We all had juice, coffee and muffins. Wendy kept telling me not to eat too much or I would never get into my gown.

After we finished, Ann told me that I had to get my bath done. "Let us worry about things for a few minutes while you relax and bathe." Ann came with me and drew a nice hot bubble bath for me. As I took off my robe, nightgown, panties and sleep bonnet, Ann handed me my shower cap and helped me into the tub. I relaxed in the hot bath for about twenty minutes before I got out and dried myself off. I put on my panties and my robe and went out.

Alison and her two assistants were already there putting my attendants' hair up in rollers and doing their makeup. Tammy was having the last rollers put into her hair by Alison. Wendy, Michelle and Kimberly all had plastic hair dryer bonnets on their heads. Joanne sat next to Tammy and was having rollers put in her hair. Alison told me that she would be able to start on my hair and makeup in a little bit. Ann was supervising everything like a mother hen with her chicks. As I left this scene, I saw Tammy and Joanne have hair dryer bonnets placed on their heads and Wendy and Michelle start to be combed out.

I went back to my room and started to dress in my wedding lingerie, including the necessary sanitary pad. No sense in risking an accident in my gown by being unprotected. Ann came in while I was fastening my wedding stocking to my garters. She had already had her hair and makeup done but hadn't put on her dress as yet. She was wearing one of my robes. "I just wanted to see if you were holding up alright amidst all of this confusion," she asked. "I'm doing fine. However, my nerves are starting to get the better of me." Ann told me that all brides are nervous on their wedding day and she was glad to see that I was no exception. She commented on how pretty my lingerie was. I finished attaching my stockings, put my robe on and went out to have Alison make me beautiful.

After putting a shampoo cape on me, she wet my hair and then rolled it. Alison placed the plastic dryer bonnet on my head and then did my fingernails in the same color as I had used on my toes the night before. Once I was dry, she started on my makeup. As she worked, I could see all of my attendants being finished up and starting to put on their bridesmaids' gowns. They all looked very nice.

Tammy looked particularly cute with his hair in curls and the stylist applying light makeup to his face. She hesitated for a second before applying lipstick to Tammy's lips to make sure that his mother, Joanne, approved. A slight nod of Joanne's head allowed the stylist to apply several coats of a pink glossy lipstick to Tammy. After he blotted his lips he seemed to be beaming. She then went to have her mother help her with her flower girl dress and headpiece. Joanne and I had decided that Tammy should wear short white gloves so that the entire bridal party would be gloved.

Alison put the final touches on my makeup. She then told me to put on my gown and she would finish my hair and attach my veil. Ann was ready to assist in my final preparations, as was Joanne. My future mother, as I had come to think of her, was dressed in a long A-line beige satin gown with matching 2-inch heels. She had a necklace and earrings in gold. She was the picture of elegance. We retired to my room and I removed my robe. I put on my heels and my long slip. I then stepped into my bridal crinoline. Ann and Joanne positioned the crinoline at my waist and adjusted it so that it fit. Ann then took my gown out of its protective bag and she and Joanne helped me into it. With most of the gown settled around my hips, I put my arms into the sleeves and pulled it up onto my upper body. Ann started to fasten all of the buttons up the back. Once she was done, I then picked up my veil and went to have Alison finish my hair. What a picture I presented in my white wedding gown with my hair in rollers.

Alison did my hair as we had previously discussed. Megan and Roberta were getting everything down on film and videotape. Alison attached my veil to my head and did some final touch up on my hair. I looked across into the living room mirror at myself. I looked radiant and I felt radiant. As I stood, Ann came over and hugged me, telling me how great I looked on this most important day for a girl. She then helped me with my gloves. She ran through the "Something Old, Something New checklist, making sure that my blue bridal garter was on my leg and that Joanne's lace handkerchief was safely tucked away. She then fastened her grandmother's pearl necklace around my neck.

Megan announced that it was time for the formal bridal pictures. First, the bride's picture was taken. I was posed facing left and then facing right, each time holding my bridal bouquet. Pictures were taken in both positions with my veil up and with my veil covering my face. Megan took regular and close up shots of me. She commented that one of these would appear in the newspaper announcing that I was a bride. Next, the pictures of me with all of my bridal attendants were taken. Joanne and I posed together and then we included Tammy. While Tammy and I posed, she again thanked me for including her in my wedding and told me that I was beautiful as a bride. I told her that someday she would have the same experience. The last pictures inside were of Ann and I, the typical mother-daughter shots. She told me to save the tears of joy. Any tears now would really ruin my makeup. We hugged and then posed for the pictures.

The limousines had arrived and our drivers, Renee and Andrea, were there to take us to the wedding. Joanne and my bridesmaids got into the first limousine driven by Renee; Ann, Tammy and I got into the other. You don't realize how difficult it is to get into a limousine until you are wearing a bridal gown with a full skirt and petticoat. Finally, I was in and got settled. Ann sensed my nervousness and tried to reassure me. She looked over and realized that Tammy, also, was experiencing nervousness and tried to reassure her. I also tried to reassure Tammy. I think that in trying to calm Tammy, I calmed myself also.

We got to the country club early. Ann and Tammy exited the limousine. They then assisted me as I got out. My Matron of Honor and bridesmaids were waiting for our arrival. Again, pictures were taken as we assembled and then went into our waiting room at the club. Alison had preceded us here and was waiting to do any last minute repairs. Tammy needed her lipstick freshened and a little more blush added to her cheeks. Michelle and Wendy also needed some minor touch ups. We sat there in the quietness of the room until our wedding coordinator; Rachel came in to see if we were ready. Ann helped her make sure everything was straight with my gown and then lowered my veil over my face.

Tammy entered first, dropping rose petals on the satin runner as she walked. She did a beautiful job. Tammy waited patiently for the rest of us to come to the front. Karen and her "best man" were waiting there also. Both wore black satin a-line sleeveless gowns. Wendy, Michelle and Kimberly then proceeded into the room. Joanne, my Matron of Honor, came next. Tammy was beaming as her mother came in.

The organist paused a moment in her playing. Ann looked at me and said, "Ready?" I nodded my head, too choked up with emotion to speak. She then offered me her arm and we proceeded in to the familiar strains of "Here Comes the Bride." From this point on, it is all a blur. I remember thinking that the organist was playing this for me. I was the bride!! I saw Karen and she was beaming with pride and with love. I heard Pastor Nicole start by saying, "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here in the presence of God to witness the joining of Karen and Pamela in holy matrimony." I also heard her ask, "Who gives this woman Pamela to be married?" and Ann responding "I give my new daughter Pamela in marriage to Karen." Pastor Nicole recited some more of the ceremony. I said, "I do."

I turned to Joanne for help in removing my glove so that Karen could properly place my wedding ring on my hand. Joanne then helped me put my glove back on after the ring was in place on my left hand. We then knelt for communion and a prayer. I was very careful to make sure that I lifted my veil enough to take the contents of the cup without spilling any on my gown. We then stood after the prayer. I turned to Joanne and she lifted my veil. I turned back to face the front. Pastor Nicole then said, "I now declare Pamela and Karen married. What has been joined together in God's sight, let no person put asunder. Karen, you may now kiss your bride." Karen turned to me and lightly kissed me while the guests applauded. I retrieved my bouquet from Joanne and Karen and I recessed followed by the "best man," Matron of Honor, bridesmaids and flower girl. We then formed the receiving line to greet the guests. As we walked past Ann, I could tell that she was beaming with happiness. In the receiving line, there were many hugs, congratulations and best wishes for both Karen and I.

While the guests moved on to the reception room, Karen and I returned with the rest of the bridal party for pictures. Once we were finished, we went to the reception room, as Rachel had directed us previously. We entered as Rachel introduced us. She first Ann, as the mother of the bride and of the "groom." She then introduced the lovely flower girl Tammy, who was beaming as she entered the room to a nice round of applause. Next each of the bridesmaids, the "best man" and the Matron of Honor were introduced. At last, Rachel said to the guests, "And now for the first time anywhere, I present the Bride and "Groom" Let's greet Pamela and Karen, Ms and Mrs. Karen Newman." We entered the room to a nice greeting.

Once we were seated at the head table, Rachel gave the signal to the serving staff to begin with the meal. During the meal, a trio provided music for the guests. Every so often, one of the guests would begin tapping on a glass with a spoon. Soon, others would pick up the signal and echo the sound. It would continue until Karen and I would kiss. Then quiet would return for a few minutes. When everything was cleared away, Rachel announced that "The Bride and Groom will now have their first dance." Karen and I proceeded to the center of the floor where we danced to "We've Only Just Begun." I didn't realize how much your legs can ache when you are dancing backward in 4-inch heels. Next, Karen danced with her mother and then I danced with Ann also. During the rest of the evening, I danced with many of the guests, each of whom, before I could dance with them, gave Ann a small white envelope for us, usually containing at least $20.

Toward the end of the evening, Rachel had me stand with my back to the audience and had all of the single girls stand some distance behind me. I tossed my bridal bouquet over my shoulder to those assembled and Michelle was the lucky one that caught it. I was then seated on a chair in the center of the floor. Karen knelt in front of me and slowly lifted my gown, revealing more and more of my stocking-covered legs. At last, she had my gown up far enough that you could see my bridal garter. You could almost see my bridal panties too. Karen removed my garter and, instead of tossing it to the eligible bachelors (?), she handed it to Tammy as a remembrance of the day and of the event. The last event before our departure was the "dreaded" sharing of the wedding cake. Sometimes this can get messy. However, both Karen and I gently fed each other wedding cake, in spite of the good-natured cries for each of us to smear it over the other's face.

We then proceeded to take our leave of our guests, going around and thanking each of them for sharing this moment in our lives. I hugged my Matron of Honor and my bridesmaids. I had an extra big hug for Tammy, who was now wearing my bridal garter on her arm. Last but not least, Karen and I each had big hugs for Ann. I thanked her for all of her kindness and understanding. She hushed me, telling me that now I should be the best possible wife to Karen and the feminine woman for myself.

Rachel stopped us for a few seconds, so that the guests could assemble outside. As we exited from the club, Karen and I went through the shower of rice from our friends. We then got into the limousine. Again, I had great difficulty, but by now I didn't care. Andrea drove us to the hotel where we were spending our first night of marriage. Karen and I were ushered right up to the hotel's Bridal Suite. Our luggage was already there. Let's just say that Karen and I consummated our marriage several times that night, the first time while I was still wearing my white wedding gown. The next few times were after I had changed into a negligee, in virginal white satin (of course) with a sheer peignoir and a nightgown that was a long, form-fitting satin gown with spaghetti straps that flowed from my shoulders to my ankles fitting over all of my curves. Karen wore a black satin negligee in a style similar to my white one.

Dear reader, I will let you use your imagination to fantasize about that part of the honeymoon. Karen and I are blissfully happy. Ann has been like a mother to me and married life is wonderful, especially when you get to wear the gown and be the bride.
