The New Fantasy 5

Even since Archie was five years old, he knew he should have been born a girl. His parents were always shout themselves horse in the throat getting him to sign his name Archie instead of Annie.

"Here we are, Archie dear." Susan said with a smile as she entered the furniture store with her son's hair well style and containing a butterfly barrette and a touch of red nail polish on his finger nails. He looked a little like a carpenter in his denim skirt out, pink tights and sandals. "How about this nice manly bunk bed," she asked."

"But Mom," complained Archie.

"We can buy you some cowboy sheets and bedspreads for it." Susan urged, glad that her military husband was always out to sea and was luck to be in port three days in the year.

"I want the four posted bed with pink curtains." Archie said as he pointed away from bunk bed to a display that looked like a miniature girls' room.

"I see you lovely daughter has excellent taste." The salesman said as he came up to the two. "I'm sure she'll look like a little princess in any room containing a bed like the one we have here."

"Yes." Susan sighed. "She's my little princess."

"Have you decided what you want to be for Halloween?" She asked Archie as they store workers got the bed finished loaded.

"How about a fairy," Archie asked. "I can wear my leotard and tights from exercise class and put wings on my back. Maybe I'll make myself a glitter wand as well."

"Isn't it bad enough you talked me into letting you take ballet class on Saturdays." Susan asked. "Ballet Saturdays and girls exercise class Sundays. Now you want a girls costume for Halloween."

"I am a girl." Archie said bluntly.

"Archie, hon." You're a boy. No matter what you say or think otherwise that is not going to change."

"I'll dress up in a skirt or a dress but you will never see me in a suit or tie." Archie said as they return home and unloaded the bed. In the room metal toy trucks were covered with rust from lack of us in the corner. It continued to sit in the corner as he kicked off his shoes and knelt inside the five foot dream house he talked his mom into ordering through the mail for his birthday.

"Oh, son," Susan sighed. She was almost in tears as she closed the bedroom door behind her and listened to her son pretend to marry the dolls off to one another. That night Archie had the best dream he ever had. In his dream his skin from the waist down took on the appearance of a pair of beige pantyhose. He wasn't sure if it was hipster of control top but it allowed him to be in hose 24/7 in the dream and in every situation that included no need to pull them down in the bathroom or having to take them off to go to the beach. Of course it was only a dream which brought a smile to his face when he woke to see the fem bedroom at least was a dream come true.

Things didn't get any easier with her son in school. Her mom would send Archie to school dressed in boys' clothes. In the gym locker room he'd changed into a pretty dress or something else equally feminine. His mom would have to leave work early to have a word with his son that boys don't go about in their stocking feet in public wearing dresses. She even got complaints from the mothers of Archie's classmates who learned that Archie would sit with their daughters during lunch to borrow their issue of Cosmo and talk about the cute boys in school.

One of the most embarrassing trips to the principal office was one Valentine Day when the new transfer student gave Archie a $20 stuff bear that song and asked him on a date. Only when he moved his hand under the table to Archie's lap, he learned what he really was. A fight resulted in them going to the principal.

"This has got stop." Sarah said to Archie whose hair was done up in a pony tail wearing a blue tank top, shorts and sneakers without socks. "I want to wash that make up off your face when we get home."

"I will not." Archie protested as he moved on ahead of her in away that made her flume even more.

"Will you stop walking like a girl," asked Susan as she calmed down a bit.

"I am a girl," Archie insisted.

So not to ruin his dresses with grass stain the day his class laid outside to watch the brightest space shuttle launch he even seen, he choose to stay in the tie dye tee shirt and denim jeans his mom chose for him and only replaced his regular socks with a pair of taupe knee-hi and feminine sandals.

Eventually Susan caved in. When it came time for Archie's Jr. High graduation she explained to the school principal that her "daughter" would be showing up in a dress under the graduation gown instead of a suit and tie. After all the available high schools were in other towns and most of Archie classmates would be going elsewhere. While she let her Annie wear an ankle bracelet on her bare leg while at home, she insisted that she wore one under a pair of pantyhose or tights while out in public. She didn't want any daughter of hers showing that she's available to boys by wearing it over her right ankle.

Archie went on hormones for the next for years and legally changed her name to Annie. When she went to college, she ended up in the girls dorm with a female room mate. "I was told all about your special condition." Lisa, her roommate smiled as Annie arrived to see her doing her hair at the dresser mirror. "It will be nice to know a boy not interesting in getting under my skirt."

"Oh, I'm sorry." Lisa said as she put her comb down.

"That's okay." Annie smiled as she unpacked. "I did date a lesbian once before getting into real men. "It will be nice just to be able to do the girl thing with the girls."

"The dorm does have a slumber party tonight so everyone can get to know one another." Lisa said with words that brought a smile for a bright and pleasant future aimed in Annie's life.

THE END
