Chapter 5

The next day over breakfast Sarah looked at Susan and asked "Are you ok Susan?"

"I'm ok Sarah, its just that I have a headache at the moment."

Getting up from the counter, Sarah got some headache pills from the medicine cabinet and past them to Susan, "here you go Susan these should help."

"Thanks Sarah"

Today was Information Technology and while Susan's computer skills were not that great, she was willing to give it a go and was not prepared for all the computers to suddenly stop working along with the lights in the room.

They remained like that for half an hour before the lights came back on and the computers slowly rebooted,

English was the next lesson and it was just as she remembered it, at lunch time all the talk was about the power loss that morning and it turned out that it was not just the computer room that had lost power but the whole school.

After lunch Susan had her first experience in the girl's changing room as she got changed into her gym kit and although she tried to act normal and disguise her nervousness as she waited in the changing room, she kept thinking back to what she had done and Sarah's response to it.

She was a bit startled when Katie walked up to her and said "It's ok Susan, I am a bit nervous as well at the moment as I don't know what to expect, shall we go and see what this school dose in the way of exercise?"

Smiling Susan answered "sure Katie, I mean it can't be any worse than my old school can it."

"That's the spirit Susan." Sarah said from the doorway, "now come on."

After the hard work out Katie approached Susan in the showers and said jokingly, "what was it you were saying earlier Susan about it couldn't be any worse than your old school."

"I know Katie, next time I will not say anything", and once they were dressed in there school uniforms again, she said see you tomorrow and joined Sarah outside the school gates."

"Hi Susan how was your day?"

"Fine Sarah, you?"

"A little strange but I managed today, it was a bit strange with that power cut this morning."

"I know, I wonder if it was just the school that lost power this morning, we must ask my mum when she gets here."

"Talking of which were is your mum, shouldn't she be here by now?"

"Yes she should have been here by now, Oh here she comes now" seeing her mum drive up to the the school gates.

Later that night Sarah asked her mum about whether there was any power cuts at home as the school had a thirty minuet power cut that morning.

"Yes Sarah" her mum answered "it was on the news today, apparently it was a worldwide power cut and no one knows has a clue as to why it happened."

"That is just weird" Susan said, "You would have thought that at least someone might have an idea on why that happened, If you don't mind I am going to bed as I am getting tired."

"Ok Susan, sleep well and I will see you tomorrow" Mrs Jones called after her.
