Gist of the story:

The beach cop finds a lost girl. She is mute. Beach cop took her to Dr. Sarah who developed a device to speak for the mute. The mute girl explained Dr. Sarah about a bad cop who kidnapped her mother and took her to Mayor's forest guesthouse. The beach cop and Dr. Sarah set up a trap and arrested the bad cop and the Mayor.

 

Lost in NY

The Bronx Beach is full of people and business activity. Mike is a beach cop posted in the evening to watch over the people. Dr. Sarah lives across the street. She teaches the dumb and deaf children. She just finished her evening class. She was tired and came to the beach. She was walking in the sand and relaxing. Suddenly Hugo a Mexican guy snatched her hand bad and ran away. She screamed for help. Mike stopped him and handcuffed him to a bench and returned the bag to Dr. Sarah.

Dr. Sarah opened the bag and checked every thing and thanked Mike. She opened a conversation with Mike. Dr. Sarah is working for a federal government project to help the dumb and deaf children with her research. She is developing a device that speaks for the dumb and deaf children. She did not want to marry until her research project is completed. She is dedicated to her project.

Mike was a private Detective. He lost his wife in a mysterious case. He could not forget her. He started drinking and lost many clients and cases. Finally his friend and the sheriff appointed him as the beach cop. He lives in the Bronx.

Mike and Dr. Sarah enjoyed each other's company. Dr. Sarah gave her visiting card to Mike and invited him for dinner next day evening. Mike took Dr. Sarah to the lighthouse office. He showed her how he watches the people in the surveillance TV screens. Dr. Sarah took leave as the beach is closed for the day. Mike walked her to her apartment across the street. He promised her that he would be prompt for the next day dinner. He came back to his office and closed every thing and took the surveillance tapes and locked the office. It's 7.00 pm. He forgot about the handcuffed Mexican guy Hugo.

Hugo steels handbags especially from the young girls. Mike identified him right away. Hugo begged Mike to release him and let him go. Mike asked him for the last time to tell why he steals from the young girls only. Hugo had no particular reasons. His boss wants him to steal ladies handbags. Hugo works for his boss. Hugo promised Mike that he would introduce his boss. Mike uncuffed and released him. Hugo thanked him for not taking him to the police station to book him.

Mike started his station wagon and his return journey to his apartment in Wallace Avenue in the Bronx. He bent down to find his cigarette box. He lit his cigarette. He saw a little girl running across the road. He tried hard to stop the wagon. The wagon turned aside and hit the tree and stopped. Mike got down and rushed to see the girl. The girl was not hit but fell down on the ground. Mike reached her. She screamed aloud. Mike realized that the girl is dumb. He tried to tell her that he is a good person.

The girl looked at Mike and showed him that his hand was bleeding. Mike took his handkerchief and tied around. He assured to her again and again that he is a good person. The little girl slowly walked towards him. Mike opened the door. She got into the wagon and sat in the back seat and fastened the seat belt. Mike came to his apartment in Wallace Avenue and asked her where she wanted to go. She looked around and said some thing in her sign language. Mike could not understand her at all.

Mike asked her to stay with him in his apartment until she finds her parents. They both came into his apartment. She went to the bathroom and took shower and came out with the towel on. Mike gave her a shirt. She asked him about the dinner. He opened his fridge and showed her and asked her to help herself. She insisted that he should eat his dinner with her. He asked her about her family. She told every thing in her language but Mike never understood her. She finished eating and slept right away. Mike began to remember his wife and drank until late night.

The little girl got up early in the morning and drew pictures and wrote her name as Lily. She prepared coffee. She woke Mike up and asked him to have some coffee. She showed him and tried to explain him what happened to her mother. Mike could not understand her at all. Mike told her that he would take her to the police station and try to find her parents. She explained that the bad cop kidnapped her mother and she did not want to go to the police station at all. Mike finally understood her fear and told her that he would take her to Dr. Sarah. Lily further explained that she never went to dumb and deaf school.

Lily finally understood what Mike was trying to tell her and agreed to go to the dumb and deaf school. Mike drove to the police station to return the surveillance tapes. Lily stayed in the wagon and did not want to see the cops. Mike went inside and talked to the sheriff.

Sheriff yelled at him for not retuning the surveillance tapes last night after his duty was over. Mike ignored the Sheriff and left sheriff's office and drove towards Dr. Sarah. On the way Lily was explaining that the bad cop was responsible for all her misery. She kept on telling him many things in her language.

They came to Dr. Sarah's apartment. Sarah is teaching the dumb and deaf children in her basement. Dr. Sarah agreed to take Lily as her student. She told Mike that she had to first do some paper work in the police station to officially take Lily as her student.

Mike promised her that he would do the paper work for her. Mike left Lily with Dr. Sarah and went back to see the Sheriff. Lily explained her story to Dr. Sarah in her language. But Dr. Sarah asked Lily to first learn the sign language. Lily agreed to learn the sign language. Lily understood that she could tell her story in a better way if she could learn the sign language first.

Mike explained every thing to the Sheriff and took care of all the paper work for Lily. The Sheriff asked Mike to bring the photograph of the Lily and have Dr. Sarah sign before him and a government attorney. Mike came to Dr. Sarah and told her that she should see the attorney and the Sheriff and sign before them. Mike gave the papers to Dr. Sarah and went to the beach promising that he would come for the evening dinner.

Dr. Sarah took all her students to the attorney and they all went to the Sheriff. Lily was so much frightened to see the police station and especially the bad cop. After taking care of the paper work Dr. Sarah and the children came back to the apartment school. Mike finished his work and came to Dr. Sarah's place for dinner. Dr. Sarah had already learned so many things from Lily and explained Lily's story to Mike during dinner.

According to Lily's story, Lily's mother Anne went to meet her boy friend at the beach. Someone stole her handbag. She and her boy friend went to the police station and gave a complaint. The bad cop took the address and promised her that they will investigate the case and hand over the handbag. One night the bad cop came to her apartment and asked her to come to the police station. She believed the bad cop and he took her to the forest guesthouse. There the town mayor came and raped her. And the bad cop killed her and threw her body in the valley. Lily watched all this on her little TV screen. Lily had this equipment since she was dumb and duff. Lily could watch Anne's movements on her TV screen and call her if she needed her. Lily explained this story in her language. Dr. Sarah told Mike all these details and asked him to search for Lily's apartment.

Mike finally located Lily's apartment. Dr. Sarah took Lily to her apartment. Lily showed the little TV and the tapes. Dr. Sarah wanted to take the tape to the police. But Mike said that it could prove nothing. Mike gave a plan.

According to the plan Dr. Sarah was walking at the beach. A fellow came and grabbed her handbag. She went to the police station and gave a complaint. The bad cop took her address and promised her that they would let her know when it is found. One night the bad cop came to Dr. Sarah's apartment and asked her to come to the police station to identify her handbag.

Dr. Sarah went with him in the police van. Lily and Mike followed the van. The bad cop took her to the forest guesthouse. The town mayor came and tried to rape her. Lily put on the new talking device and aimed the pistol at him and said, 'not this mummy Mr.'

The mayor was surprised to see the little girl with a pistol. The bad cop came to the scene. Mike stopped him. Dr. Sarah brought the Sheriff to the spot and all the bad guys were arrested.
