Hard or Software ?       by: Prudence Walker

Kevin was a nerd and was always going to be a nerd, although to look at him you wouldn’t pick it. At 6’2", average build, dark hair, he looked like any other normal guy. At college girls found him to be attractive in a virile way but couldn’t seem to get to first base with him. Kevin seemed unaware of the attentions from the female students, not that he was gay or anything, but he had a secret passion, one that took precedence over everything else. Computers, anything to do with computers he was into; he was one of those nuts who had to have every gismo there was. After buying one of those plug-in adapters with pretty little indicators that show what the data stream is doing, he found that he needed to get another special adapter in order to fit it. Sighing in frustration at not being able to use the device then and there, he decided to go to the local mall, where he knew he could get one.

Arriving at the mall he walked to his favorite spot - other than the spot in his room in front of the computer, that was. Suddenly he realized that his shop had disappeared and in its place was a rundown looking shop with a sign saying Spells R Us. Grinding his teeth in annoyance, he entered, thinking he could ask if they knew where the old shop had been relocated.

As he opened the door, he heard a bell tinkling, just like they used to have in the old shops. Looking round, he saw that the place seemed to be filled with odd paraphernalia, bottles and masks and displays of jewellery. Suddenly hearing his name called he turned to the counter to see an older man wearing what looked like an old bathrobe.

"Kevin, what can I do for you today?" he heard, startled.

He blurted out: "How did you know my name?"

The Wizard sighed and pointed to the sign over the door on which was the message I’M A WIZARD THAT’S HOW.

"Oh"! said Kevin, his mind only was half aware of the oddness of that statement, as he spied what looked like computer hard ware just under the glass-topped counter, which stopped all further questions of just how the odd little man came to know his name.

"Can I look at those"? he said to the man who claimed he was a Wizard.

"What are you after"? asked the Wizard.

"Well, I need an adapter to change a 25pin-d socket to a 25pin-d plug socket.

"Oh! You mean a gender changer," said the Wizard, with a twinkle in his eye.

"Yes. Do you have one?" Kevin asked, hopefully.

"Not only do I carry them, but I have them in assorted colours, too," the man replied.

Great, thought Kevin. "lets have a look at them," he said, out loud. Getting out a box, the man opened it to reveal the changers in black and cream and red.

"What colour do you want?" he asked.

"Hmm, I think the cream will be ok," Kevin said.

"Yes, I think the blonde, ermm, cream one will do nicely," replied the Wizard. "This is guaranteed to work for a life time."

Wondering only briefly about the Wizard’s comment, Kevin paid him and left.

Upon arriving home, he rushed to get it installed on his system, sighing in relief, as every thing seemed to be operating nicely now. Then, starting to browse the web in search of his favorite sites, he never noticed the bright red polish that seemed to adorn his now long and shapely nails. So engrossed was he, too, that the mounds forming under what looked like a satin top went unnoticed - even the feel of the bra forming under it didn’t break his concentration.

After an hour or so at the computer, reality firmed again as Katrina suddenly realized she was going to be late for her date with Bob. Getting up and straightening her sexy short skirt, she went to check her make up and give her long blonde hair a brush. Then as she picked up her handbag, she left her apartment, thinking only of the great life she was going to have with Bob.

Back in the shop, Danni having seen everything in the magic mirror with the Wizard, looked at him in puzzlement.

"Are you feeling ok?" she asked. "You never turned him into a bimbo." The Wizard turned to her and smiled.

"I can be nice sometimes," he chuckled. "Mind you if Kevin was like the usual type of guy that we normally get, then when he transformed he would have become his own sexual fantasy."

The Wizard sighed. "But," he continued, "seeing Kevin was a nice person, she simply became a girl with beauty and intelligence.

"Kevin was only guilty of being a nerd and deserved to live a little and not be just stuck in front of a computer all his life. Maybe now, she will find a new interest - or two," he added, smiling again.
