Embedded Light

by Sinner of Eternal Damnation

~*~PART 1~*~Endless~*~

She turned around slowly, the sound of his voice echoed through the narrow passages. She looked at him, his face was mutilated, cuts were all over his chest, but yet, she smiled. Nani walked over to him and help him onto the cold stone floor.

‘Take it easy’ she whispered to him, she slowly stroked his cheek with her hand.

He looked into her eyes, and smiled ‘No, I can’t, not anymore’

With the wall helping him up, he lifted himself to his feet and stretched.

Nani watched him ‘Why do you do this?’ she blurted out.

‘I have a job to do, you know that’

‘…. Of course I do’ she looked down to hard cemented floor ‘I…I want to go with you’

Moshi looked down on her, his dark long hair fell over his sapphire blue eyes, he paused staring into her beautiful face, her hair was limped over both of her shoulders and her heart warming eyes were fixed on his. He nodded slightly, understanding her choice and why.

‘Alright’ He helped her up off the crypts floor. Suddenly a huge rumble echoed through the stone, cold passageways. Nani gasped and whirled around, unsure of where the sound had emanated.

‘Moshi….’ She whispered, and begun to back up against the wall in fear as the sound begun to get closer.

‘Don’t worry, I’ll protect you’ from the scabbard on his back he pulled out a long blade katana. He whisked it in the stale, still air and few times and smiled.

Nani begun to tremble, out of coldness and fear ‘They…are back…’ she whispered under her breath.

Suddenly the cement, stonewall on their right shattered, spraying dust and bits of rubble everywhere. Moshi shielded his eyes with his free hand. He looked at the broken wall when the dust had cleared, in the darkness of the long passageways he made out an odd looking figure, of what looked like a man. But it was no ordinary man, its eyes were missing, the sockets empty and dripping with a dark green liquid, its mouth was open with trillions of bugs crawling in its hair and through its mouth, over what was left of its tongue and teeth. Its skin was pale and dead, falling off in places. It wore nothing but a cloth, its arms were extended and it moaned, it limped its way slowly toward him.

Moshi smiled ‘Zombie fuckers’ he laughed ‘Nani, stay back, let me handle this alright?’

He heard a faint murmur from her, thinking she was still afraid of these creatures of darkness,

She has no idea he thought to himself. The creature came closer and grabbed onto his shirt, piecing his shoulder, blood began to flow out of the wound and Moshi clenched his fists in pain. He lifted his blade and thrust it into the zombie. It landed backwards, but it didn’t stop, it rose to its feet and continued to come closer again.

‘Well, that was only a practice shot’ he smiled, he lifted his hand and a beam of light emerged and cut the beast in half, it screamed out in pain.

‘That should stop you for a little while’ he turned around ‘Na-’ he stopped. She was nowhere in sight.

‘NANI!’ he shouted into the never-ending darkness ‘NANI! WHERE ARE YOU?’ he voice carried on, seamlessly continuing to echo. He looked around, the zombie was no longer moving, the large hole in the wall, she couldn’t have, Nani where are you?

The creature grasp didn’t let up as Nani tried to struggle. It began to moan in a low tone, its smell was horrible, of rotting flesh. Nani had tried to scream several times but it would put its rotten hand over her mouth, the taste unexplainable. Slowly, she began to cry. She knew this was it she had no other chance. The creature finally stopped dragging her along with it, it dropped her onto the ground. Nani opened her eyes, they were stinging terribly, she looked around and screamed, she back up against a wall, in front of her was a mutilated body of a corpse, the skull was beginning to show, but its skin was still rotting.

‘Where is Moshi....’ she whispered ‘Where is he!’ she shouted to the creature.

It began to limp away, leaving her alone, in a death pit of rotting corpses.

Moshi finally reached the middle of the crypts labyrinth, in the middle of circular room leading to eight various pathways was a the patterned floor, the symbol of an upside down pentacle shone he stood, looking around, above him sat a glass ceiling, unnoticeable from the outside world, there in the middle sat the moon, the light of it shone down making the symbol outline of the pentacle shine with a red glow. The light of the moon’s gently shone onto his face when he stood underneath the glass ceiling, his black hair began to slowly brush against his face as a little breeze passed him by. His red eyes scanned the roof, then around the eight separate corridors stared into their own darkness, four were sealed. Moshi eyed these. Each of them had satanic writings on them, pondering and starring at the first one, he walked up to the old door one and touched the old stone. As he did, images began to flood into his head, all to fast. Men being killed, woman being raped and demons destroying human lives, blood rushing from veins, freshly cut wounds being torn, screams of both human and supernatural. As each of the images passed by his mind, a tear of blood fell down his cheek. He took his hand off the door and lifted it to his cheek, he touch the wetness. Almost shock crossed his face.

‘Aurgh, this is….impossible’ in disgust he lifted his hand to destroy the door in an easy beam of energy.

‘Moshi...’ a whisper echoed through the passageways.

He paused and turned around ‘Nani?’ he said in surprise.

‘Moshi…’ the voice said again.

Moshi looked around the crypts stonewalls, there was no one else with him in the room. He turned around swiftly and pulled out his katana as a hand rested on his shoulder, he put it to the stranger’s neck but he stopped.

‘Nani?’ he whispered.

She smiled at him ‘Uh-huh’ she laughed.

Moshi paused ‘I thought you…were gone’

She shook her head ‘Course not silly’

He smiled, she was her normal warm self.

She hugged him and came close to his ear, he didn’t hear what she whispered to him, a little confused, he tried to piece together what had happened, touching her back he noticed she no longer had the mark, of the eternal on her skin. He paused wondering what the hell he was holding in his arms. He then noticed her cold breath against his throat. He pulled away from her suddenly and planted his katana in her heart. The creature returned to its original form, skin rotting, just like the zombie he had seen before, it fell to the ground and disappeared into the thin air. He held the blade in the same position, not moving. He dropped the katana on the ground and the echo of the metal against the stone passed through every crack in the crypt.

‘Nani….’ He said to himself ‘Where are you?’

The man stood outside the graveyards gateway, leaning on his car, he lit a cigarette and looked into the cemetery. He blew the smoke into air and smiled, he stood on his feet and begun to walk to the graveyard gates. He squeezed his way through the gateways doors as they wouldn’t move any further because of vines and the old and rust of the doors and under all the chains trying to block those who wanted to enter the graveyard.

The sky huge black with clouds of rain, lightning had begun to light up the sky every now and then. Slowly he walked among the gravestones, walking over the dead and on top of them. Smoking his cigarette still, he threw it into an open grave.

‘Eat that arsshole’ he didn’t smile, no emotion crossed his face, he turned around and continued to walk through the graveyard. Soon he came to the middle, where a large square cement structure stood. Vines covered its entrance, but its dark door was open, rust had almost completely stopped it from moving, but the inner darkness of the structure was stronger then anything else this world could conjure up.

He smiled ‘This is it’ he jumped over a stone blocking his way and slowly stepped into the deep darkness of the crypt.

Moshi opened his eyes once again, the darkness hadn’t gone and he clenched his fist. He put his hand onto his forehead and felt it, blood was trickling down it from a new wound in his skull. He sighed, Moshi slowly stood onto his shaky legs, his sword was thrown and sticking out of the wall on the opposite side of the dreary room.

‘Fool’ the voice boomed.

Moshi looked up, the spirit still floated above him, blocking out of the light of the moon. Moshi collapsed onto the ground once again, breathing heavily. Blood from his mouth began to drip onto the floor and his head had begun to spin madly.

‘Now’ It boomed again ‘You die’ it lifted it huge hand and pointed it toward Moshi.

‘Nani…’ He gasped ‘For you…I...can’t give…up…’ Moshi tried to pull himself up but he fell back to the cement, hard.

As the spirit raised its opposite hand and formed a blue glowing sphere of energy.

‘Eat lead motherfucker’ A voice said sternly behind it.

The creature turned around suddenly. A man stood in one of the archways, twin pistols in both his hands, he cocked his head and smiled. He then emptied 12 rounds into the creature’s head, the bullet shells hit the floor and echoed through the passageways. The creature fell to the floor and disappeared. Dead. He put the guns into his belt. He looked at the mass on the floor, he wrenched Moshi’s sword out of the wall and walked over to him, he picked him up by his shirt and held him in the air.

‘What are you doing in here?’ he asked, his was voice strong, his eyes were an extremely dark brown and he had almost white hair.

‘I...I came to’ Moshi stuttered, his scars had become to great, blood begun to spew from his wounds ‘Nani…’ he suddenly fell unconscious.

Moshi opened his eyes and looked down at his chest, all his wounds and cuts were gone, he felt his forehead, again all his wounds were gone. He looked around, on each side of him was solid stonewalls, the smell of rotten flesh entered his lungs, he sat inside a coffin, he sat up quickly and jumped out of the stone deathtrap.

‘Awake?’

Moshi looked over to the doorway. There sat the mysterious man.

‘Eden’

‘What?’

‘My name is Eden’

‘I’m Moshi, have you seen a girl named Nani around here?’

‘There’s another here?’

‘Yeah, I have to find her’ Moshi took a step forward.

‘She’s as good as dead in here’

Moshi paused ‘What makes you say that?’

‘Have you seen the evil that rests in here till now?’ Eden stood up and faced him.

Moshi returned his gaze ‘I’m not leaving without Nani’ he said. He walked past Eden, but he stopped him.

‘I’ll destroy you too’ he whispered. Moshi looked at him and Eden smiled.

‘Come with me’ Moshi asked.

Eden looked at him and nodded ‘Very well’

The creature’s dead hand reached out and touched her soft bare skin. Nani tried to move back further into the dungeon, to get away from it, but it still continued to reach out to her.

‘Leave me alone!’ she shouted.

Suddenly a warm hand touched her shoulder.

‘Moshi?’ she turned around.

‘Come with me my dear, I will show you out of this place’

Nani looked at the man, his face was warming as he stared down at her, his blue hair and eyes matched each other, she smiled weakly at him, he seemed the most unlikeliest person to be in the crypt but Nani was happy to see another human being. She turned and looked back. The creature was gone.

‘Where…did it go?’

‘Do not worry about that now’

‘Who are you?’

‘I am Yenke, my lady Nani’

Nani stared at him, a little confused ‘Have you seen a man named Moshi in here?’

‘No, I have not, but if he was, I think he would be dead by now’

Nani looked down to the ground. She felt like crying.

‘Come’ He put a hand around her shoulder. She nodded and stood on her shaky legs and together they walked the back passageways.

‘So you search for this girlfriend of yours?’ Eden asked.

‘Yeah, sorta, she ain’t my girlfriend though’

‘Whatever’ Eden stopped, he tilted his head listening ‘You hear that?’

The whole crypt slowly begun to shake, a huge rumble echoed through the passageways.

‘Its gonna cave in!’ Eden shouted ‘We run. Now!’

‘No! I’m not leaving Nani!’

‘She would of taken shelter, lets go!’

Eden begun to run back into the darkness of the passageways leaving Moshi behind to make his own decision, Moshi paused, thinking about weather he should go and if Nani was safe, suddenly the roof above him began to crack open and bits of rumble began to slip its way through, he ran after Eden to catch up.

Moshi caught up to Eden quickly, he stared as the creatures of the men and women buried and murder in the crypt jumped out the walls toward them.

‘Only hit the ones that matter and run’ Eden pulled out his pistols and fired at them, holding them back so the pair could pass, Moshi nodded and took out his katana from the scabbard and slashed the beings as he passed behind Eden. Moshi almost fell over one of the dead corpses as it tried to grab hold of his leg.

‘Aurgh! Why don’t you die?!’ Moshi slammed his sword into the creatures mouth ‘Learn to die then!’ He caught his balance and continued after Eden ‘Wait up!’ he shouted.

‘Move your ass then!’ Eden shouted back.

Finally they reached the entrance, the zombie creatures were no longer following them but instead being crushed under the rocks from the ceiling. Both Moshi and Eden jumped through the metal door at the right time just as the door slammed shut behind them.

Eden stood up and brushed himself off. Moshi too rose to his feet but ran straight to the crypts doorway.

‘You bastard!’ he shouted into the crypt, he begun pounding on the steel door.

Eden lit another cigarette and watched the graveyard ‘Lets get going’

Moshi dropped to his knees, leaning on the door ‘What’s the point?’

‘Your girlfriend ain’t dead idiot’

Moshi turned his head ‘What do you mean?’

‘Come with me, I know where they have taken her’

Moshi stood up and walked over to him ‘Tell me!’

Eden begun to walk back to the graveyard entrance. Moshi looked back to the crypt’s steel door then followed Eden.

In the car the pair said nothing to each other. Complete silence, struck between them. Moshi looked out the window and studied all the sites going past, the city was only lit by the neon signs, each of them putting a pattern across his face.

‘Stay under the speed limit, the last thing we want to be is pulled over’ Moshi said dazed.

Eden chuckled and put his foot down on the accelerator as the light in front of them turned red, cars slammed on their breaks and spun out of control while Eden skillfully dodged them and continued driving like nothing had happened.

‘Easy’ He laughed ‘People say they shouldn’t play god, death isn’t our own decision, but I find it is’

‘You really are weird’ Moshi turned and looked at him.

‘Thanks’ He smiled ‘We’re almost there’

Eden pulled the car into a deserted car lot and stopped, next to an old warehouse. The only windows were high above the ground just below the roof, all of them had been smashed. The walls had graffiti all over them. Both Moshi and Eden of them studied it.

‘Is this it?’ Moshi asked.

Eden nodded and turned the engine off. He opened the car door and stood onto the pavement. Moshi followed. He looked around, it was completely deserted, no sound, nothing. A piece of crumbled rubbish rolled across the emptiness. A cold breeze had begun to blow and the storm clouds had gathered. They hung across the sky, looking like they could fall onto the world below them.

‘Come on lets go get Nani’ Moshi said, he tried to walk toward to the warehouse but Eden stopped him.

‘Wait’ He lit another cigarette and smiled.

‘Why?’

Eden blew the smoke into his face ‘We wait, for my signal, I’ll show you’

Moshi closed his eyes, trying to avoid the smoke ‘You have to cut back’

‘Smoking can’t kill you’ He laughed.

Inside the lonely, dark warehouse, the demonic creatures had tied Nani to an altar in the middle of the floor, she lay unconscious, but still breathing. Other creatures were lighting candles, another was drawing a pentacle on the ground with Nani’s blood drained from her. Nani opened her eyes and moaned, her head was stinging and she couldn’t see properly.

‘W…Where…am…I?’ She barely got the words out of her mouth.

The creatures ignore her, they took their places on either side of the altar and bowed on their knees, they put their heads on the ground and began to chant. Nani looked around and tried to loosen her restraints. A large figure of a man dressed in black, with a hood over his face came in and stood onto the pentacle. He chanted a few words and stepped up to the altar.

Nani trembled with fear ‘W-what do y-you w-want?’

He removed his hood, revealing his mutilated dead skull. Nani screamed, the chant began to pick up speed. The creature lifted a blade over her chest, it continued to repeat a chant over and over. It quickly thrust the blade into her side, the blood flowed out, thick and red and she began to cry in pain.

‘Stop…please…stop!’

The skull ignore her and lift a cup under the wound he just made, he filled it to the brim and took it away. A creature took the cup from him and walked into the darkness. Nani tears begun to mix with her own blood. The skull laughed and begun to chant again, he held the blade her heart and thrust it down.

‘We go, now!’ Eden suddenly broke into a run toward the warehouse.

Confused, Moshi followed, glad that they were moving finally. He followed Eden around the back.

‘Stupid fucking locks’ Eden pulled out one of his guns and fired it at the lock, it fell off and rolled on the floor.

‘Hurry’ Eden kicked the door down, it echoed through the empty warehouse, he looked around and pulled out both of his pistols ‘Be on your guard’

Staying in the darkness of the boxes Eden looked around, he suddenly looked up above his head.

‘There’ Eden pointed to the ceiling ‘Climb the ladder’

Moshi nodded, he took each step as fast as he could, Eden followed behind him, once they had reached the top they stood on a wire walkway, Moshi looked down below.

‘Where is she?’

‘This isn’t just one warehouse you idiot’ Eden answered, he began to walk toward end of the wire walkways end ‘We go out onto the roof’

Moshi nodded, a little unsure but followed Eden anyway. Eden punched out a skylight and lifted himself onto the roof. He turned and helped Moshi through.

‘Thanks’ Moshi brushed off the rust that had rubbed onto his shirt.

The breeze had quickly picked up and was freezing cold.

Moshi put his arms around himself ‘Tell me where she is!’

‘Come on’ Eden ran across the roof to another skylight, he punched it through and jumped. Moshi gasped and ran over to the same one, he watched in horror as Eden landed soundly and begun firing at the hoards of creatures flooding towards him. Moshi looked around, the place was lit by candles, and a huge upside down pentacle sat in the middle of the room. Suddenly he looked at the altar, he eyes widened.

‘Nani…’ he whispered, rage surged through him and he too jumped into the warehouse, falling down feet first he wrenched out his katana and sliced down on the creature below him. He landed on the ground without pain. He ran toward the altar and sliced his way through the guards of creatures. Almost slipping on the blood on the floor he reached Nani, he cut her loose and dropped his katana, he slowly lifted her off the altar and turned around.

‘Nani,’ he whispered looking at her closed eyes. He dropped to his knees and leaned her against him

‘Please, wake up’ Moshi put a hand on her cheek, it was cold and lifeless.

Eden finished off the rest of the creatures with ease, he turned around to Moshi and Nani.

‘Eden…’ Moshi eyes filled with tears ‘Help her, you helped me…’

‘I cannot help her, even if I wanted to’

‘You bastard! Do something!’ He shouted, his voice echoed through the warehouse.

Eden shook his head and lit another cigarette ‘Sorry’

Moshi brushed a strand of her out of her beautiful face ‘Nani’ he whispered ‘I’m so sorry’ Moshi paused, an idea came to his head. He raised his head to the sky and chanted eight words in the ancient Tohman language. He then leaned over and kissed her cold lips. Eden turned and watched him, his own skin went paler and her begun to color.

Eden smiled ‘You learn something new everyday’

Moshi leaned back and studied her face, slowly Nani’s eyes opened.

‘Moshi…’ she whispered.

‘Nani, its ok’ he took off his jacket and put it around her, he then lifted her off the ground ‘I’ll take you home’

She smiled weakly and leaned her head on his shoulder, she closed her eyes again and fell asleep.

‘Cute girl’ Eden smiled.

‘Don’t you get any ideas’ Moshi stared at him ‘Lets go’

‘Right’ Eden agreed.

As the pair opened the doors to leave the gigantic cold warehouse, a man stood in the rafters, he laughed.

‘She is still the one I am after, if I have to destroy the both of you to get her, I will’ Yenke smiled and disappeared into the darkness.

~*~ PART 2 Meaningless~*~

Nani closed her eyes slowly, the darkness once again closed in around her, its bleeding core touching the depths of her soul. She shivered in fear.

‘Make it all go away’ she whispered and held her head in pain.

‘Nani…Nani…Nani’ a voice said over and over again, echoing through her head. Slowly everything began to light up, for once she opened her eyes. Moshi’s kind eyes looked down on her, he was shaking her gently.

‘Moshi!’ She sat up and hugged him tightly.

‘Hey, I’m so glad your ok, welcome back’

Nani looked into his eyes and paused ‘You...you knew?’

He nodded ‘Everything, you remember don’t you?’

She smiled weakly and rested her head on his shoulder.

The driver pulled the car around the curb and into the highway, relaxed after a full day of work he put his foot down on the accelerator and sped into the night.

Suddenly down a lonely street a shadow of a man stepped out onto the highway, the driver screamed and slammed down on the breaks. The car spun madly out of control and hit a near by telegraph pole.

Slowly the driver awoke, his head was bleeding but he managed to get out of the car. He stood onto the tarred road of the highway, looking himself over he touched his head, it was bleeding but not too bad, but he had a terrible headache.

‘Hello?!’ He called out, suddenly he noticed a man lying in the middle of the road. He wasn’t moving at all.

‘Holy shit….’ He gasped, thinking he had killed him, he looked around making sure he was the only one who was in the street.

Suddenly the man stood, he brushed himself off and turned toward the driver.

‘Oh thank god, you alright ma-’ The driver didn’t get a chance to end what he was saying, the man lifted him off the ground and punched his hand through his stomach, he dropped the lifeless body onto the ground, the intestines of the driver fell from the cut in his stomach and stained the pavement and the blood began to flow out and drip into the drain way near by.

Moshi sat down in the couch and closed his eyes. Nani watched him, then came over and sat beside him.

‘You sure your not hungry?’ She asked.

Moshi nodded ‘I ate while you slept’

She looked down to the floor and then back into his eyes ‘Moshi…’ she whispered.

‘Mm?’ he opened his eyes a crack, then fully, he sat up ‘What?’

‘I…I…’ she blushed ‘Never mind’ she quickly stood up and walked over to the window ‘Are we safe here?’

‘This is my apartment, of course your safe baby’ Moshi stood up and put his arms around her, he kissed her lightly on her neck and looked out of the dark city below. Nani leaned back, happy that he was here with her, she smiled. Suddenly a huge bang echoed through the house. Moshi looked toward the door and stared at it.

‘Moshi…what was that?’ she whispered.

‘Shhh…’ he let go of her and walked over to the scabbard laying on the floor, he silently took the katana out and thrust it through the air ‘Nani’ he whispered and gestured her over to him.

She did as he said and held onto his hand, she stood behind him trembling ‘Moshi…’

‘Its ok’ He answered, he put his hand around her and smiled.

The bang echoed again but this time the door collapsed onto the ground. A huge slobbering beast appeared, it was a deep brown rotting color almost like a large catlike beast, its skin was decomposing and its pearly white fangs glistened in the darkness of the moonlight.

‘And what do you want hm?’ Moshi asked. He lifted his sword into the air and thrust it down, threatening to the creature to stay back. It growled and stepped towards them, suddenly it opened its mouth and spat at Moshi, hitting him in the face.

‘AURGH!’ he dropped the katana and put his hands on his face.

‘Moshi!’ Nani yelled. She watched the creature take another few more steps forward, her instincts made her run in front of him and picked up the katana, almost dropping it with its weight.

She held it out in front of her ‘Get out of here!’

‘Nani…’ Moshi wiped the venom out of his eyes ‘Don’t…!’

Nani looked at him, the creature began to edge its way closer, Moshi stood and grabbed his scabbard, he took the sword off Nani and returned it to its cover.

‘Moshi!’ Nani wailed.

‘Not now’ he picked her up off the ground and dived through the window, shattering through it together they fell down toward the ground. Moshi landed on his feet still with Nani in his arms.

‘I can’t believe how you can do that’ Nani said looking at him.

Moshi smiled and let her stand on her feet, he took her hand ‘Follow me’

She nodded together they crept around the building. Moshi put his hand to stop her and looked around the corner of the building.

‘Moshi!’

‘What?’ he looked back to her, he quickly pulled his hand back realizing where he had touched her ‘Sorry’

Nani blushed and smiled.

‘Lets...get going’ he turned back to the corner and studied the surroundings again. He took her hand and ran into the car park, up to a single car sitting alone.

‘Get in the car’ he ordered, he ran around into the drivers seat and hoped in.

‘Where we going?’ Nani asked getting in the car herself and putting on her seat belt.

‘To met a friend of mine’

Suddenly the last zombie fell to the ground, its crushed skull revealed what was left of its brain, a large huntsman spider crawled inside, the zombie moaned and tried to stand on its one leg but fell down again dead.

‘Fucker!’ Eden yelled into the darkness.

He looked around the dead apartment. Nothing moved, the satanic ritual had been stopped, almost with a regret he turned around to the open sliding door, the sky once again held rain, a wind had picked up and blew the curtains into the room, the only light was coming from the very glass of the door.

‘Moshi…’ He blinked then smiled. He ran out through the sliding door onto the balcony, he walked to the edge and looked out. The wind blew his white hair into his eyes, he laughed.

‘So you been released again’ Eden quickly jumped the balcony and landed onto the ground.

‘Alright Moshi, lets see what you and your girlfriend have gotten yourselves into this time’

Inside the car, Nani sat in the passenger side watching the hundreds of people pass by with their everyday lives. She looked at Moshi, he didn’t look back, and instead he just continued to keep his eyes on the road.

‘Moshi…’ she whispered.

‘Hm?’ he answered. He glanced over to her.

Nani shivered and put her arms around herself ‘I’m sorry, this is all my fault’

‘No, no it isn’t, you didn’t ask for any of this to happen to you’

‘I still feel guilty’

‘Don’t’

Nani looked through the windscreen, a little dazed ‘Where are we going?’

‘We’re here’ Moshi stopped the car in front of a park ‘Come on’

Moshi opened the door and stood onto the pavement. He studied the surroundings, nothing, no sound or anything. He gestured for Nani to get out of the car and she did, she walked over to him and held his hand.

He smiled at her ‘You really like holding my hand don’t you?’

‘Its all warm and it lets me know you’re here for me’

He nodded ‘Come on, we have to go met Eden’

‘Eden?’

‘Yeah, you remember him don’t you?’

‘Oh…him…’ she looked down to the ground, then looked into his eyes and smiled.

Moshi led Nani into the darkness of the park, slowly and together they walked along making sure neither of them tripped on the logs and sticks hanging out of overhead trees and on the pathways. The night had fallen and everything was quiet, which made Moshi think. Once they reached the swamp, Moshi stopped.

‘We’ll wait here ok?’ he turned and sat down under a huge old tree. He leaned against it and relaxed.

Nani looked around ‘You sure?’

‘Of course’

Nani paused still shivering and confused but sat down next to him anyway.

Moshi pulled her closer, hugging her close to him ‘You alright? Not cold are you?’

She shook her head and leaned on his shoulder. Slowly once again she drifted off into the peacefulness of sleep.

‘What are you talking about?’

‘Shhh…you’ll wake up Nani’

Nani opened her eyes, she was still in Moshi’s arms, he was rubbing her back gently.

‘Nani…’ he looked into her eyes ‘You ok? You drifted off’

‘I’m alright’ she looked up, she gasped.

‘My names Eden my dear’

Nani stood up and looked at him ‘You…your Eden?’

Moshi stood up and looked a little confused ‘Yeah that’s him, you were excepting something else?’

Eden smiled ‘Listen kid, you do as I say and you stay safe, Moshi come on’

Eden and Moshi walked a few feet away and begun to talk, Nani couldn’t hear them so she gave up trying. She looked around her, the swamp had begun to rise a mist across it, she smiled. She slowly walked calmly towards the water, she kneeled down and touched the cool wetness. She then stood and stepped onto the water, instead of touching the bottom on the swamp, she stood on the waters surface. She continued walking on the surface and stopped in the middle of the swamp.

‘Eden…’ Moshi stared in disbelief at Nani.

Eden followed Moshi’s gaze. They watched in silence as Nani stood in the middle of the swamp, her hair was being blown back by the tiniest breeze. She looked up to the stars into the sky and smiled. Nani twirled around raised her arms out, she raised her right hand above her head and the water raised itself behind her. Little spheres of glowing energy begun to emerge from the water and dance around her. Her dress flowed around her ankles, the only sound in the whole park.

After while of watching Nani, Moshi stood forward ‘Nani’ he said.

She turned around and looked into his eyes, she smiled. Moshi could hardly describe her beauty, the glowing spheres floated around her body, the wind was blowing her hair back and the water flowing in giant achieves in the swamp. Slowly everything returned to normal and Nani walked back to the bank. She suddenly lost her footing and fell to the ground, Moshi quickly caught her in his arms.

‘Nani?’

Nani opened her eyes ‘Sorry…I…’

‘Its ok, why did you…do that?’

Nani looked out to the swamp, and then back to Moshi ‘I…don’t know’

Moshi helped her to her feet, he smiled seeing she was ok.

Eden lit a cigarette ‘Lets get mov-’

A creature fell from the sky hitting Eden in the back of the head. He fell to the ground, dazed. But still stood back up shortly after. With his head bleeding he took out a gun and pointed it to the creatures head.

‘You motherfucker, you’ll pay for that’

Suddenly the shadow stood into the light.

Nani gasped ‘Eden! Stop! Yenke!’ she said.

‘My dear, it is good to see you again’

‘Why did you do that to Eden?’ she said angrily.

‘I thought he was the enemy, in affect he is’

‘Shutup your asshole’ Eden edged his finger closer to the trigger.

‘Eden don’t’ Moshi step forward ‘What are you talking about?’

Eden dropped his hand and put the gun in its holster, he then walked over to the tree and lit another cigarette after loosing the other one when Yenke attacked him. Nani walked over to him and touched the back of his head, she whispered something to him and the bleeding and the wound disappeared.

‘He himself is not of this world’

Nani turned back to Yenke. She looked puzzled into his eyes.

‘My dear, I think you be all safer if you came with me’

‘She isn’t going anywhere with you’ Moshi looked up.

‘Do you know how to keep her out of harms way? She is needed for a greater task, you cannot be her guardian when the time comes’

Eden looked at Nani and she gazed back. Moshi stared at the pair.

‘You love her, do you not?’

Moshi turned around, he nodded ‘I do’ he admitted it for the first time, he felt happy to say out loud finally.

Nani looked at him and smiled, she blushed a little.

‘Then you should let me protect her. It will be the best for her’

Moshi paused ‘I…can’t just leave her’

‘You may not have that choice weather you want to come’

‘She ain’t going anywhere with you Yenke’ Eden didn’t look up or anything.

Nani had no idea what to do or say ‘I…’

Moshi looked at Eden, then to Yenke. He walked over to Nani ‘Nani…I…want you to be safe, but I want to be with you’

Nani’s eyes filled with tears ‘Moshi…’

‘Nani, don’t worry, I’m hear for you always no matter what’ He leaned closer and hugged her gently.

Nani buried her face in his chest and said nothing, she didn’t want to leave Moshi for anything.

‘Sappy shit’ Eden said under his breath, he looked over to Yenke, surprise crossed his face as he noticed the look of jealousy in his eyes.

‘Have you made your decision?’ Yenke crossed his arms over his chest and smiled.

‘Listen, maybe you didn’t hear me the first time’ Eden stood on his own feet and stared at Yenke ‘I maybe what I am but I’m no idiot, Moshi you give Nani to him and she’ll die’

Moshi looked up to Eden ‘Then she stays with me, I wont let anyone hurt her’

Yenke lifted his hand, Eden quickly rushed forward and pushed Moshi and Nani out of harms way. He raised his hand, just as Yenke fired a beam of light out of his hand. Eden tried to stop it but he fell back.

‘EDEN!’ Was the last thing he heard when everything went form a white to a dull black suddenly.

Moshi opened his eyes slowly. He sat up and looked around.

‘Eden? Nani?’ he stood up. There was almost no light in the dungeon. It was lit by blue fire, with made the room look almost peaceful. Moshi smiled. Suddenly after awakening from a daydreaming, he realized he was alone.

‘Eden?! Nani?!’ Moshi ran over to the door and begun to pound on it ‘Let me out you bastards!’

‘Moshi, your awake finally’

‘Eden?’ Where are you?’

‘The cell next to you’

‘Where are we?’

‘The dungeons of the Lost Keep’

‘How do you know that?’

A long pause floated in the stale air.

‘I…was born here’

‘…here?’

‘Yes stand back from the wall on your right’

Moshi looked a little confused, the wall on his right just sat there, nothing odd about it. Suddenly the wall rippled, just like the water on a lake. Suddenly Eden stepped through it. It returned to its normal solid state.

‘Come on, I know my way around, we have to find your girlfriend’

‘Yeah, lets go’

‘Well my dear, what is your answer?’

‘I will never do anything for you!’ Nani tried to leave the room but the guards wouldn’t let her.

‘There is no escape’

‘Where is Moshi and Eden? Let them go!’

‘You are no place to make demands’

A guard grabbed her arm, his face covered by a steel mask but he still looked down on the small woman ‘Sir? What now?’

‘Take her to the courtyard’

‘NO!’ Nani tried to wrench out of the guards grasp but failed.

The man quickly dragged her out of the room, out to the world outside.

Moshi and Eden slowly walked the dungeons of the dark bottomless castle.

‘So how the hell do we get out of here?’ Moshi crossed his arms over his chest and stumbled almost tripping on a stone ‘Aurgh!’

Eden smiled ‘We take this way’ he stopped in front of a high window in the stone wall.

Moshi looked up ‘Yeah? And how?’

‘Cup your hands and give me a boost’

‘…ok’ Moshi did as he was told.

Eden stepped onto his hands and quickly tried to wrench the window open. It came loose after Eden punched it through. He lifted himself through the hole into the darkness of the night. He studied his surroundings, no one was around, he smiled.

‘Moshi, hurry’ Eden put his hands through the window and helped his friend through.

The two fell to the ground in a heap.

‘Ow, man, get off me asshole’ Eden pushed Moshi away.

‘Yeah like that was deliberate’ Moshi fell backwards, grazing his palms.

‘Shutup, lets…’ Eden paused looking at Moshi.

‘Ah…Eden…’ Moshi pointed behind him.

Eden turned around slowly, a huge skeleton knight stood behind he, the knight thrust his sword downwards and Eden rolled to the side. He reached into his trench coat and pulled out nothing from his holsters.

‘…shit’

Moshi stood on his feet and found that his katana was missing as well. He rushed toward the knight to block it from attacking Eden but another landed from behind him and seized him around the throat.

‘AH!’ Moshi shouted, slowly the air supply to his lungs became less and he gasped for breath.

‘You motherfuckers!’ Eden stood, he lifted his hand to his forehead and concentrated, he spun on his foot and a bubble of energy formed around him. He smiled ‘Freeze’ he said a huge frost covered the ground freezing the knights in their places. Moshi was released from the grasp and he walked over coughing to Eden.

‘Thanks’ he said.

Eden smiled, his hand was still extended ‘I aint finished’ he opened his hand and clicked his fingers, with that the ice shattered and the skeletons cracked into a thousand pieces.

‘Whoa…well you learnt some new moves’

‘Thanks’ Eden smiled and turned to his friend ‘You alright?’

‘Fine’ Moshi touched his throat, a large cut was imbedded in his neck, but he ignored it ‘We have to find Nani’

Eden nodded ‘They might be in the cathedral, I’m not sure or the courtyard’

Moshi paused. He had no idea where to turn ‘Do you know…where we should try first?’

‘I’ll go the cathedral, you go to the courtyard, if we don’t find her, pray she is still alive’

Moshi nodded ‘She is alive’

Eden slowly crept into the cathedrals lonely hallways ‘I will not give up in this life, the life of the dead, I failed in the purity, cursed down as an angel of hell, I rose again to do what? Rescue this woman, I know nothing about? Impossible, she means nothing to me, it is Moshi she loves’

‘That is what you believe, it is what is true’

Eden nodded ‘Master’ he kneeled and then bowed in the lonely cathedral to an unknown power of any man or woman.

‘Child of the darkness, in this world, you have the powers to destroy, but you do not’

‘I have no wish for power, I have the urge for death and to kill but I cannot here’

‘As you and I know, you may die during this last battle’

Eden nodded ‘If my sacrifice is needed then so shall it be’

Moshi quickly darted through the archives.

He smiled ‘Don’t worry Nani, I’m coming for you, I wont let you get hurt’

Moshi slowly looked around the corner of the building, he gasped. In the middle of the courtyard was a lake of water, on its shore was Nani, Yenke and a man he had never seen before.

‘Nani…’ he whispered.

Almost immediately she turned and looked to the corner of the archive where he was standing, he smiled and winked at her. At that moment Yenke turned around and looked to the archive, Moshi quickly darted behind it and hoped Yenke hadn’t seen him.

‘Now what?’ he whispered to himself.

‘You die!’ The man grabbed Moshi from the archives and dragged him over to Yenke.

‘Ah, my boy, so glad to see you again’

‘Let her go!’ Moshi shouted.

‘Moshi don’t, I-’ Nani raised her hand to him.

‘Quiet!’ Yenke ordered ‘Bacura, kill him if he dares to stop her’

‘Master, of course’ Bacura grabbed his neck ‘You understand don’t you?’

‘NANI!" Moshi tried to struggle free.

‘Ah, but where is your friend?’ Yenke smiled ‘The one who is dead, the soul of the underworld, it would be an honor if he was here as well’

Moshi paused ‘Eden…is dead?’

‘He always has been, or didn’t you know that? He is the living dead’

Yenke smiled and pushed aside his hair ‘Now my dear, it is your time’

‘Nani don’t do anything he tells you!’ Bacura tighten his grip around Moshi’s throat.

‘Moshi, I don’t want you to get hurt…please, let me handle this’ Nani eyes filled with tears.

‘Nani…I love you’

‘I know…and I love you too’

Yenke grabbed her arm and pulled her toward the shore ‘Now go’

Nani nodded, she stepped out onto the water once again she stood on it as if it was solid like the ice, she slowly and gently walked out to the middle of the pool. Nani looked around a little dazed, she turned back to the others.

‘My dear, continue or he dies’ Yenke smiled.

Nani looked back out the nothingness, the dark night was slowly rising. She grew afraid, she began to shiver.

‘Please…don’t make me do this’ Nani eyes filled with tears and they streamed down her face once again.

‘DO IT!’ It was seeming that Yenke would lose his patience.

Suddenly through the darkness of the night another shadow walked out onto the lake, just as Nani was doing, it stood on the lake as if it was solid ice. His face slowly became clear.

‘EDEN!’ Moshi shouted, almost with surprise.

‘Nani’ Eden looked into her soft eyes and touched her cheek ‘You know why I’m here, why I came back in this world’

‘Yes’ she whispered.

Yenke, Bacura and Moshi stood on the shoreline, waiting and watching.

‘Do it, I will not have either you or Moshi harmed’

Nani nodded, a single tear rolled down her cheek and Eden wiped it away. Nani lifted her hands and called out the arcane words, the pool slowly rose around the pair.

‘NANI!’ Moshi shouted and anything went a bright white.

Moshi awoke with a start ‘Nani? Eden?’ he said under his breath.

Moshi lifted himself onto his feet, the pain of his own weight almost made him fall over again. The hard cement was not something he wanted to fall into. Studying his surroundings he noticed he was still in the courtyard, he felt his head, it was throbbing painfully but there was no wound. He looked around, confused there was no one else inside the courtyard, which made him nervous.

Suddenly the waters surface of the lake broke and from it burst Nani, she gasped for breath and slipped back into the depths. Moshi gasped and ran into the water, he waded until he was waist deep in water and he continued to go in further into the water, slowly he began swimming and dived, he quickly grabbed Nani and held onto her, he pulled her closer and kissed her, breathing into her cold body. Moshi then swam up to the surface pulling her along with him. Together they broke the surface.

‘Nani, are you ok?’

She opened her eyes and looked at him ‘Yes, of course’

With Moshi’s help Nani and himself swam to the shore, as they got closer, Moshi took her in his arms and carried her out of the lake. Walking along in the cold, wet grass he put her down and put his jacket around her. He smiled and Nani smiled back.

Suddenly a huge crashing sound echoed through the courtyard.

‘Moshi…’

‘Its alright, I’m here’ he hugged her tightly.

‘So you think that’s all that gonna protect her?’ A familiar voice said.

‘Yenke, you bastard’

Yenke laughed ‘I have no use for you, you may have ruined my plans for the underworld, but not again. Your friend is gone, along with Bacura but they will be back’

‘Eden…’ Moshi stood up ‘Nani, listen to me, go, get out of here’

‘Moshi no, I said I wanted to go with you, all the way, I’m no child’ Nani tried to stand but failed.

‘Nani, please’ Moshi didn’t look at her, instead he stared at Yenke.

Nani slowly stood on her feet and begun to back up. Moshi sighed with relief, she was listening to him. Moshi reached to his back, but he realized again he had no katana.

‘Moshi!’ Nani shouted ‘Here! Catch!’

Moshi turned around and reached out just in time. A large samurai blade fell into his hand, fitting snuggly into it.

‘Thanks’ he smiled, and he whisked the blade around in the air ‘Yenke, I don’t care who you are or want you want but’

‘Silence!’ Yenke shouted.

Moshi scowled ‘Give me one good reason’

‘I’ll tell you’ Yenke smiled ‘As you do not know, I have been after Nani since she was only small’

Nani walked up to Moshi and stood by him ‘Yes…why?’

‘You are the child or the prophecy, the one who will unite the world of darkness and light as one. I have been searching for you, for I am the key in this fusion, death means nothing but you will rule on as queen of the underworld, by my side.’

‘You sick freak!’ Moshi stepped forward.

‘Moshi…’ Nani began to tremble, she hide behind him ‘I don’t want to be…who he says’

‘Its ok’

Yenke raised his hand and suddenly the whole courtyard shone an eerie black, the darkness slowly surrounded them, transporting them to another world in which maybe. Moshi, Nani and Yenke stood floating in the air above a darkened city, almost destroyed by creatures roaming around on the ground.

‘My dear, you have seen what this world can become, I can give you power and eternal happiness’ Yenke lifted his arms to his sides.

‘No, never, how could anyone be happy with what you want?’ Nani shouted at him.

Suddenly light of the village below rose up to Yenke ‘My powers are stronger then anything you have ever known’

Nani and Moshi watched as Yenke changed from a man to his original form. A huge slobbering demonic being appeared in his place, his claws reached out toward them, his dead lips curved into a smile.

‘Neither of you will leave this place alive’

‘No! Your wrong!’ Nani shouted. She lifted her arms above her head and slowly the illusion disappeared.

‘What power, you will be mine’

‘Nani, come on’ Moshi grabbed her hand and pulled her along with him.

Together the pair ran along the achieves into the darkness of the castle.

‘Moshi, I can’t keep going’ Nani tried to let go of his hand to stop but he wouldn’t let her go.

‘Nani, I’m sorry but we have to keep going’

‘Plea-‘ She suddenly tripped over a stone in the stone walkways, she hit the ground hard, grazing herself.

‘Nani!’ Moshi turned back, he kneeled down on the ground and pulled her into his arms ‘Are you ok? Are you hurt?’

She hugged him ‘No, I’m ok’ she gasped for breath.

Moshi looked down on her ‘I’m sorry’ he lifted her up from the ground ‘Don’t worry about anything’ he held her close to him and begun to walk through the castle. A huge roar echoed through the castle, Moshi looked up to the sky ‘Yenke, this is it’

Slowly Moshi and Nani made their way through the castle.

‘Moshi, please put me down, I’m to heavy, you need a break’

‘No, I’m fine’

Nani looked at him, she felt like crying ‘W-where are we going?’

‘Trying to find the doors to get out of here’

‘What if we don’t?’

‘Don’t say that then and it wont happen’

‘Moshi! Wait! Where do those doors lead?’

Moshi looked to where her gaze was leading ‘I don’t know’ he walked over to the doors, they were decorated with a large metal dragon guardian had been crafted onto it. Moshi kicked the door in,

‘The cathedral’ He gently put Nani down, so she could stand on her own feet.

‘Thank you’ She slowly walked forward into the quiet coldness of the cathedral ‘Wow…’ she twirled around looking up at the ceiling, the pictures of the past sat above their heads.

‘Nani…we should go’

‘No, not yet, lets stay awhile’ She sat down on the floor and began to hum a song Moshi had never heard of.

Moshi looked up to the ceiling then down to Nani, he walked over to her and sat behind her ‘Nani…’ he pulled her close to him ‘Are you ok?’

‘Of course’ she leaned her head back and kissed him on the cheek.

Moshi looked to the altar in the cathedral ‘Nani’ he said, he voice drifted.

She looked at him, then to the altar, the floor begun to rumble with an almighty power. Moshi clung to Nani to make sure she would be safe. Nani screamed, suddenly the floor in front of them exploded.

Yenke emerged from the giant hole ‘The underworld awaits you!’

‘Or not!’ Moshi stood up and defended Nani.

‘You have no idea what your doing mortal’

‘Ha! Me? A mortal, if I am your just like me’

‘I am no mortal, I am the ruler of the underworld’

‘You’re the ruler of nothing!’ Nani stood up, she almost tripped on the carpet.

‘My dear, come, rule with me, I will give you everything’

‘Shutup will you!’ Nani shouted.

Yenke’s patience ran thin, he lifted his hand and a sphere of black light glowed strongly. His wings beat with an almighty power to keep him afloat in the air, his red skin was leathery and armored, he looked down on the small pair, and he smiled. Moshi quickly pushed Nani aside just as the beam was thrown from Yenke’s palm.

Moshi lifted his arms out and held the blast from his face ‘Yenke! I wont let you do this!’

‘As you wish’ Yenke quickly focused three stakes of energy and threw them at Moshi.

The stakes suddenly stabbed their way through Moshi’s chest, he yelled out in pain, slowly his hands dropped to his sides and the blast hit him. Moshi flew back and slammed against the stone dragon in the wall. He didn’t move, he no longer looked like he was breathing.

Nani sat up and looked around ‘Moshi?’ she stood on her feet ‘Moshi?!’

Yenke watched, floating in the air and he began to laugh.

Nani looked up to him, then over to where he was looking ‘MOSHI!’ she quickly ran over to him, she put her hand on his chest ‘Moshi…I’m sorry…I…’

‘Nani…remember the…most…important thing…I…love…yo-’ Moshi’s eyes closed and his head fell back, he stopped breathing suddenly. Moshi was dead.

‘NO!’ Nani yelled as tears fell down her cheeks.

‘Come with me my dear’ Yenke smiled he laughed again ‘He is dead, and there is no way you can revive him’

Nani slowly stood on her shaky legs, she clenched her fists ‘You…you killed Moshi…he was the only man in this world I loved so deeply’

‘Love has nothing to do with this’

‘No, it has everything to do with this!’

‘You have no idea what you are saying’

‘Your wrong! I know more then you do!’ Nani lifted her arms above her head ‘I won’t let you hurt anymore!’ a white glow emanated from her body. Yenke floated back, he begun to realize his mistake. Nani lifted her arms out to her sides, the power of her own soul was far more greater then he knew. Suddenly the room exploded in a great glow of white energy.

‘NO!’ Yenke shouted.

Nani awoke, she slowly lifted herself up ‘Moshi?’

There was no answer. She stood onto her feet and looked around, she ran over to Moshi and put her arms around him. His cold body didn’t reply.

‘Moshi…’ she put a hand on his cheek ‘Don’t leave me, please’

Suddenly a buzzing sound echoed through the room, Nani looked over to the altar, on its right side, a black wormhole appeared. From its center Bacura stepped out, he smiled.

‘Nani’ he said, he stepped forward toward her.

‘Please, no!’ she clung to Moshi’s body, but he still gave her no reply.

Bacura removed his sword and continued to walk towards her at a faster pace. Suddenly he stopped in his tracks, blood begun to saturate his shirt.

‘No, no, no, we weren’t finished’

‘EDEN!’ Nani shouted with surprise.

Bacura’s body slumped to the floor dead. Eden stepped over it and laughed, he then walked over to her and helped her up.

‘You alright?’

Nani’s eyes filled with tears, she fell into his arms and she buried her face in his chest, sobbing. Eden hugged her close to him, at this moment he had no idea what to do. He looked over to Moshi, he now understood the reason why she was doing this.

‘Nani, it is nothing to cry about’

Nani looked up at him and wiped away tears out of her eyes ‘How do you know?’

Eden lifted his hand and slowly Moshi begun to move, he breathed in deeply.

‘Moshi!’ Nani lets go of Eden and put her arms around Moshi.

He begun to breath in gasps ‘Nani…I…’

‘Don’t talk’

Eden lifted him to his feet ‘Come on man, time we got going hm?’

Moshi nodded, he leaned all his weight onto Eden having no strength himself. Nani walked beside them, seeing if she could do anything.

Slowly the group exited the castle, the sun had just begun to rise over the tops trees.

‘Nani, this is just the beginning for you, but it will end for only a while’ Eden didn’t look at her, only to the quiet city below the castle.

Nani nodded "I know, but as long as I have you two as guardians’ she smiled ‘I’ll be fine’ she looked at the pair.

‘Forever, I’ll be by your side, you know that’ Moshi smiled.

Suddenly a huge rip sounded and the building behind them burst into ruble.

‘Eden!’ Moshi shouted.

‘Yeah I know, he just doesn’t know when to die’

Suddenly a huge creature appeared, its gigantic jaws curved into a smile, ‘My master wishes you dead humans’ It lifted its gigantic paw and thrust it toward Moshi and Eden.
