Diamonds In The Ruff
by John Hudson
THURSDAY
Once again it is a bright and cheery morning as Julie gets up and dresses for work. Remembering the previous night she reflects on how really grateful she is to have John's assistance in this whole ordeal with the diamonds. "This truly is God working in our lives," she senses." She is surprised by the coolness in the air as she steps outside to begin walking toward the bus stop a few blocks away. Even her 4.5" heels weighted slightly by the diamonds in the heels do not bother her as she walks. The greenness of the trees and the birds chirping away are a reminder to her of God's graciousness and that even though it is summer, there is still a hint of spring in the air.
Julie arrives at her bus stop a few minutes early and settles into one of the benches. She is glad to have a chance to get her weight off her feet, even if it is only for a few minutes. Unlike yesterday when she was the only passenger waiting, she has been joined by a rather attractive young lady. She sits quietly on the bench admiring the nature around her and cognizant of the attractive woman seated beside her. She looks vaguely familiar, but Julie is unable to place her. A few minutes later the bus arrives and they click their way on the bus and have a seat about mid way down the isle. Julie settles into her seat and just watches the hustle and bustle of the daily routine as her ride continues. Surprisingly, the lady waiting with her sits next to her on the bus. Today Lucy has changed her facial appearance to keep Julie from recognizing her and with intentions of getting to know Julie quite a bit better.
"Mind if I sit next to you"? Lucy asks wearily and hoping Julie does not recognize her. "No problem, in fact I'd like some company", Julie says. Lucy sits down daintily. A few minutes go by as the ladies watch their surroundings and then Lucy introduces herself as Jenny Lind from a neighborhood on the North side of Julie's bus stop. "I just moved in a few days ago and I'm finally getting my feet on the ground in my new place", Jenny says. She is delighted that Julie has really no idea who she is. "Do you work downtown"? Julie asks. "Why yes I do. I work in the Allstate Insurance Office on Boulder Blvd. How about you". "I work in the Peterbilt office as an Administrative Assistant. I have worked there about five years and I really enjoy the work", Julie comments. They ride in silence a few minutes longer and Julie watches as Jenny (Lucy) crosses her leg toward the isle of the bus and slowly lets her 4" heel begin to drop off her foot. It is just a casual thing and Julie pays only the slightest attention as Jenny lets her shoe slowly begin a descent that begins to show the dark of the reinforced heel of her stockings. As they begin to get close to their stop Jenny asks. "Got anything planned for tonight Julie". "Well, not at the moment", got something in mind". "Well, Jenny asks since we are both practically neighbors I was thinking maybe we could grab a couple of burgers at Bishops restaurant and maybe catch a movie before going home to our empty apartments". Jenny waits in anticipation knowing that Julie and John have been pretty tight lately. "Well, I think that would be nice", Julie says. 'Not very often that I get a night out with another woman friend. I spend most of my time either at work or home and not a lot of extra down time". "Since I am new here", Jenny questions, "where would be the best place to meet?" Jenny uncrosses her leg and lets her foot slide into her shoe and then both ladies get up to head for the front of the bus and their exit. Jenny goes a little slower due to the tightness of her skirt, especially going down the steps of the bus. Julie is right behind her and feeling pretty good about the prospect of a night out with a new person who could become a fellow bus companion. Little does she expect what will happen later that night!
They leave the bus slowly as their tight skirts slow their progress. Once off the bus Julie begins her 4-block work to the "Peterbilt" office. Jenny decides to tag along with her a couple of blocks and firm up their date for that night. "Where would you like to meet", Jenny questions again. "Oh, I completely forgot you asked me that question", Julie quips. "Lets see, I think that we could meet about right here. We are about half-way between our two buildings. Lets say here at 5:30. Ok with you". "Why yes", Jenny says. "Right here at Fourth and Boulder will be just fine. I'll see you tonight at 5:30 pm," Jenny comments taking the Fourth street path to her job at Allstate and leaving Julie to go down Boulder to Peterbilt Trucking.
As Julie enters her work office Mr. Rosenberg comments about how nice she looks today in her yellow and black outfit. Julie feels smug and does a slight curtsie to show her approval. It has already been a busy morning as she scans the top of her desk. A mountain of paperwork awaits her. However, Julie is pretty excited about an evening with possibly a new friend. She gets busy on the mound of paperwork and soon forgets about everything else. About 10:00 am she gets a call from John. "You ok", he asks. "I haven't heard from you all morning. Just wanted to make sure you didn't have any problems". "Oh no, no Julie explains. In fact I met a very nice lady on the bus this morning and we are going to have a quiet dinner and a movie tonight". "Oh", John said with some disappointment in his voice. "Should I keep an eye on you, just in case." "I don't think so, this lady is very nice and I think it will do me good to be separated from this crisis for a few hours. Don't you." "Maybe so," John says, unconvinced. "Well, you have a good time and call me as soon as you get home." "Ok, no problem," Julie says. They talk a few minutes more and then ring off. Even though Julie is tired she notices an unusual no of men lurking around her desk and decides to stay at her desk, even during the lunch hour instead of getting up too much. By the time 5:00 comes her feet are hurting a little bit and she heads to the bathroom to freshen up a bit before meeting Jenny. She straightens her stockings and dress and washes under her arms and puts on fresh deodorant and then heads to Fourth and Boulder to meet up with Jenny (alias Lucy).
Meanwhile, after leaving Julie at Fourth and Boulder Lucy (Jenny) had walked right on past her fictitious Allstate office and directly to her car parked about a block away. She is confident that she had indeed put on a good "show" for Julie and convinced her that she really was a new neighbor. She gets into her car gingerly and decides to stop at a grocery on the way back to the apartment. She also knows tonight will be a long night and she will need to get some extra sleep. At the grocery she gets some fruit and vegetables for the noon lunch. By the time she arrives back at the apartment Bruce is up and around. He is washing some of the morning dishes as Lucy walks in the back door.
Lucy goes to the sofa and arranges it so she can lie down. She does so and puts the heels of her stilettos on the arm so her feet are slightly above her head. She then starts to drift off to sleep knowing she will need to get up soon and head back to town. After laying there a few minutes Bruce approaches. "Want anything to eat." He inquires. "No", Lucy comments. "I got about 5 hours and I'll need to get up and head back to town. I got that date with Julie we needed. She did not even notice me. It was so cool", she comments. "Got an idea about after the dinner and movie", Bruce asks. "Absolutely", Lucy comments trying to act like she needs to sleep. "WELL, What do you think", Bruce says quietly admiring Lucy's legs as her skirt slides higher revealing the tops of her stockings.
"I think you can take me to town this afternoon in your truck and I will meet Julie at 5:30 pm. Julie and I will go to the Bishops restaurant as planned and then see a movie and maybe do some window shopping before. I will suggest we see 'The Great Escape' at the old Ritz Theater. During all of this you will tail us from a distance so you will know the movie we go to. When we come out from the movie we will walk awhile and I will suggest an alley way to cut down on our way to the bus stop. When we enter you need to be ready to help me kidnap her at some point. We can put her in your truck and take her to the old abandoned mill near Wichita Falls. How does that sound," Lucy queries. "Fine by me," Bruce says watching as Lucy uses the sofa pillows to work her shoes off her heels. Her shoes are about ¾ off her feet as she cuddles up to go to sleep. Bruce lets her sleep for about 30 minutes and then slips her shoes off and puts a blanket over her on the sofa. He can tell she is really tired.
At 4:00 pm Lucy wakes up and stretches and gets up to fold the blanket and paddles off in stocking feet to put it away. She also reapplies her make up and combs her hair some. However, she is careful not to look too good or she might give herself away. "After all, she thinks," I am supposed to have put in a hard day and be tired when I meet Julie at 5:30 pm.
Just before 5:00 Lucy puts her 4" heels back on and does some last minute adjustments to her stockings and garter belt. She then goes out side to go with Bruce to town. "Boy, I'm glad I'm 4" taller or I might not be able to make it into this truck," Lucy comments as she hikes her skirt up to get into the truck. Bruce again catches a glimpse of Lucy's stocking tops and garters as she swings herself into the truck cab. "You really shouldn't be doing this to me so late in the day," Bruce remarks. "Doing what," Lucy quips knowing full well what he means. "Revealing more of you than what I should be seeing," Bruce says. "If we were not going on this errand for the money you would find yourself on your back in the bed," Bruce quips quietly. "Well Bruce you will just have to hold off awhile. We will have our chance when the diamonds are finally in our hands. And, just think of this. You will have two lovely ladies to watch tonight, not just me."
Bruce and Lucy drive in relative silence to the corner of Second and Boulder where Bruce drops Lucy off. "I can get out here", Lucy says. "I want to give Julie the impression that I have walked the distance and not been dropped off." "Of course," Bruce says as he watches Jenny (Lucy) climb down out of his truck. Lucy then picks up the pace and heads the final 2 blocks to Fourth and Boulder. As she gets to the predetermined meeting place she sees Julie standing by a pillar. She is stunning in her yellow and black dress and 4.5" Black heels, one of which is hanging by her toes as Julie has lifted her foot out of the shoe to relieve the pressure on her toes. She slides her foot back into the shoe as she sees Lucy approaching. Together they walk off toward Bishops restaurant about 4 blocks away. By this time Bruce has parked the truck and is watching them from a distance across the street. He follows awhile when he catches a glimpse of what looks to be John also following them on the same side of the street. He decides to let them get to their destination before taking care of this new development.
Once inside Bishops Julie and Lucy seat themselves in a corner booth and talk about their day. Bruce watches John and when he sees him standing in an alleyway across the street to keep from being observed he backtracks and crosses to the other side and then picks up the pace and goes another block to get the alleyway on the opposite side. John is still in the same position so Bruce walks silently about half way to John so he is shielded from view by a dumpster about mid way down the alleyway. The dumpster is fairly tall and he hides behind it a few minutes to catch his breath. Then with renewed strength he quickly walks up to John and as John turns to see what is moving Bruce hits him over the head with a gun butt. John quickly slumps to the concrete. Bruce then drags him down the now dark alley to the dumpster where he pulls out rope to tie his hands and feet tightly. He also uses a handkerchief to tie around his mouth and keep him from yelling. He then uses the rope to tie John to the dumpster itself for better security. Bruce then lifts John into the dumpster full of trash, papers and old rags etc. Bruce is confident that with John bound and gagged he will not be able to get free and get out of the dumpster before he and Lucy get Julie and get out of town.
With John out of the way Bruce goes to the alley entrance where John was standing. Since it is now dark, he can't see any sign of Julie and Lucy inside the restaurant. "I sure hope they didn't come out while I was taking care of that other guy", he thinks to himself. A few minutes later he sees the girls inside as they prepare to pay for their meal. Then they walk out and head for their movie. However, they soon change direction and head in the opposite direction of the Ritz Theater. "I sure hope they stay downtown", he thinks". They walk slow enough that he easily keeps up with them. "Beautiful to look at, but they sure don't move very fast in those heels", he remarks to himself. He watches them for close to 45 minutes as they stop in several windows to window shop and walk. Finally they arrive at the old Majestic Theater and then enter confidently. They are laughing and joking and it is obvious they are having a good time.
With about 2 hours to kill before the end of the movie Bruce decides to return to the alley dumpster and check out John's condition. The girls had taken a lot longer to get to the movie and he doesn't want John to interrupt his plans for Julie. He arrives back at the dumpster to find John still out and tied tightly. He even leans inside the dumpster to check the ropes and make sure they are quite tight. They are. Then he goes the couple of blocks to get his truck and move it closer to the Majestic Theater. With that Bruce returns to a station just across from the movie to watch for the girls to reappear after the movie.
About 10:30 pm Julie and Lucy reappear. The streets are dark and quiet and he can hear the tap tap tap of their heels as they head for a bus stop. They will have to go at least 6 blocks and so Bruce hangs back just far enough so his own movements can not be detected. After going about 3 blocks Bruce notices that they turn down an alley way hopefully for them a shortcut. Immediately he goes into high gear and races down 7th street, which runs parallel to the alley and then back to the entrance of the alley on the opposite side. Again, he can hear them talking quietly, but their heels tapping on the bricks are a definite indication that they are about 1/3 of the way through the alleyway. Quietly he slips up the alley and waits behind a dumpster as the girls tap their way toward him. A few minutes later he can hear their voices as they talk about new computers being introduced at Peterbilt where Julie works. Fortunately, Julie is on the inside toward the dumpster. She is stunning to Bruce as she walks toward him in the yellow and black dress. Her stockings seem to just shimmer in the light from the alley as she walks toward her kidnapper.
As Julie gets to Bruce's end of the dumpster Bruce reaches out and puts one hand over her mouth and the other around her chest and pulls her toward the dumpster. As he pulls her off her feet she begins kicking wildly and her heels dig into his shins. "Get her legs Lucy, "get her legs before her heels pummel me to death", Bruce shouts wildly. Instead, Lucy removes one of her own heels and hits Julie over the head. She does this twice before Julie slumps to the brick pavement. Standing on one foot, Lucy slides her shoe back on and then gets a wad of rope from her purse to tie Julie. She hands the rope to Bruce who first binds Julie's hands behind her back and then takes the rope around her waist a couple of times and then around Julie's knees and finally to her shoes. He wraps the rope around her ankles and then the heels of her shoes and around the instep as well. Lucy just stands and watches. Bruce finally says "Don't you have something we can gag her with". Lucy first responds "NO" and then remembers her slip is just a little too long and so raises her skirt and rips enough material from her slip to go around Julie's mouth a couple of times. By this time Bruce is through with the rope and he takes the slip material and gags her mouth. Then he picks Julie up at the waist and hauls her over his shoulder head first and carries Julie toward his truck.
Bruce and Lucy walk quickly down the alleyway to Bruce's truck. "Open the tailgate for me", Bruce requests as they near the truck. Lucy responds and Bruce lays Julie down in the bed of the truck with her head just under the rear window. Then he rechecks the ropes to make sure they are secure. Then he covers Julie with a blanket that was folded in a corner of the bed. In the meantime Lucy is about to enter the passenger compartment. "Whoa Nelly", Bruce quips. "We need to snap this tarp across the top of the bed. I don't want cars behind us to see a woman tied up in the back of the truck. Easiest way to attract suspicion". "Ok", Lucy says, but hurry because my feet are killing me". "Ok, I understand", Bruce says. "Just take this end and snap it down across your end and then we can go". Bruce and Lucy then take the tarp and snap it around the bed of the truck leaving the end by the window loose. They then enter the cab. Lucy gets in but as before has to hike her skirt up quite a bit in order to clear the seat. "NO comments", she says to Bruce. "I'm mad at you for bringing this truck in the first place. You know how hard it is for me to get in, especially in 4" heels and a tight skirt". "You have my sympathy there", but on this journey we need the height of the truck and besides we don't know what kind of terrain we will get into once we get to the hideout". "I suppose you have a point", Lucy says. They ride in silence for about 45 minutes each thinking to themselves as Bruce guides the truck out of town and they get on the highway for the hideout. After this time passes Bruce quips "Do you suppose you could get the map from the glove box and tell me about how far we have left to go". "Ok", Lucy says as she drags a map from the box and begins unfolding it. "Don't suppose you could have gotten a smaller one", says Lucy unfolding the map across her lap. "Don't come much smaller than that at least where you can see any detail to amount to anything", Bruce says. With that Lucy finishes unfolding the map. She unfolds the map and decides that while doing this she might as well straighten out her legs a bit to allow the map to lay flatter. This also gives her the opportunity to slip her feet out of her heels enough to give her toes a little breathing room. With the map covering her legs it is also impossible for Bruce to see that she has her shoes partially off, something she knows would turn him on. A few minutes later she finds their objectives and quips to Bruce "Looks like we are about 70 miles or so from the hide out. There is a very small town about 40 miles away where you can stop for gas". "Great work", Bruce says. "That will be a good place to gas up and stretch a few minutes". Lucy puts the map away and slips her shoes back on.
During this conversation Julie is in the back of the truck and she comes to about the time they reach the highway. It takes her a few minutes to get her bearings and realize that she is in the back of a pickup, gagged and tied up. "Oh, how I wish I had depended more on John today", she says to herself. Bruce and Jenny totally tricked me and now look at the predicament I am in". With her hands tied behind her she quickly checks the tightness of the ropes. Her wrists are tight, in fact almost too tight because she can feel her hands losing circulation. The she arches her back to use the tips of her fingers to check the ropes on her ankles and shoes. To her surprise there is a little bit of play around her shoes. She tries to arch her back further to reach the heels of her shoes figuring she might be able to work her shoes off and work slack throughout the ropes. But it was not to be. Instead she moves her shoes against each other and up and down. As she does this she can feel her shoes slowly begin to come off. But it is a slow process because the ropes go under the instep of her shoes and feet together. As she works the process back and forth, up and down and against each other she finally frees both her shoes. As she does she can feel slack increasing in the rest of the ropes. Finally her shoes are disconnected from her feet enough to where she can once again arch her back and this time removes the shoes from the ropes. With this done she quickly unties the remainder of the ropes and frees her wrists. Then she slips her shoes back on and routes the ropes about the way they were originally, but knowing she can get loose at a moment's notice. Then she covers herself with the blanket and lies very still. It isn't long before she can feel the truck slowing down and making a turn. She can sense enough light through the tarp to realize that they are pulling into a convenience store or truck stop. Upon hearing Bruce and Lucy emerge from the cab she gets extremely still knowing Bruce will probably check her before doing anything. Sure enough he unsnaps the cover and pulls the blanket back to see that she is still tied up. "Come on, Lets go, I'm hungry," Lucy says. Bruce replaces the tarp and Julie can hear the tap, tap click, click of Lucy's heels as they head inside.
Julie waits for the sound of Lucy's heels to disappear and then quickly pushes the blanket aside and unties herself again. She moves quickly to the tarp snaps and unsnaps them and peers outside. She can see directly into a convenience store/ diner. "This end won't work," she says to herself and then quickly goes to the other end of the bed and unsnaps most of the tarp. Ahead is the highway, the entrance and buildings to her right. Without wasting time she opens the tarp and starts to just hop out. "Oh no", she says to herself this thing is about 4' off the ground. She then moves down a bit so she is directly over a wheel. She climbs down using the tire and wheel of the truck for support till she is on ground. She then re-snaps the tarp and scurries as fast as she can for a vacant building to her right at the very edge of the parking lot. Once there she moves into some tall weeds (bushes) so she will not be seen in order to plan her next move.
Julie doesn't have to wait long before she sees Bruce and Jenny (LucY) emerge from the convenience store. They are walking confidently and she can tell they have had a satisfying meal by the bounce in their walk. However, as they near the truck Bruce senses something wrong. He tugs at the tarp and much to his surprise and dismay there is NO Julie. "Oh Crap", he says. "Let's spread out and look around. She can't have gotten too far in those heels she was wearing", he acknowledges. Jenny is headed straight for Julie and Julie in self-defense hankers down as low and as small as she can. She is glad the moonlight is behind and not in front of her. Jenny approaches and is only about 10 feet from her as she begins a search of the edge of the parking lot. Fearful of getting in too much brush, she keeps to the edge of the pavement and uses her flashlight to shine into the brush. She passes Julie pretty easily, but only because she is hesitant to get into the brush. Jenny and Bruce edge their way around the parking lot toward the other side. When they are about half way Julie begins to inch back into the brush and toward them. She goes slowly so not to make any more noise than absolutely necessary. Her 4.5" heels sink into the damp ground as she goes. She realizes this is a target, but also figures that taking her shoes off will limit her speed to get away from her kidnappers. A trade-off she surmises.
After about 20 minutes of slow going Julie sees a clearing where she can make the highway. Figuring that they have come from the East she has put herself into a position to head back the way she came. Walking very slowly and deliberately, she watches Bruce and Jenny get into the truck and of all things head toward the West. "What a break", Julie thinks to herself as she lets the taillights disappear before crossing the highway and beginning a long walk back the way she has come. She is tired and her feet ache, but she knows that she must keep going in hopes of finding a car traveling in the same direction so she can get back to John. She walks slowly watching behind her for any vehicle that might approach. She also realizes that she needs to stay alert for Bruce and Jenny returning in the truck.
Julie walks for quite awhile her feet aching more and more from the weight on her toes. Suddenly, a light pops up behind her. Not desiring for the approaching car to see her she scampers into some tall weeds behind her and watches as the station wagon zooms past her. "Well", she surmises "at least that wasn't Bruce and Lucy, but I sure could have used the ride". Julie decides to wait in the tall grass for awhile and give her legs a break from the constant pounding on the paving. While laying on her side she examines her shoes to see if the heels are loose or if the heel tips have come loose. "This is amazing she thinks to herself. By all rights they should have broken down and the diamonds should be working their way out of the heels. John really did an excellent job of fixing them".
After this short break she gets up and heads back for the highway shoulder a few feet away when she sees light behind her. This time they are not approaching very fast and she knows it must be Bruce and Jenny looking for her. Julie inches her way back into the tall weeds and pulls them around her so she is well hidden. She watches intently as the pickup slowly approaches her position. "I have got to deal with them tonight", she thinks, "Otherwise they will get the best of me. As she peers out she can see Jenny on the step of the pickup watching the tall grass for movement. A plan begins to form in Julie's mind as she carefully sits so very quietly as the pickup truck inches toward her position. Julie pulls a small pen knife from her purse as she hears Jenny saying "Bruce, its no use". "These weeds are getting so tall that she could be anywhere out there". She says this just as the front of the pickup moves past Julie's position.
With the pickup slowly inching its way along and Jenny perched on the step ahead of her Julie flattens out on her stomach and moves quickly in the tall grass to catch the rear tire of the pickup tire working its way past her. With all her strength she then focuses on a place in the tire and stabs her knife into the tire. When she withdraws the knife there is a short "Woof" of air and then she hears just a low whistle as the air escapes the tire. She quickly folds the knife and puts it in her bra and plants the purse next to the shoulder of the highway so she can find it later. Her plan now is to follow the truck till the tire goes flat.
Bruce and Jenny drive on slowly for what seems to Julie to be hours and a very long time. She had figured on the tire losing air faster than it actually was, but this also gives her time to think. Several minutes and about ½ mile later the tire is finally thumping. "Thank goodness there is no moon tonight or my goose would be cooked", she thinks as she moves back into taller weeds.
Finally, Bruce stops the truck knowing that he must replace the tire before they go further. Bruce storms from the truck not watching his surroundings and blaming Jenny for this predicament. "If you had been watching for sharp objects we would not be in this situation", Bruce shouts. "Well, it is so dark out here you couldn't see anything if you wanted to. Besides she is probably long gone by now" Jenny quips.
Suddenly Jenny realizes that she is speaking to herself as she sees Bruce down on the asphalt. Julie had slipped up behind him while he was angry and intent on the tire and hit him several times on the head with the heel of her shoe. Bruce had gone down quickly. Julie put her shoe back on and for a split second she and Jenny were looking at each other not believing what was going on. But, it only took a few seconds for Jenny to realize she had better get going. She climbed down from her perch and headed into the tall grass. She moved quickly despite the tall grass and her 4" heels that also hampered her movement. Julie, on the other hand had seen a clearing just before putting the knife in the tire and headed down it. Still there was grass and a tall embankment to encounter. Julie easily made the bottom of the embankment and moved quickly toward Jenny. Suddenly, she was almost in front of her. Julie did a female version of a football tackle and got Jenny by her waist. But, it wasn't enough to bring her down and Jenny kept going. Both women were having trouble negotiating in their high heels, but Julie won out and again made a leap for Jenny several yards away from the first instance. This time she brought Jenny down. They struggled rolling over and over each other for several minutes. Finally, Julie pulls her shoe off and hits Jenny sharply on the head. Jenny slumps down to the ground and Julie once again puts her shoe back on.
Julie is exhausted, but she knows that she is still in danger. "No telling what Bruce is up to", she thinks as she pulls the pen knife from inside her bra. "I have got to disable these two from doing anything further to me—at least for tonight", she thinks. Working quickly, she unzips Jenny's dress and works it off of her shoulders and down her waist and legs. Then she takes the pen knife and cuts it into several small pieces and tosses the pieces into trees at the base of the embankment. Then she cuts the slip and bra straps from Jenny and removes them. As before, she cuts the slip into long strands and instead of tossing it she ties Jenny's hands behind her and puts a gag into her mouth. Next to go are Jenny's shoes, one of which is already mostly off. She tosses them in different directions into the tall weeds. Then she removes the garter belt and stockings. She then uses one of the three remaining pieces of the slip and ties Jenny's feet and ankles. She cuts the garter belt into two pieces and tosses it and takes the stockings along with the last two pieces of the slip with her and finding Bruce still pretty much out of it gags and ties him. She uses one of the stockings to gag him and the other to tie his hands. With that she hustles back to get her purse that she left by the shoulder.
After getting the purse she stops. "What now", she thinks. With no keys to the truck and the spare still half changed she has no choice but to head East on the highway back toward town. In her high heels the going is touch. "However", she analyzes, "at least I am not walking on the bare pavement."
She continues slowly on and after about an hour has covered what she figures is about ½ mile with no vehicles coming from either direction. Suddenly, she sees headlights coming toward her and rather slowly. Julie pulls up and edges toward the tall grass to crouch down till she can see the occupant. She doesn't want to be surprised by a friend of Bruce and Lucy.
By the time Julie has hidden herself modestly she recognizes the Red car and John driving. When he is about even with her Julie yells, though modestly. "Hey John. Over here, as she waves her hands from the shadows. Stop so I can get a ride back to town." John pulls up quickly in the Red Karmann Ghia and leans out the window. "Is that you Julie." "Yes," Julie quips as she hustles across the street as fast as her 4.5" heels will carry her.
Once inside the car Julie begins to breathe hard. John hands her a soda and says "Just relax now. Everything is going to be ok. Let me turn around here and we will get you home. "No, not my place," Julie says. "That will be the first place they come looking for me. Lets go to your place and I can sleep anywhere as long as I can get some rest. This has been a dreadful day." Julie then relates the entire story to John while they journey back to his house. As Julie is telling this story John can't help but notice Julie's feet bob in and out of her shoes and her stocking tops as she talks.
Once they get to John's house they go inside. Together they go from room to room to check and make sure there are no uninvited guests. With this completed Julie, with John behind her, clicks her way to the kitchen. The click click of Julie's heels on the wood floor is music to John's ears.
Once Julie reaches the kitchen she asks John for some cold iced tea. While John gets it Julie hoists herself on the counter top and lets her feet dangle over the side. She quickly drinks the first tall glass and requests another. While John gets it Julie flexes her feet and lets her heels out of the shoes. John hands her the second glass of tea and then says "Would you like me to rub your feet." "I thought you would never ask," Julie says letting her feet dangle a bit more from the shoes. John walks to her and takes one of her shoes and raises it to his waist and slowly removes the shoe the rest of the way and puts it on the counter. He then proceeds to rub Julie's foot to her content. Then he repeats the process for the other shoe. While doing the foot rubbing John can't help but notice Julie's skirt rise to where her garters and stocking tops are exposed. However, with the foot rubbing now complete Julie asks to be let down from the countertop. John lifts her down and Julie says. "It really is quite late and I need to get some sleep before going to work tomorrow. Remember that tomorrow is the day I meet Bruce and Lucy in LA and we need our rest if we are going to out wit them. I fully expect them to meet me (us) despite what happened tonight." With this she takes her shoes and then her purse in the living room and heads for the guest bathroom to get somewhat comfortable for a nights sleep---OR what is left of it. John agrees.
