I know it's been a while for this series, but I got tied up in writing a novel and didn't think I could pick this up again. But, thanks to someone who encouraged me to continue this, here is another installment. I probably am taking this in a different direction then originally planned but I hope you like it. This story is a little lighthearted and romantic. I hope to have some more parts this week. Thank you and leave comments.

A College Experiment

by Little Katie

Day two: Late night

Patricia laid in her bed, staring at the ceiling and counting the small holes the littered it. She had tried to fall asleep several times but was unable to find rest.

"What am I to do," Patricia asked himself. "This is so odd to be this way. I mean reading the stories on the Internet and having the occasional fantasy is one thing, but to actually dress up and go out in real life is more then I ever thought. I even kissed a guy, I never thought I would let things to go this far. I don't how I got myself into this situation. I let Colleen talk me into something that I'm not even completely sure of myself. I don't know if I really want to be a girl, sure I thought about it a lot of times but that doesn't mean I want to make it a reality. Does it? I mean it is kind of nice to look pretty and all and this is like a dream come true. But life isn't always about making dreams come true. I mean there are other things to think about other then what I want. I mean I don't think the school would react that good if I started going to class as a girl. And then I have to think about my parents. My dad would flip and probably cut me off. I remember when I asked if I could take ballet, he didn't respond too well about that one and boy were things tense then. Paul seems to like me though as a girl. He's real nice but I really don't know how to be a girlfriend. Getting excited at kissing him really scared me too. I wonder how he would react if he knew. This is too weird, too new for me to know what I want yet. Maybe I should do what I want and say the hell with the rest of the world. I mean look at me, I'm in a nighty that has kittens on it and in panties and I'm probably the most comfortable that I've ever been in my life. I don't know if I'll keep this up much longer, maybe I'll decide tomorrow."

Patricia fell asleep while the thoughts still filled her mind. She rolled over and cuddled with a white teddy bear that Colleen had lent her while they were getting ready for bed. In sleep a small smile came to her face as she softly sighed.

Day Three A.M.

Eight A.M. comes far too quickly when one doesn't fall asleep when they had planned too. Patricia stirred to consciousness and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. Colleen came to the door a few seconds later.

"Ready for your date," Colleen asked with a smile.

"I don't know. Do you think I'm doing the right thing?"

"I didn't meet Paul so I really couldn't tell you. Do you like him?"

"As Patrick or Patricia?"

"As you, simply as you?"

"I guess I like him. He is really nice and sort of cute."

"So then what's the problem?"

"I've never dated a guy before."

"You hardly dated any girls either so I don't see why that would stop you."

"That's not fair, I tried to ask girls out. A lot of girls too for that matter."

"You know why you didn't get a lot of dates with girls?"

"No, why?"

"Because going out with you is like going out with one of the girls. It's a lot of fun but it isn't that romantic."

"What about Jackie, we were kind of an item in high school for a while."

Colleen started to laugh.

"What's so funny?"

"Jackie is a lesbian."

"She is not."

"Yes she is, she's dating a girl right now."

"Well I'm still not sure if I should go on this date."

"Why, afraid you might like it?"

Patricia paused for a second and thought about what his friend had just asked. Maybe he was scared that he might actually like it and then his dilemma would deepen.

"That's it, you're scared that you like being a girl."

Patricia nodded.

Colleen walked over and sat on the bed next to her friend and put her arm around Patricia's shoulder. "It wouldn't be the worst thing that you finally figure out that you were meant to be a girl."

"Was I?"

"Well isn't it about time you actually found out. Go on the date, spend the day away from the campus and see what happens."

"I guess I can do it for one day."

"Good, I got a paper to do anyway and can use the silence."

"So you just want me out of the house."

"Exactly." Colleen laughed and gave a playful pinch to Patricia's arm.

Patricia walked into the bathroom and washed her face. She used some oxy-clean just as a precaution. She put on some light red lipstick and a little bit of blush but didn't go the whole nine yards with the makeup. She slipped on her blue water bra and a change of panties. Finally she put on a blue denim dressed that buttoned all the way down. It took a few minutes to fix her hair, it was still in pretty good shape from the day before which was odd because usually when he woke up it was a wreck.

Patricia and Colleen sat down on the couch as they finished eating a package of Pop Tarts. Five minutes before nine there was a knock at the door.

Colleen answered the door while Patricia ran upstairs to not look like she was anxious. "You must be Paul," she said at the guy holding the flowers.

"Yeah, and you must be Colleen. Pat told me a lot about you."

"Don't believe her, I'm not half that bad." Colleen laughed.

"I'm sorry if I'm a little early, I just hate being late."

"Don't worry, she'll be down shortly."

"So," Paul didn't know what to say and found himself feeling awkward.

"So," Colleen repeated, not knowing what to say as well and twiddled her thumbs.

Thankfully Patricia made her way down when she noticed the conversation came to a standstill. "I hope I didn't keep you waiting that long Paul."

"No I was a little early."

"Well, we should get going. Colleen has a paper to do and we would only distract her."

"That's fine. I thought we can go to the fair and then maybe to an early dinner after."

"Sound's great," Patricia winked at Colleen as Paul led her out the door. Paul opened the door for Patricia and she sat down in the passenger seat of his classic 442.

"She seems nice," Paul said as he started the car.

"She's the greatest."

"I wanted to talk to her but got tongue tied because I don't know how she feels about me taking you on a date."

"You don't have to worry about her, she thinks its great."

"That's good to know. You know you look real pretty today."

Patricia blushed and felt a little bit more at ease.

"So you go to many fairs?"

"Not really, I always wind up losing a ton of money trying to win a two dollar stuffed animal."

"I guess today is my turn," Paul smiled.

"I don't want you wasting a lot of money today."

"Why not, you're worth it."

"Just don't go overboard okay?"

"Okay I promise."

A few minutes later they pulled into a half full parking lot. Paul got out first and quickly made his way to open the door for Patricia. Patricia wasn't use to people getting the door for her but liked it. The two walked into the front gate and walked around looking at some of the crafts.

"I could never do anything this artistic," Patricia said as she looked at some of the hand weave baskets done by a local tribe of Indians.

"You know they're waterproof."

"That must take years of practice."

"I think it comes to them naturally, it's just like you being cute."

Patricia blushed at the complement.

Paul took hold of Patricia's hand and was glad when she didn't pull it away. They walked to the next exhibit and admired some of the jewelry there. Paul picked up a bracelet and paid the gentleman behind the table for it while Patricia was looking at some earrings.

"I got you something," Paul said as he walked behind Patricia.

"You did?"

Paul took Patricia's hand and placed the bracelet around her wrist. "Something beautiful for someone beautiful."

"I never had a boy give me jewelry before," Patricia said as she blushed.

"I hope you don't mind."

"Not at all." Patricia gave Paul a light kiss on the mouth.

"Well if I knew that was going to be my reward I would of bought you a dozen." Paul smiled.

Patricia laughed and put her hand out so Paul could hold it as they walked around the fairgrounds.

As lunch time approached Paul bought some hot-dogs and sodas for them to enjoy.

Patricia ate as carefully as she could, trying not to ruin her dress. Usually when she ate hot-dogs she would scarf them down as quick as possible.

"You have some mustard on your lips," Paul told her.

Patricia wiped her face with her finger and thumb.

"You missed it."

Patricia tried again.

"Still missed, let me get it for you."

"Okay," Patricia said as Paul came to her side of the table.

Paul sat down and put his left hand on Patricia's cheek. Slowly he moved in and gave her a deep kiss on the lips.

"That got it," Paul said as they separated.

"You better do it again just to be on the safe side."

Paul wrapped his arms around Patricia's waist and kissed her once again, this time a little harder. A few seconds into the kiss he felt Patricia try to push him away.

"I'm sorry, I thought you liked it," Paul apologized.

"I did," Patricia had a tear in her eye.

"Then what's wrong?"

"Me," Patricia blurted out.

"I know you are in the wrong body, I told you I don't mind."

"But," Patricia couldn't get out the words.

"But what?"

"I got excited, down there." A tear drifted down Patricia's cheek.

Paul wiped away her tear with his thumb. "I don't care about that, it means you really liked my kiss."

"But, it means I'm not really a girl."

"No it doesn't. It means that you don't have the right body to match what you are inside."

"But," Patricia was searching for another excuse.

"Look I really like you, all of you."

"Even," Patricia looked down.

"All of you, even that."

Patricia wrapped her arms around him and received an embrace in return. She couldn't help crying and now she felt more confused then before.

After Patricia settled down they walked to a booth so they could get some tickets for the rides. A few minutes later they found themselves sitting on a Ferris wheel.

"You really love all of me?" Patricia asked.

"Yes, I have had a crush on you for a while but was waiting for the right time."

"Which was?"

"When you figured out what you were."

"You mean a girl?"

"Exactly."

"How did you know before even I did?"

"I told you, I could see the signs."

"But what if I go back to being a boy."

"It doesn't work that way."

"You mean you won't like me anymore?"

"Not at all. The truth be known I think I'm in love with you."

"So I can't go back to being a boy then."

"You think how you dress determines if you're a boy or girl, don't you?"

"Well doesn't it?"

"Not at all. It's what is inside that counts. You were female much longer before you ever put on a dress."

"Can I confess something to you?"

"You sure can," Paul put his arm around Patricia.

"I really want to be a girl, but I don't know if I have the strength."

"I will be there for you, I promise."

"You will be, won't you."

Paul kissed her once again.

"I think I'm falling in love with you too," Patricia admitted.

"Is that a bad thing?"

"It's a new thing, all of this is new."

The ride stopped and they walked off towards the games.

"So this being new must be real scary for you," Paul said.

"I just don't know how people are going to react to all of this."

"Who cares about what people think. It is you that matters when it comes to what you are."

"But what about my parents?"

"I don't know them, but if they love you they will work something out and accept you."

"They are real conservative and this isn't something that is bound to go over to well with them."

Paul stopped at one of the games and handed the guy a few dollars for three balls. "See life is like this game," Paul tossed one of the balls in the air and caught it. "In life you have targets, like those bottles over there. Your target is becoming the real you. If you lie to yourself," Paul threw the first ball and missed wide right. "you miss the prize. Now if you try to do things the way you think other people won't you too," Paul threw his second ball and missed well high. "you miss the prize again. Now if you are true to yourself and put yourself with people who accept you for what you really are." Paul threw his final ball and struck the bottles square on, causing them to vacate the pedestal that they were on. The vendor gave him a large pink and white teddy bear. "Then you get the prize and it may be something better then you have ever imagined." Paul handed the huge stuffed animal to Patricia.

"Wow that was amazing."

Paul smiled

"But what if you had missed, you wouldn't of made your point."

"That's the chances we take in life, but I wasn't going to miss."

"How can you be so sure."

"I worked that booth for three years when I was in high school, I know how it works."

Patricia gave him a kiss on the cheek as she carried the huge toy to the car. "It certainly gives me a lot to think about. I mean becoming a girl on the outside is more expensive then being one on the inside."

"Does it really matter what's on the outside."

"A little bit it does."

"I know, but maybe I can help you while you go on the journey."

"Why?"

"Cause, like I said. I'm falling in love with you."

"You are giving up a lot by doing that."

"And gaining much more," Paul opened the door and put the stuffed animal in the back seat before letting Patricia get in.

"It's still to early to make up my mind."

"I understand, take your time. Do what's right for you."

"What if I don't know what's right?"

"You know, you just have to accept what you know."

"How did you become such an expert on this."

"My younger sister went through the same thing."

"You have a sister that use to be a boy."

Paul nodded.

"Wow, I thought that only happened in stories."

"I have very understanding parents I guess."

"Mind if I swap." Patricia laughed.

"I'm sure they would love you as much as they do me and my sister."

"I'd like to meet her."

"In good time."

"What about your parents, they wouldn't freak that you're dating someone like me."

"No, they think it's great."

"You mean they know?"

"Yeah, I told them last night that I had a date with you."

"You told them everything?"

"You mean the fact that you aren't physically a girl yet?"

"Exactly."

"Yes, I told them about you a while ago and that I was trying to find away to ask you out."

"And what did they come up with."

"They said to get your roommate to help."

"You mean," Patricia looked dumbfounded.

"Yeah, me and Colleen talked about a month ago. We didn't start talking about you actually being a girl but it came out. She knew about your reading habits and I kind of convinced her to talk you into trying it out."

"That's tricky."

"I hope you don't hate me."

"I don't know yet, I mean if I knew before I went through all of this I would of. But, I think I like being the real me."

"So you know what you are inside."

"I think I've always knew. I just needed someone to help me admit it."

"Well then I'm glad we met."

"Which wasn't by accident I suppose."

"No, the plan was to get you to the party."

"And the thing with Roy, was that a part of the plan," Patricia started to get angry thinking that it might of been.

"Not at all. That guy is a real ass, he is a third year freshman for God sake."

"Good, cause if it was a part of the plan I'd have to hurt you." Patricia forced a smile and calmed down.

"No I was suppose to meet you at the party, but that got sidetracked by the idiot."

"So, where do I go from here."

"To dinner," Paul said as he pulled into an O'Charlie's parking lot.

"That's not what I meant."

"I know, but you just take it one step at a time."
