The Breakup

by Jennifer White

Things were getting pretty bad between Kevin Foster and his wife Jody. There were messy fights, yelling and screaming at each other. When they were with friends or family, they’d pretend to still be a loving couple, but those close to them could sense the tension. With just the smallest of slip-ups, Jody would fly into a rage, and the fighting would start up all over again.

That was why Kevin felt justified when he started having an affair with Kimberly, a girl he knew from work. He set her up with an apartment, and he made frequent visits. Unlike his wife, she was nothing but nice to him, and comforting. Not to mention that fact that while Jody had all but cut him off, Kimberly was willing to spread her legs for him, whenever he wanted.

Kevin sighed. He knew this moment would come. He watched the man walk away, who had just served him with papers. He didn’t even need to look at them to know what they were. The divorce was on.

Of course, Jody had asked for almost everything of his, which was far from reasonable. Kevin hired a good attorney, who would fight for his right to keep his things. Just in case, he started spending more money on Kimberly, so that if his money-grubbing wife did get to keep his assets, at least some of them would be gone now, and she’d get less.

This made Kevin think of all the things he had bought for Jody over the years. Expensive jewelry. Designer clothes. A mink fur coat, which she never wore, but just kept in storage. He thought about how wonderful his Kimberly would look in all of the fine things that he had bought for Jody. That was when he called his lawyer, and told him that he wanted to keep it all. He would wrestle it away from Jody’s clutches, and then he could give it all to Kimberly.

When they went before the judge for the first time, Kevin’s request to keep all of the expensive things he had bought for Jody was one of the first disputes to arise.

"I bought it. Its mine. Why should she get it? I earned the money. I worked hard. So I deserve to keep it."

Of course, that enraged Jody.

"He gave it to me! You can’t ungive a gift. Plus, what would he use it for? He doesn’t need earrings and chokers. He’s just asking for this to make me angry."

Kevin had to contain a little smirk. Making her angry was a small part of why he wanted to keep her things. But of course, he wouldn’t admit that to the judge. Nor would he admit the real reason why he did it. Because then, the court would know about his affair. And then, he would be in big trouble. He would lose everything!

* * *

The proceedings went on, as they both went through their demands. She wanted Kevin’s house, his money, and even his sports car! She asked for things that were his before they married, and were his rightful properly. He grew more and more angry with her, on a day by day basis.

Now the two wouldn’t even talk face to face. They lawyers had to do the talking for them (at their hourly rates of course).

But progress was being made. Issue by issue, the judge was settling the disputes. On some, she ruled in favor of Kevin. On some, she rules in favor of Jody. And on most, she ruled in such a way that neither were happy. Such are the circumstances of a divorce!

In time, there were just a few issues left to settle. Next up: Kevin’s request to keep all of the expensive things he had bought for Jody. She asserted her position again that not only were the items hers, but what did he need them for? The judge seemed inclined to agree with her.

"Tell me sir, what do you need her clothes and jewelry for?"

Kevin was going to tell her that they were rightfully his, so it didn’t matter what he wanted them for. But he had seen how she had ruled on other issues. She was generally fair, but if she thought he was just being vindictive, she’d rule in Jody’s favor. So he needed to make up a reasonable sounding answer, off the top of his head.

"Your honor" he said, "Those clothes and jewelry are for me. When she is out of the house, spending my money as usual, I like to dress up in all of the clothes and things I bought. That’s why I bought them. For me."

A commotion broker out, and the judge had to pound her gavel to gain control of the courtroom. Jody’s lawyer was objecting, after she told him that it was a bald-faced lie.

"Your honor, my client insists that Mr. Foster has never worn her clothes. She would know! She’s a woman" said Jody’s attorney.

The judge had a skeptical look on her face, as she wrote a note down on her legal pad.

"Mr. Foster" she said, "This is quite an outrageous claim you are making. We all need to calm down a little, and think about this. I’m adjuring court for today. When we resume on Monday, I’ll give you a chance to prove it to me, that you routinely dress up as a woman."

"And how exactly can my client do that, your honor?" asked Kevin’s lawyer.

"Your client can come into my courtroom, dressed up as a woman. We’ll see just how real his story is then. If it is his first time in a skirt and heels, it will be quite obvious."

Now she turned to Kevin.

"If you are making it all up, I will know. And you don’t want to anger me by telling a lie. If you show up, it had better be ‘all the way’. I want you in full makeup, and full female regalia. Do you understand? Or you can just tell me now that you want to forget the whole idea, she can have the disputed things, and we can move on."

"No your honor" said Kevin. "I’ll dress up for you on Monday."

He didn’t want to lose all of his things to Jody! Not with what it cost for women’s clothes! Not to mention the price of gold and diamonds. He desperately wanted to keep all of those things for Kimberly. She’d look so good in them!

And so he went home alone, since Jody was staying with her sister while the divorce proceedings were going on. He would have all weekend to figure it out. He’d only have to humiliate himself once, showing up Monday in a dress. They he’d get to keep everything, and Jody would have to eat crow. It was a perfect plan. All he had to do now was go home, and practice dressing up.

* * *

Now in truth, Kevin had never dressed up like a girl before. So he had no idea what he was doing. He opened up one of Jody’s fashion magazines, and turned the pages until he found a hot chick in a cute outfit. He decided that he’d go for that look.

He dug through her closet, finding a similar skirt and a similar top to what the babe in the picture had one. Then he dug through the dresser until he found a bra and panties. But before he put anything on, he realized he was going to have to shave. All over.

So he ran the tub, and for good measure, he threw in some of the bath beads that Jody always used. Maybe they’d make his skin softer, like she insisted the did for her. He got in, and washed up.

Then he took the pink shaver sitting on the edge of the tub, and he went to work. And work it was! With so much hair on his chest and legs, the shaver kept getting clogged, and he started to get frustrated.

But then he spotted a tube of ‘Nair’, which she also used to remove her body hair. He followed the directions, and used the cream all over himself. After it did it’s work, he rinsed off, and there went all his hair! That was much easier, other than the fact that it irritated him under his arms.

Oh well, this was the only time he’d ever be doing this, so what did it matter? He just had to remember that he was getting even with Jody. He dried off, and went into the bedroom.

Kevin put on the bra (after much fumbling), and the panties. He looked in the mirror, and he felt completely ridiculous. Then he put on the top and the skirt, and examined the results: it was pretty bad. He looked like a guy wearing a skirt and a woman’s top. The clothes had not transformed him into a beautiful girl. He had a lot more work to do.

First of all, there was the problem that his chest was so flat. He took off the top, and folded up a couple of hand towels. He stuffed the towels into his bra, the replaced the top, and checked it out in the mirror.

It was awful. It didn’t look like boobs on his chest at all. He’d need something better, to fool the judge. He decided he’d need to go online, and see what he could find. But first, he tried on a pair of Jody’s high heels. The judge said he’d need to be in heels. But his feet were way too big to fit into her shoes, so that was a total waste of time.

He went to his computer, and looked up stores in the city that stocked women’s shoes in extra-large sizes. He’d go there in the morning, and buy himself a pair. There was just no way to fit into Jody’s shoes.

Then he looked online to see what he could find to stuff his bra with. He read about something called "breast forms", which women used if they lost a breast to cancer. He found a local medical supply store that carried them. Okay, that would help.

He went back to the mirror, to see what else really looked bad. Of course, there was his hair. He’d need a wig. A wig store was easy enough to find online. So now there was just one more major problem he needed to address.

The girl in the picture looked so cute. He tried to see what looked so different in her body, as compared to his. One thing stood out clearly: curves. She had a narrow waist, and wider hips, whereas his body was the same width all through the trunk. He’d need some kind of waist cincher. He knew a leather shop downtown, where he had bought Kimberly a little black leather miniskirt. They had corsets and stuff there. He’d drop by, and pick one up (telling them it was for his girlfriend of course!).

Kevin needed to dress up in his own clothes now. He wasn’t about to go out in a skirt! He decided though to keep the bra and panties on. He needed to get used to them, so he wouldn’t feel so uncomfortable in front of the judge on Monday.

He put on a hat, and dark glasses. He didn’t want to be recognized in the stores he was about to visit. He spent the next three hours shopping for things to help him look more like a woman.

* * *

Kevin looked at the pile of things on the bed. He signed. It was time to dress up again, but for real. He started by removing the breast forms from their box, then putting them into the bra he was still wearing. They looked much more real. Good.

Then he pulled out the corset he had bought to give him the illusion of having curves. It was easy enough to pull on, but closing it was another matter. It laced up in back, and it was a royal pain to tighten it up! To make matters worse, it hurt to go too tight, but he needed to look real, so he had to pull as hard as he could.

Finally, he got it on, but he wasn’t 100% happy with the results. It helped, but he didn’t have curves like the model. He’d need something to give him padding on the hips and butt if he was to do it up right. But he had no idea how he could do that.

Next, he put on the skirt and the top. But there was a problem: the dark leather of the corset showed through the white fabric of the top. He’d need something thicker, or darker. He dug through the closet until he found a black top instead, but it looked silly with a white skirt. So he needed to change that to a black one too.

He decided it was a good thing that he had bought black shoes, since they would go with just about anything. He put them on, and took a few tentative steps. He realized he was going to need to wear them around the house all weekend, if he was going to have any semblance of grace walking into court with them on Monday.

He put on the wig, which was reasonable, but not the best. It was good enough though for his purposes. The put on a couple of rings (they had to go on his pinkies, because his hands were too big for them to fit anywhere else). He put on a necklace. Then he tried a bracelet, but his wrists were too large for it to fit over.

He was also frustrated: the band on the lady’s watch was too small to fit on as well. Finally, he was able to get a diamond tennis bracelet on, but just barely. Now it was time for perhaps the most difficult job: the makeup.

He sat down in front of the mirror, and tried to put on makeup for the first time. He knew that Jody started with her foundation, so he put that on. His application was a little uneven; light in some areas, too heavy in others. But he didn’t know better. But that you could get away with.

Applying the colored powders proved to be much harder. He tried to read what Jody’s magazines had to say in the article about applying makeup to your eyes for example. They referenced all sorts of brushes, but he didn’t know what was what. So he tried his best, just to see how it looked.

He decided he looked like a raccoon. He had to clean it all off, and start over again. He had leered his first lesson: a little goes a long way! It took several attempts before he was somewhat satisfied with his eyes, so he could move on to his cheeks, and lastly, his lips.

Kevin realized that he’d need to practice this over and over as well, so that he’d look good enough on Monday to fool the judge. He looked at his final results in the mirror, and he shook his head. It still wasn’t good enough.

He didn’t know what he could do about the need for padding on the hips. He’d have to live with that. But his face needed better makeup. And his feet looked wrong. He realized it was because he had on opened toe shoes, but his toenails looked bad.

Now he set about cutting them, and painting them. After they dried, he put his shoes back on. He swore when it turned out that although the nail polish had seemed dry to the touch, he had ruined one toe when he put his shoe on. He didn’t realize it took longer to cure, in order to really set.

Now for the really hard part: he was going to have to go outside. It was getting dark now, which would work to his advantage. But first of all, he was going to have to be in public on Monday, so he needed to practice it at least once. Also, he had realized a few more little things he needed.

Kevin went to the closet shelf, and pulled down one of the many purses that Jody had bought (at great expense), but rarely used. Why did chick need so many purses, when they only used one at a time? He put his wallet into it, along with his keys. He would have to be very careful driving! If he got pulled over for something, he’d have to lie, and tell the cop that he was driving to a costume party. That would be his cover story, if he was discovered by anyone that night!

He got into his car, and discovered right away that driving while wearing heels wasn’t something to take lightly. With your heel resting on a four inch high thin little heel, your foot hit the gas pedal at a different angle, and it wasn’t as easy to control. Nor was it easy to break. How did chicks do this, he wondered?

He drove to a drug store, and went down the nail care aisle. There, he found a box of "press on" nails, which you could apply so that it looked like you have long nails. Then he found a cheap pair of clip-on earrings. He wasn’t about to get his ears pierced, just so he could wear Jody’s real ones!

Then he picked out a tube of lipstick. The one he was wearing was a shimmery pink, but he wanted a bright red one to really stand out. Lastly, Jody had taken her perfume with her, so he bought a bottle of something he knew she wore from time to time. He shook his head at how expensive that was!

Now he went to the cash register.

"Hello... Ma’am" said the clerk.

Kevin blushed. The guy knew that he wasn’t really a woman. He wasn’t fooling anyone. Between his shoulders, his Adam’s apple, his posture and his mannerisms, they guy knew right off that he was a guy too. And that was totally embarrassing. He put his change into his purse, and hurried off into the parking lot.

As he walked to his car, he felt really uncomfortable. Some teenage guys who were hanging out there and smoking. As he walked by, they were scoping him out.

"She’s got nice boobs" said one of them.

"But she’s a big girl. It would take two of us at once to do her" joked another.

"I bet she’d want all three of us" laughed the third. "We could take turns."

"Hey babe, you want to have some fun?" yelled out the leader.

Kevin got in his car, and locked the door. These were just boys having fun, yet they had scared him half to death. He had done things like that when he was young. But the way it made him feel now! He felt so vulnerable. For the first time in his life, he had some empathy for what a woman would have to go through, as she walked to her car at night in a dark parking lot. It was quite different!

He went back home, and practiced walking in heels until his feet were sore. Then he went to bed, keeping the bra on, so he’d get more used to wearing it, stuffed with big fake boobs. And for good measure, he wore Jody’s nightie, which was hanging on the back of the door. It still smelled like her. As he fell asleep, for the first time since their divorce proceedings began, he missed her.

* * *

On Sunday, Kevin was watching a lot of TV. He was trying to study the way women sat, their posture, and their movements. He tried to imitate these, so he’d do a better job of passing. As he watched one show, which was a drama about a court case, he had a revelation.

The women appearing in court didn’t wear flirty white skirts or short black ones like he had on now. They wore suits. Jody had a few suits with skirts and blazers. That was what he needed to wear to court the next day.

As an added bonus, he was now able to wear one of Jody’s blouses, which had a lacy collar on it that buttoned up. It was tight on Kevin’s neck, but now his Adam’s apple was hidden from view. The blazer also helped hide his big shoulders, but the way it was cut, it helped show off the large mounds on his chest.

The skirt looked good with it too. Jody had bought this particular suit when she was a little overweight. It was cut to try and have a slimming effect. This was perfect for Kevin: it helped accentuate what little curves he had. And now he could wear pantyhose with it, or stockings, for the full effect. This was the outfit to wear into court!

He practiced his makeup again and again, and worked on his walk, and how to sit, then cross your legs. All day on Sunday, he worked hard learning how to look and act like a woman.

* * *

On Monday, Kevin sat in his car, with just minutes to go before he was to appear before the judge. He had a last second case of cold feet. But it was too late now to rethink things; he had to get up and get in there.

He was wearing his skirt suit now, along with dark nylons. He had put the "press on" nails onto his hand, and had painted them bright red. He wore his new bright red lipstick. And he had applied too much perfume; it smelled so strongly!

He took a deep breath, and got out of the car. With all of the feminine grace he could muster, he started to walk into the court building.

Jody turned to her lawyer and smiled. Kevin was such a rat. He was going to show up at the last minute, with some lame excuse. She was so sure that he wouldn’t go through with the judge’s instructions.

The judge herself arrived, and noticed with some irritation that Kevin had not yet arrived in court. She would give him two minutes. If he didn’t show, she’d penalize him severely.

But there was a gasp in court, and all eyes turned, when Kevin came through the doors, and walked down the center aisle, with a loud click of heels. From head to toe, he was dressed like a woman, in a smart blue skirt-suit!

"That’s my suit!" said Jody to her lawyer, who just nodded back.

"I’m sorry I’m late your honor" said Kevin in a softer voice than he normally used. "I chipped a nail this morning, and I was fixing it in the car, and I lost track of time."

He put his purse down on the table in front of him, pulled out the chair, sat down, and crossed his legs.

"Well, well Mr. Foster" said the Judge. "That is quite a show you’ve put on for us this morning."

After she pounded the gavel and started the session, she had a few questions for him.

"Tell me Mr. Foster, what shade of lipstick are you wearing?"

"Passion’s Edge" he replied.

"I see. And what type of perfume is that?"

"It’s Acqua Di Gio by Giorgio Armani."

The judge was impressed. He had the answers fast. So he hadn’t just picked something out from his wife’s cosmetics, and slapped it on.

"Where did you get those shoes?"

"I went to Cousin’s Shoe World, over on 7th. They carry large sizes."

"And the clothes?"

"These are some of Jody’s clothes, which I asked for. As you can see, I use them myself. From time to time."

"And tell me Mr. Foster, when you dress up like that, what is your name?"

It was an important question. The judge knew that most male cross dressers had a female name they would use when they wore their female clothes. But Kevin hadn’t thought of this possibility. His mind race, and he thought of the first female name he could. His first girlfriend was Christine Woods. She had been a gorgeous redhead. And so, he blurted it out.

"Christine your honor" he said. "When I’m dress up, I am Christine."

The name wasn’t lost on Jody, who had grilled him on his past loves, as many wives do. She was angry and upset that he still had a thing for his first girl, so much that he liked to dress up and pretend to be her!

"It is quite obvious to me that this isn’t your first time dressed as a woman. The court rules that Mr. Foster is indeed a frequent cross-dresser. Your habit of dressing as a woman will be taken into consideration when I divide up the property. You may sit now Mr. Foster. Or Ms. Foster. Whichever you prefer."

The rest of the day wasn’t too bad, in terms of the proceedings. But Kevin had to sit there, dressed up like a woman, until lunch, when they adjourned for the day. He walked out of the court, and carefully down the steps. He still hadn’t quite mastered going down steps in heels. This allowed Jody a chance to catch up with him, and confront him on the sidewalk.

The day’s session had all gone Kevin’s way. It looked like he was going to get what he had asked for. He was on top of the world, feeling invincible, since his little plan had worked, and he had fooled them all. But he wasn’t ready for the curve ball that fate was about to throw him. He didn’t know that fate was a woman herself, and that she didn’t like what he had done either.

"Kevin!" yelled Jody, as she walked quickly towards him.

He heard his name, stopped and turned to see her marching down the steps. But out of the corner of his eye, he saw someone else: his mistress Kimberly!

"Kevin?" she said.

"No, I’m Christine" he said in a fake feminine voice.

"Then why did you turn around when that woman yelled your name? Kevin, that is you!"

"You rat! I can’t believe you did this to me!" said Jody. "You wore my clothes and my rings in front of the judge!"

"You were in court?" said Kimberly. "Why?"

"You know him?" snorted Jody.

"Yes" said Kimberly defensively, even if her man was dressed up like a woman at the moment.

"And you would be?"

"Kimberly. His fiancee."

Jody smiled. She had him now!

"How can you be his fiancee" she said coolly, "when we haven’t even completed our divorce?"

There was stunned silence. Kimberly’s face blushed bright red. She went to Kevin, and slapped him hard, right across the cheek.

"You lied to me!" she fumed. "You said you had been divorced for two years! And now this. You dress up like a woman? In public? That’s another lie."

She reached down, and pulled a ring off her finger.

"You can have your stupid ring back. Or you can wear it yourself, since you seem to like that sort of thing. We’re through. Don’t ever call me again!"

She threw the ring at his feet, and stomped off. He didn’t even try to stop her. He was defenseless.

"And one more thing" she said, stopping for a moment. "You make an ugly woman too!"

He had just lost his mistress. And worse yet, it had been in front of Jody and her lawyer.

"I had always suspected you of having affairs" said Jody, her voice steely and cool. "But I had no proof, so I didn’t even bring it up before the judge. But now not only do I have proof, but I have witnesses. First thing tomorrow, we’ll bring this up before the judge, and see what she might have to say about it."

Kevin’s face turned ghostly pale. Only the makeup he wore kept him from looking as white as he really was. He stammered a few words, but he couldn’t decide even what to say.

"Now I’ll get everything" said Jody. "You’ll get nothing. I think I’ll let you keep a few of my old outfits, since you look so good in them. But now I’ll get the house. I’ll get the savings. I’ll get my jewelry. I’ll get it all. And you will have nothing."

"Jody, please, be reasonable" said Kevin.

"Reasonable? You’re the one who had an affair! You’re the one who was so vindictive that you dressed up like a chick, in order to try and keep my things in the divorce. Now I see why you did it. My things weren’t for you. They were for her, weren’t they? Admit it!"

"Yes" he said, his head bowed down in shame. She had him. There was no use denying it now. All he could do was to try and keep the damage at a minimum. She had him over a barrel, and he knew it.

Jody and her lawyer whispered a few things back and forth. They lawyer nodded.

"I tell you what" said Jody. "Why don’t you join us for lunch across the street? It will be just us girls, and we can talk some more. What do you say, Christine?"

"Okay" he replied, not wanting to make waves.

They got seated at the bistro, and placed their orders. When the waitress headed off to the kitchen, Jody got down to business.

"I’m making you a one time offer" she said. "I’ll be willing to call off the divorce, but only as long as you agree to some conditions. My lawyer here will draft the paper as we talk. Are you ready?"

"Yes" said Kevin."

"Condition number one: you’ll move back in with me, but you’ll do it as a woman. You will agree to become Christine full time for me, so that you will know you are completely mine."

Kevin nodded glumly. This wasn’t good.

"Condition number two: since you’ve had at least one affair that I know of, you will agree that I am allowed to date other men. Since you’re not a man anymore, at least in my eyes, I’ll need someone else to satisfy me in bed. You’re just a girl to me now Christine. So you’ll agree to let me have a lover."

Again, he nodded. This was getting worse and worse!

"You will sign over all of the property and assets to me, so that I control them too. You will be penniless and weak. I will control every aspect of your life. You will live in my house, but I won’t charge you rent, since you will be my maid and my servant."

Kevin just stared at her blankly, as the lawyer scribbled down more notes.

"Your status will officially be ‘pre-op transsexual’, so we will be able to go out and get female hormones for you. Those should help control those bad male urges of yours, as they begin to transform you into a woman, for real."

Kevin was stunned. He couldn’t do all that! Give her everything, become her maid and servant, dress as a woman, and go on hormones! Not to mention letting her date other men. This was all too much. He was going to have to say no.

The lawyer excused herself for a moment. She needed to not be around for the next part however. As an officer of the court, she couldn’t be there when her client used a threat.

"Those are my terms Christine. And you will accept them."

"You know I can’t accept that!" said Kevin, hissing under his breath.

"Yes my dear girl, you will. You see, if you don’t accept my terms, here is what I will do. They took pictures of you in court today, as evidence. I will get those pictures from the public record, and go through our address book. How do you think your father will like them? Your brother? Your cousin? Your pal Bill? Will they like to see you dressed as a woman?"

"No!" said Kevin. "You can’t do that!"

"I can, and I will. Then I’ll take them to your office, and show your boss what you like to do in your spare time. Do you think you coworkers would like to know that you’re a woman named Christine, when you’re not in the office?"

"Jody, no!" he said.

"Oh yes" she said, smiling. "And then there are the newspapers. What a juicy story this is! Married man, has an affair with a woman, then decides to become one himself! You’ll be famous. Of course, an anonymous source might tell a reporter that you’ve been having an affair. With a man."

"Okay!" said Kevin, who was now scared stiff. "I give up. I’ll do what you ask. Please don’t expose me like that, and tell everyone that I’m dating men!"

"Deal" said Jody. "My lawyer is drafting things up right now. You’ll sign all your assets over to me. Then you’ll agree to a contract as my maid. If you break the contract, I’ll fire you, and put you out on the street with nothing but the pretty clothes on your back. Then you’ll sign a document saying that you want me to see other men, since you’re not a real man yourself anymore. You’ll sign papers changing your legal name to Christine. You’re going to start becoming a woman, for real now. How does that feel, Christine?"

Kevin started to cry.

"Oh, just like a woman to be so emotional!" she mocked. "Lets eat dear. After lunch, we need to go do some shopping, and find some French maid’s outfits for you. You’ll need lots of pretty clothes, since I don’t want you wearing mine. And then we’ll go to a salon, and get your eyebrows plucked, get you a real manicure and pedicure, and make you all pretty."

* * *

After lunch, Kevin was led out of the bistro by the hand. He was Jody’s property now, more or less. He couldn’t do anything but resign himself to the fact that he was going to spend the rest of his life as a woman. What a fool he had been! How had he let it get to this? He felt so weak and so powerless, as his skirt swished against his leg. His feet ached from the heels. His stomach hurt from the corset. The bra straps were digging into his shoulders. His head was hot from the wig.

It was the first day of the rest of his life. And his first full day as a woman. He was Christine now, and Jody owned him. He looked over at her. She was smiling, grinning from ear to ear. He had lost everything to her. She seemed so powerful, so smart! And he was nothing. He realized that he deserved what he had got. He was only good enough to serve her, nothing more.

For the rest of his life, he would be her feminized maid servant. He could feel his new life as a woman overtaking him. He was hers now. And he was well on his way to becoming female.
