Big Brother

After the school bell ran, Alex walked out to his hover car in the pale blue shirt, black pants and sneakers that consisted of the male school uniform. The girls of course had to wear short black skirts and heels. Most of the year the girls wore stockings to keep their legs warm.

Driving over to his friends house, he notice the black wreath on the door. With a sigh he got out and knocked. A young woman with shoulder length blonde hair, a black top; with a strap the went around her neck, and blue denim jeans mini skirt stepped onto the front steps. Her ring arm was in a sling. "Yes."

"I'm Alex." Alex introduced reminded the young woman as he kept his back to the government spy device in the front bushes. "I was a friend of Helen."

"Glad she had friends." The woman smiled as she saw Alex starring. "The government fractured my arm when I tried to stop them from testing Lesley. Thank goodness she wasn't proven to process witch craft like Helen did. If only the government saw they were good wishes as well as bad so now all had to be burned at the stake."

"I heard one group of witches tried to protest that magic and science can co- exist and they were first gun down and then burned for good measure." Alex said then whispered. "Helen said that she was leaving something for me in her will if she got caught before we could meet."

"Here." The woman whispered as she handed Alex and old mirror with writing on the back. "Be careful of the witch hunters thought."

"Okay." Alex whispered as he turned back to his car. "They only kill witches not those who are under a witches spells. The Samson Witch detectors can tell the difference in magic levels on someone."

As Alex got home he found his mother waiting for him. She was furious. "Didn't think I'd notice did you!" She shouted. "Didn't think I'd be able to tell the difference between the pictures of you bare foot and those of you in nude nylons?"

"I'm stick of you treating me like a witch you wish to see burned at the stake." Alex snapped back. "You acting like you'd rather see me dead than get a sex change operation. Just so you don't have to be embarrassed."

"Shhh..." Alex's mother hushed him. "Don't bring up the "W" word in this house. The government sensors might pick up on it. Besides, your father would never allow you to become a woman under this roof."

"The last time his work for Big Brother allowed him home he left saying BE A GOOD GIRL by mistake." Alex said, not telling his mother he turned off the government listening devices in his room that morning. "Once when he was checking house temp in my bedroom, I had just put a pair of pantyhose I had just taken off on the bed. He had to of seen and not said anything."

"I'm putting my foot down young man." His mother said finally.

"Maybe after I graduate from High School I'll go work for my uncle up north where family stick together." Alex replied as he brought up his father's E-mail address. "As far as dad is concern, want to see how afraid I am of him and the government?"

"You wouldn't?" Alex's mom said in shock.

"I would and could but won't," Alex said as he pulled out the mirror and began to read the spell on the back. "Close your eyes and make your wish and you'll be a wonderful dish."

When Alice opened her eyes she was wearing a white uniform shirt and red mini skirt of the grade school. He always preferred the color uniform they wore to the high school ones and this way he could start life over again as a seven year old girl.

"Alice honey," Her mom said with a smile. "Why am I in your room?"

"It's my bed time and a school night mom." The former Alex smiled. "You were going to tuck me in."

"That's right." Her mom replied. "Did you want me to read you Hansel and Grettle?"

"Yes please." Alice said. "Not the government version where the witch gets burned up. "I prefer the Be Kind To Witches Group version where the kids are spoiled brats and the witch is a kindly good hearted lady like my friend Helen was."

"Alright dear." Alice mother began. "Once upon a time...."
